All language subtitles for A Complete Affiliate Program Setup - Affiliate WP

Setting up an affiliate program can be
one of the best things you can do if you

are starting your online business.

Now, this is something that probably

won't come right at the beginning, but it
definitely could if you planned it the

right way.
Affiliate programs are so important in

this industry as you can use and leverage
somebody else's traffic to bring in

customers for yourself.

And this is something that lots of people

do in the industry and it works so well.

Now I have another video that I did on

affiliate programs where.

Talk a little bit more about the how the,

why the win, win, all of those types of
details and you can check that video

here. But this one I'm going to walk you

through setting up your affiliate
program.

Now there's a lot of different options
for affiliate program plugins for

websites, but there's really one in the
industry that is very common and that is

affiliate WP.
And so that's the one I'm going to be

showing you how to walk through and set
up today.

So we're going to jump right in enjoy if
you are new here, welcome to the channel.

I am Nathan and I run WP school.

And if you guys have any video ideas for

my, throw them in the comments and I'll
do my best to get to them.

All right, let's go.

All right, so First off, let's look at

the affiliate WP website.

There's a reason why this is kind of the

industry standard as far as affiliate
programs.

It's because they are really
full-featured and they have about

everything that you could possibly need.

There are so many features I'm not even

going to mention.

All of them.

We could probably do a whole video on
just the features included with affiliate

WP. I'm not only do they have tons of

features, but they integrate with lots of
very important things that you're going

to need, different forms, different
payment options, different membership

plugins. So anyway, they're just very

full-featured and very helpful.

Now pricing or not going to talk too much

about the pricing, pricing changes, it
just depends on the time, but there are a

couple of different options here now.

You can do a custom plan.

If you need something really custom, you
can do lots of different things, personal

plus professional now.

All of these things are all of these

prices are per year.

Now what I would recommend is that you

get one of the higher plans so that you
can get some of the addons.

These addons are really important to
making our affiliate program run

correctly. There are a lot of affiliate plugins,

some of them might even be free and even
with this one you can get a cheaper

option. But the problem is without all of these

add-ons it just does not work and does
not function as you would want it to.

So what I would recommend is going with
the highest option here, the professional

plan. And I only say that because affiliate

programs have the potential to make you a
lot of money.

Now, 300$ a year is a lot of money.

But just think, if you could get one or

two or three really good affiliates
making you a few sales a year, you can

easily recoup the money that you've put
into your affiliate program anyway.

So buying the professional plan, we'll
get you all of the add-ons, all of their

free add-ons.
That'll get you updates, and you can put

it on up to 10 sites.

So it's just a really good investment for

your business, all right, once you have
purchased.

You've downloaded the plugin and then you
upload it back to your site.

Now it's time to configure everything.

So I'm going to walk you through and just

kind of show you everything that you need
to look at when you are just getting

started so you can become familiar with
the plugin.

First off, you're going to see it in your
sidebar here under affiliates, and I'm

just going to click on it so we can see
the menu here.

So here's the menu, the affiliate WP
menu, starting with the overview.

This is just like your dashboard page
showing you.

How much you've paid, how much you've
earned paid earnings today.

You can look at your most valuable
Affiliates, recent referrals, recent

referral visits.
You just have a very easy, quick look at

everything that's going on going down
affiliates.

Now this is where you're actually going
to see the people who are affiliates to

your program.
And so when you add someone to your

affiliate program, this is where you'll
do it alright so I'm going to add myself

as an affiliate here.

You can see user login name.

So you're going to need each user to
create a login onto your site.

If they don't have a login to your site,
they're not going to be able to be an

affiliate. So they'll create a login to your site,

and generally speaking, you'll have your
affiliates fill out a form, which we'll

talk about a little bit later.

Affiliate WP integrates with forms, so

you can create a form asking certain
questions, getting certain details, and

then they'll fill out the form, create
the profile on your website.

So I'm just going to do mine.

I'm going to do Nathan, and it's going to

search for my user account.

There it is.

Now I can set my affiliate status so I
can set it as active, inactive, or

pending. So when you have someone fill out the

form, what you can do is have it so when
they submit the form to you, they'll show

up here, but they'll show up as pending,
and then you will review the form and

then you will decide whether to allow
them to be an affiliate or not.

I wouldn't recommend letting everybody be
an affiliate.

Some people do not have your best
intention in mind and they'll do it in a

very spammy way.

So you kind of want to vet each of your

Affiliates for myself, of course I'll set
it as active.

Now you can set the referral rate type
now.

This is really nice.

You can set a site wide default, so you

can set.
I want to pay everybody this amount and

just have it site wide.

This is good.

It's OK in the beginning if you don't
want to spend a lot of time customizing

everything, but you can also do it.

On a per person basis, so I can set it as

a percentage and then set what percentage
I'd like 20 % or I can do a flat rate and

what I and then if I choose flat rate, it
will allow me to choose if I do a flat

rate Commission per product per order.

So there's just a couple of different

options here.
Personally, I use a percentage.

I think it's nice.

Say, OK, you've made a sale on this

hundred dollar product.

You get 20 % 20 bucks.

Easy, easy to figure out, not difficult
at all.

And then there are payment email, again
this is something, another question

you'll put on their form.

You can just say what is your payment

email and then that will be here.

You can add affiliate notes, which is

nice. And if you have an affiliate that's been

a little bit naughty, then you can write
notes about them here.

Or if you have someone that's performing
really well, you can just note down some

things here.
And I think it's nice they tell you here

these notes are only visible to admin, so
you can write whatever you want about the

affiliate without them seeing it.

Another nice thing here is you can send a

welcome email after registering them as
an affiliate, which is great.

You will need to set up that email, which
we will go through a little bit later.

All right, Next up is referrals.

This is a really cool page because it

shows you all of the Affiliates and all
of the referrals they've made.

So it's going to show you the referral ID
of the affiliate.

It's going to show you the amount of the
Commission.

That you're actually paying them.

It's going to give the Affiliates

username here.
It'll give you a description and

reference for what they sold.

Type will be a sale.

It will give you the date.

It just gives you every piece of data

here as far as what your Affiliates are
doing.

So you can see updated info here.

You can see everyone that's been paid,

unpaid, pending or rejected.

So it's really nice.

This one's just great.

There's obviously nothing here because I

have not made any sales yet.

All right, moving on to payouts, now

this. Is why affiliates have chosen to be a

part of your business.

They want to get paid.

And so this was really important because
you need to make sure you take care of

your Affiliates as much as you expect
from them.

You should also return.

So you're going to see your payout ID,

how much you owe them, who the affiliate
is, what they were referred for on the

data referred they were referring on.

All right. So all of that information is

here. And then up at the top, you're going to

be able to see reports, you can manage
the referrals and you can also pay

affiliate. So if I click pay affiliates.

You can see I can put in the affiliates
name, put in the start date, put in the

end date.
It's going to pull all of that data for

me when I when the affiliate commissions
were actually made.

I can set a minimum amount of money that
needs to be generated or paid out so that

I'm not just paying out 5$ at a time.

Because a lot of places like PayPal or

Stripe or whatever, they do take a
percentage of every transaction.

So if you're paying off 5 bucks and they
take 10 % each time, I mean you're losing

money. Every time.

So anyway, that's just something to keep
in mind.

And then payout method.

You can do manual or you can do payout

services, you can connect PayPal or other
payment options, and then you'll preview

the payout and then you'll pay your
affiliate.

It's really nice.

You can do manual payouts or you can just

do mass payouts.

Everyone should have submitted their

emails or their payment information, and
then you can just send out a mass payment

at the beginning of every month or every
two weeks or depending on how often you

want to do payments.

All right, we're going to look here.

At visits now, this one is probably one
of my favorite pages because I can see

where the users who are being referred,
what page they're landing on, and who the

referring URL was.

So I can see all of the information here.

So if there's something that seems a
little bit fishy to me, just the other

week I had an affiliate who made a sale
and the customer contacted me.

The person was referred and said hey.

I clicked on this coupon.

They said there was a coupon, but I think
it was just an affiliate.

They were just trying to earn an
affiliate Commission.

So we were able to hunt them down because
I could go in here and see what the URL

was, and I could see, oh, they put that
URL behind a fake coupon button and then

of course they would be kicked out of the
program.

So this one's really nice.

It tells you if the person converted or

not, and then it gives their referral ID
and then the affiliate name.

So that's a really nice one here to kind
of keep track of affiliates and maybe if

there's any funny business.

Going on.

All right, next, here we have creatives.

This is a place where you can create

different images or sort of ad type
things.

If you want your, for example, your
Affiliates to put something in their

sidebar, you could build out a little
sidebar image that says, here's my

product, it's on sale, whatever.

You can do different promotions and you

can create those creatives here and add
them.

So if I just hit add new.

It's just going to give me the option

here to put a name in a description, a
URL, text, image, whatever it is.

And then those creatives can be used in
banners, it can be used in sidebars,

footers, whatever it is.

I mean just you can make nice graphics

for your affiliates and this is going to
help them promote your product.

So it is well worth your time to do this.

Next we have reports.

Reports are awesome.

Affiliate WP probably has some of the

best reports that I've seen.

I've worked on a few other affiliate

program platforms and it just wasn't as
helpful.

So here I can see my paid earnings all
time this month, unpaid earnings this

month, paid or unpaid referrals.

I can see my average referral amount.

So if I have multiple products I can see
Kawata.

My averaging paying I can see.

Trends throughout the year anyway.

There's a lot of really great things.

I can see different stats for my

affiliates. I can see total affiliates, new

affiliates, top earning affiliates,
highest converting affiliates.

And the beauty of this here is that you
can identify who is making you the most

money and you can give them incentives to
push them out even harder.

And if you see someone who's struggling
or they're just not really doing them out

that much for your program, then you can
just kick them out, get rid of them

because. Really this is about you moving your

business forward.
So if they're not participating really,

then what's the point of them being there
anyway?

There's a lot of great stats here.

You can look at payouts, you can look at

visits, you can look at different
campaigns.

So if you created, let's say you created
one of those creatives and you said, OK,

everyone put this in your sidebar.

We're doing a sale this month.

You can actually go and do a campaign and
say, hey, this month we did this much

money. We did this, my top referrer was this,

you can do a lot of really cool.

Things and as long as you have your all

of your affiliates set up correctly, it
just pulls all that data for you.

All right, Next up, we have tools.

Now this is where we're talking a little

bit more setup sort of things.

So if you have a previous affiliate

program and you want to import all of
your old Affiliates, then you can import

or you can export a CSV with all of those
things in there.

So if you're moving from an affiliate
program that you want to switch off of,

then you can move all of your Affiliates.

You can also export affiliates.

You can export payouts, payout visit,
different visits, settings, all of those

different things.
Anything that, any data that you want to

import or export, you can do that.

If you want to work with your payout data

and say OK, over this last year I've paid
out this much, we've made this much, how

was that different from last year?
You know, you can work with a lot of

different numbers that way.

So there's a lot of options here for the

import and import and export options.

Also as far as the API keys, you are

depending on what.

Means you're working with.

Depending on what connections you're
making with other platforms or services,

you may need to have API keys or generate
API keys, so I've not done that.

That's probably something in the
beginning you won't have to worry about.

Let's see recount affiliate stats.

This tool to use this tool to recount

affiliate statistics.
Again, just a nice thing that they have

there for you.

They have a migration assistant again if

you're going to be migrating different
things, different accounts or different

files or anything like that.

And then system info.

I'm going to show you this here now on
the screen but also blur it out because

it shows my system info and this is all
just good information for you to have and

then settings.

All those settings that we just looked at

more than likely are not going to have to
worry about them in the beginning.

Those are probably more on the complex
side, but they're good to know that

they're there.
All right, so our settings here, well,

let's just walk through all these
settings.

So in order to make an active account for
your affiliate WP, you're going to log

into affiliate WWP, pay, download, upload
the plugin, and then you're going to go

back to your Philly WWP account and
you're going to have to enter a license

key. This is just how they keep track of how

many people have it on their right or if
I have, if I paid to have it on three

sites and I try and put it on four, they
won't allow it.

So anyway I need to put in a license key
and then I need to create certain pages

from my affiliate so they can log in.

So here there will be an affiliate area

where it will show them their link, it
will show them their stats, it'll show

them their payouts, it's going to show
them all of those things.

So my affiliate area here I can choose
what page I would like that on.

They have it already set and they've pre
created pages.

So when you download.

Or upload the plugin.

I mean it will have pages on there kind
of pre made for you so but that is there

and then as soon as you publish this page
you'll have your affiliate area.

This will also help you find out and
create the login and logout space.

So for logged out users your affiliate
area should show as a login or a sign up

page and then once they've logged in it
will show the affiliate area.

That is something that kind of confused
me for a while that I had to work through

a little bit.

All right terms of use.

You can create a terms of use page and
then link it here referral settings.

You can change what the referral link
looks like so you can change it to really

whatever you want.

Right now it's just ref, but if you want

the link to look like something else or
to say something else, then you can do

that. You can also show whether you like the

link to have their user ID or their
affiliate ID or their user name.

Again, that's just up to you.

I don't think there's a better or best.

Way, but it's just whatever you think is
best.

All right, this shows here whether you
can use pretty links.

So if I was wanting to make a
recommendation to a certain company and I

just wanted to make a pretty link, this
will decide if they want me to do that or

not. This is a really cool setting here.

Credit the last affiliate who referred
the customer so you can choose who gets

the affiliate Commission.

So let's say I'm someone who's

interested, interested in a product, and
I go watch 10 YouTube videos of people

who are kind of affiliates or referring
or reviewing this product.

If I click on the 1st link, then that
cookie there, that will that link will be

valid for probably 10 to 15 days
depending on what you set it for.

We're going to get to that setting in a
minute, but then if I go watch another

review. And I click on that one, then that

invalidates the last link that I clicked.

So by this setting here, you can see that

it will allow you to choose who gets the
affiliate Commission.

So you can choose, let's see where did it
go credit the last affiliate who referred

the customer.

So you can either make it so the first

link they clicked gets the affiliate
Commission or you can make it so that the

last click gets the affiliate Commission.

It's whatever you think is fair.

Personally I think it's more fair that
whoever brought them in to the brand,

whoever introduced them to the brand, it
seems to me like they should get the

Commission. But again it's up to you here again you

can change site wide your referral type
percentage or flat rate referral rate.

Here you'll see if the referral excludes
shipping and tax.

Here you can set your cookie expiration,
expiration so you can say alright they

click the link and then what this means
is that they have one day.

So if I set it for one it will be.

One day that they have to buy within for

the affiliate to get the Commission.

I think it depends on the product.

It depends on how much the product costs.

If it's like a 5$ product, a one or two

day Cookie is probably good.

If it's an expensive product like 500$

then maybe set the cookie length for 15
days or 30 days because someone is less

likely to spend 500$ the first time they
click through the link.

So in order to be fair to the affiliate,
it's good to set different cookie

lengths. Depending on how much the product costs.

Alright here you can just look at.

You can choose different currency symbols

depending on where you are.

You can choose where you want the symbol

placed. I don't really care, but sure you can do

thousands separator, decimal separator
and then affiliate form.

So affiliate registration form and
affiliate login form.

So you can select which forms you would
like to show here.

Now I did mention that you can actually
create your own form and you would do

that here.
Up at the top, so it's affiliate WP

integrates with different form options.

I think one is ninja forms.

It works with ninja forms.

So you could download a free version of

Ninja Forms, Create a ninja form and say
all of your affiliate application

questions make a form in Ninja forms.

And then here you can choose that your

affiliate area forms would be.

And then it's going to show that ninja

form here if you link your ninja forms.

Do affiliate WP.

So the way that you do that is through
integrations.

And you can see here contact form 7
formidable gravity forms and then ninja

forms. So I use ninja forms.

So if I click that check mark then I can
save the changes and then my ninja form

will show there and then I can use my
ninja form rather than the pre built form

that they gave me.

So these are all the integrations that

affiliate WP has.

There are a lot and there's different

form ones, downloads, there's just a lot
here, membership plugins and programs.

Paypal different payment options?
There's different carts available so

pretty much everything that you could
need.

There is a tool available that it will
link with.

Alright, so if you have a product and opt
in product then you can set an amount for

your affiliates to receive for each opt
in referral status you can set depending

or unpaid and then a message sent to the
opt in showing opt in success.

So you can customize that message here
that will send to your affiliate every

time someone opt in opt in.

I don't use this setting.

But if that is something that would work
for you, it's very simple, very easily

laid out here.

All right.

Next up we have are the emails.

So you remember earlier that you can have

emails present to your affiliates when
they make sales or when they sign up or

when they're accepted to the program.

Here is the place where you're going to

configure all of those emails.

So the first one is you can do a logo on

your email whatever email template.

If you wanted to put templates, that's

fine, you can choose who is the email
from.

You can choose the name and then the
actual email.

Address you can choose to have email
notifications sent to you when these

tasks happen and if you don't want those
then uncheck the boxes and then affiliate

manager email you can have here.

So that will be that people can contact

you. And then here you can see there's this

line break here and then this is going to
show you what this email is for all right

next email here new referral email
options for affiliate manager so you see

all of these.

4 affiliate manager, that's you are the

affiliate manager.
So all of these emails will be sent to

you unless you opt out of them.

So again, that's up to you.

And then here, new referral email options
for affiliates.

So these are the ones that will be sent
out to other people.

You're going to want to configure these
because your Affiliates going to want to

know if they've made a sale.

They're going to want to know if they've

been accepted to the program.

And so here's where you'll do that.

So here we go.

Right here, new referral email subject

OK, so this is what the email will say
now.

This one 's going to show when they've
got a new referral.

Here's another one that shows that their
applications been accepted.

And then so those are the basic emails
that you're going to need to configure.

They already have some base text here,
but if you want to personalize it at all,

these emails can be personalized.

Next up, we have the Misk section,

everything that doesn't fit anywhere
else.

So allow affiliates to register.

Accounts themselves.

I don't want that for my affiliate
program.

If you want that for yours, great.

Require approval. Yes I do want that.

Auto register new users, no logout link.

Yes default referral URL so I can choose.

Do I want there to be one URL across the
board or do I want to let them have their

own URL?
Again, up to you.

I can enable recaptcha just to prevent
bots and other things like that.

That's up to you.

I don't do that.

I'm reject unpaid referrals on refund.

Again, up to you.

There's a lot of really good settings
here.

I don't really do any of these.

But again, depending on your concern with

security and with all these different
things, not to say I'm not concerned with

security, but I think some of these are
just not necessary generally.

All right, that's all of your missed
here.

And then payout services, this is where
you'll connect your PayPal, your other

sort of things.

And then you can connect to affiliate WP

Payout services and then basically once
you're all your payments are connected

here, you're going to be ready to go.

There are additional add-ons that you can

put into affiliate WP to make it more
full function.

You can do rest API extended either ZAP
here there's more landing page options,

Direct link tracking, custom slugs, ninja
forms.

Here's that ninja form one that I was
talking about.

You're going to want that.

Went on.

There's just so many.

You're gonna want this PayPal payouts

anyway. There are tons of add-ons, so depending

on what you need you can add those on.

I do believe there are additional costs

and this one is just the very base
version.

I didn't pay for the highest version on
this tutorial, but you can and then

you'll have all of these for free.

So anyway, that's a complete walkthrough

through affiliate WP.

Affiliate WP is a great opportunity for

you to make more money in your business
and you don't have to worry about the

traffic. All you have to do is make connections

with people and then have them help you
grow your business.
