as icicle flats

it was really just a small town

Focused on logging and fur.

The yakama, chinook and wenatchi
tribes were all over the area

and fishing for salmon.

And people started to leave
en masse.

And then in the 1960s,
the town leaders got together

And decided they needed to do
something to save the town.

'cause the town already had
these stunning alpine hills.

They decided to change
the town's appearance

By completely renovating
the town in hopes

That it would draw in visitors
from all over, and it worked.
