- Okay here's the deal

Jason represents a Seventies
folk group The Ramblers.

You're two are too young to know
who they are.

But they had a great following
on college campuses.

Well they're
doing a nostalgia tour.

- Like a comeback tour?

- No this is
strictly for charity.

All the money is going
hungry children.

But between you and me

there are several recording
companies have shown some
interest.

And I have some big venue
promoters coming up from LA.

- so it could be a comeback

- Knock on wood.

- Well then, they need a concert
venue,

Now Jason called my agency
and I checked

and the school gyms are booked

the park has insurance issues

and our restaurants don't want
to disrupt their business.

And I can't because of the
Sullivan wedding.

But you have that
lovely area out front,

perfect for an
outdoor concert.

For charity.

- All right I
know we're not talking
about the Dixie Chicks here.

But The Ramblers could
bring in a decent crowd.

Get you some good
promotion for your bookstore.

- I've never heard of The
Ramblers.

- They played college campuses
in the late Sixties and
Seventies.

Their one big hit was Mick, The
Magic Mushroom.

Of course at the time I thought
Mick was a kid's puppet

character like Big Bird on
Sesame Street.

The whole magic mushroom
reference went way over my head.

- So you are into ancient

- Just The Ramblers

Don't tell anyone

but I know every lyric to every
song they ever recorded.

I would listen to
their 8 track tapes

when I went to sleep at night

when I woke up in the morning.

They were the
soundtrack to my childhood.

- I ran into some friends at the

that suspended all of the alarm
systems including backup.

A few weeks later in
Toledo another bank was
hit the exact same way.

Now the FBI, they are looking
for a bank robber with computing
skills.

I've decided to look for a
computer hacker who turned into
a bank robber.

somebody wanted to kill him.

for Mr. Hurd. Did they say who
they were?

- No they said they had an

I gave them the room number,

He's a record producer and an
importer exporter.

-Does he have one blue eye and

- We're going to find out. They
picked him up in LA and brought
him back here.

- Only if Chief Chuckie doesn't

what was the purpose of your
meeting with Jason Hurd?

- I'm a record producer

possible recording contract for
The Ramblers.

- What about the other man?

Chief I gotta tell you
I really admire a man

who can do his duty
regardless of consequences.

- You've got a murder in a small

A cult group from the 1970's.

- [laughs] They weren't that
famous.

- No seriously once the 24 hour
news service pick this up

you're gonna need crowd control.
PR people.

Or you could just check
out Carly's alibi before
you arrest her.

- My primary suspect is still
Marshall Bolen.

- That's true.

Marshall Bolen's history as a
record producer

Amounts to cheating bands out of
their royalties.

So why would Jason Hurd
want to go into business with a
crook like Bolen?

- That's a good question.

And Bolen's other career is
equally interesting.

On the IRS database he's listed
as an importer exporter.

His 'Pier 12' company appears to
be successful. On paper.

- Which means there's a problem.

- Yeah, importer exporters they
store their goods in warehouses
here and abroad.

On the IRS return, Pier 12
doesn't show any warehouses.

- So where does he
stash the goods?

If there are any goods?

- The medical examiner
said Jason was killed
between 5 and 7.

That leaves a half hour of
Carly's time unaccounted for.

- I don't understand. I can't
smoke in my own salon.

But I can breathe perm fumes and
hair spray all day long.

It doesn't make any sense.

So Francine when Carly was in
the other day

was waiting for her hair color
to set...

- I don't think so.

you'd leave town.

- [Sam] And then two or three
days later that local bank would
get robbed.

-[Philby] And no one would think
to connect your concert
with a bank robberies.

The men who cam to
see Jason were ex-cons.

They helped him with the
robberies.

And then they
laundered the money.

One of the men, Murdoch

He had a juvenile record.

As a teenager he spent 18 months

for hacking into the Pentagon.

He could crack
any security system.

And he did.

-[Sam] On the day of the murder
Murdoch and Bolen came to

exchange the laundered money
from Jason.

Steven waited until they left.
Killed Jason and took the money.

-[Carli] Steven found out what
Jason was doing and killed him
for it.

-[Sam] Actually Steven killed
Jason because Jason wouldn't
cut him in.

Aw, this is incredible.

- And so, Steven planted the
knife in my room.

- Yes, for revenge.

- What?

- Revenge? For what?

- Steven has known for years
that Harmony wasn't his son.

- He felt that you
two had betrayed him.

- Steven applied for an
insurance policy.

To cover Harmony he had to get a
copy of his birth certificate.

[sighs] And how did you figure
out Steven did it?

- You two had an alibi.

[Sam] Carli was at Francine's

-Do I look hot or what darling?

[Sam] Steven said that he was
having a broken guitar
string replaced.

[Philby] We found his guitar.

[Steven] Hey I've got a
question. Where's my guitar?

[Sam] Hey would you mind if I
kept it like as a souvenir?

All the strings were worn. Not
one of them new.

And you were out getting a
poster.

[Dan] Hey that store down the
street, Nostalgia, it's terrific

Steven lied about where he was.

And he had the opportunity.

To kill Jason Hurd.

-So in the end
Steven gets the money.

And gets revenge on the people
who betrayed him.
