I joined the search
a year and a half ago.

And in all of this time
I haven't found

one single reliable lead.

I don't know
if the Hannibal Police

are even working on this case

because they won't return
my phone calls.

At this point,
I'm starting to question

everything that I've ever
heard about Christina

and the events surrounding
her disappearance.

I mean, is her mom
hiding something?

What would be Cindy's motivation

to do that to me?

of questions now

that I want some answers to.

I think if they're lying to me

and I don't know why

upsetting to me because listen,

I'm an independent filmmaker.

I started doing this
on missing adults.

I've done a lot for the family

because they don't have
any money.

I'm not being paid.

I got paid in the first...
In the beginning,

but that money dried up
pretty quick.

This is rather expensive.

All of the money
that I've spent,

out of my pocket,
but the facts are the facts.

Uh, I'm gonna follow up on it

because I'm in the middle
of this now.

It involves me and my integrity.

I've done all kinds
of database searches.

When I was doing that,
I ran across

all kinds of different
Facebook accounts.

They're soliciting money
in some of those accounts.

I know that there's
charitable organizations

in Peoria that gave
them food, money, rent,

possibility to stay
in places and everything.

You invested a lot of money,

a lot of time, a lot of effort.

And your efforts, and your time,

and your creativity
might be taken advantage of.

And if this, in fact,
this is that,

that destroys everything
you're trying to do

and it makes this film,
uh, something else.

I'm about to go
to Cindy and Alex's house.

I really don't know what to do

with this information at all.

It's, like, I set out
to do this project

to help families
who have been abused

by people and people
who are, you know, victims

of other people trying
to take advantage of them.

And I'm now finding myself
getting taken advantage of

by a family of a missing person.

Like that is blowing my mind.

You know, these people
are supposed to be

the victims and I'm trying
to do what I can to help them

not be vulnerable and naive.

And I just found out that
I am vulnerable and naive.

She's lied to me
about Christina's history.

- And I don't know why.

what they have to say
about Christina

and what they know
about a drug debt.

root of the truth here

Well, she lost her
license, she was 17.

I'm thinking either 17 or 18.

And she had
hit-and-run a vehicle

and lost her license for it.

And, you know really,
that's the only trouble

she'd ever been in.

I mean, she'd never been
in trouble for drugs

or you know, alcohol-related,

you know, nothing like that.

I'm sitting back
and I'm talking to Bill.

He was bringing up this idea

that there was like a drug debt.

That Christina
had involvement in drugs

- before she went missing?
- And he told me that,

that different ones
have told him that.

- Who told him that?

- I have no idea.

her daughter was into drugs,

she just didn't want to see it.

has a past,

doesn't change the fact
that she is missing.

was little, she was like 12 there,

We never had any
trouble with her until, like,

she started dating.
She's, like, 16 or something.

And she got a little
wild hair up her butt...

to date him.

to not be paranoid

and then all of a sudden,

we come across a photo
of Darcy Morris?

The man who Cindy believes

snatched her daughter
off the street.

that she talked to when...

because she was in there I think

for suicidal tendencies.

The cops brought her in.
I'm sure.

- They had to have. And...
- Why would they not

have it on record,

- You'd think they would.
- Because she didn't

- get arrested.
- Yeah, that's true.

If she don't get arrested,

they're not gonna
put it on record.

We started hanging
out, talking in there, you know.

We were sitting down
and I was looking

at her tattoos.

And she was, you know,
kind of talking

about her tattoos at first.

She started telling me about,

"You know, I'm not originally
from around here."

I'm like, "Oh, really,
where are you from?"

She said, "Hannibal."

And I was like,
"Well, how in the world

did you get all the way
here from Hannibal?"

And she was like, "Well,
it's kind of a long story."

She said she had been out

drinking with some friends.

She said she was walking
home from the bar.

And all of a sudden,
she got grabbed from behind

and thrown in a trunk.

She said that
they rode for a while.

And they took her
to this house

not too far outside of Hannibal

and they put her in a basement.

She stayed down there.

There was guys going in and out.

And they were raping her,

and just kind of
beating her and...

They had sold her to somebody.

I guess it was a guy

that liked her
particularly well.

She went back in the trunk.

It was a long ride.

They got her out of a trunk

and put her into
a locked bedroom.

And the guy that bought her,

I guess, he was from Peoria.

I hate to even say
it in front of Cindy

because I know
how bad it bothers her,

but she stayed there
for a couple weeks

and there was guys
are going in and out.

They were shooting her
up with heroin

to make her where she
wouldn't fight so much.

And then, one of her
other tricks

decided they liked her,
and that guy kind of beat up

the guy that she was with,
and kind of just took her.

Said, "Okay you're free now."

Why wouldn't you think
she'd call home at that moment?

When he said,
"You're free now."?

I don't know.

Maybe she won't
wanna leave here.

I still want to see her,
you know what I mean?

I mean, I'm not gonna try
to just snatch her up

and grab her, you know,
I've got my mind,

you know where I'm just...
I still want to...

but, you know...
I just wanna hug her,

and love her, and tell her
that I love her.

And I'm always here
if she needs me.

It's 4:39 already,

I can't get over
how in depth

Patricia's story is,

but there are just some things
about it

that do not make sense.

- That... I know quite a bit more.

But there is some stuff
that I don't think

should ever have to be
said to a mom.

There are no known records
of Christina Whitaker

receiving treatment
at any hospital.

Anybody ever told you

- about the cuts on her arms?
- No.

She doesn't look like
she's got any scars

on her head that I could see.

No.

And she has been stabbed.

It's pretty
convenient for Patricia

to say that Christina
didn't share her identity

with anyone else
other than her at the hospital

even though she was there
for weeks.

Heck, for a while there,
she was going by Butterfly,

then she was going by Chrissy.

I didn't even know
what her real name was

until you guys told me.

Patricia's narrative
is strikingly similar

to Cindy's narrative
that Christina

was snatched off the street
into sex trafficking.

And she always
has a sugar daddy

that she usually uses
to help her prostitute.

Wow.

I can't really confirm

how Cindy and Patricia met.

Or if Patricia
is just feeding off

of Cindy's story.

So I don't know how she saw

this car with Christina in it.

a 21-year-old mother
went missing

in Hannibal, Missouri.

Her desperate mother
called for my help.

And today, we'll attempt
to find out

what really happened
to her missing daughter.

I want to find the answers.
I want to know.

to do with it?

You know, I didn't
do nothing to your daughter.

Pretty wild to see Cindy

suggested

with granny and stuff.

And she knew I took
good care of Christine.

She knew I loved her.

When she first came up missing,

I was the only one,

the only one who threw up
any money. Period.

And the result
for Travis's lie detector test

is that he did not tell
the truth.

What happened, Travis?

That lie detector was rough.

They ask you the most
awful questions,

and the show itself was a rodeo.

I did not do nothing
to that girl. I swear to God.

you better live out of state,

You know I could track you.

I did find it odd.

Because initially,
she was so positive

that Christina was being held
against her will

by sex traffickers.

However, on the show,

all of a sudden
just played along

with a script, it seemed.

If it wasn't scripted,
it's a complete contradiction

of everything that she provided,

you know, us and the police.

Get off my stage.

I got off that show,
I couldn't even see straight,

I could not,
didn't know where I was at.

About a week later
after the show,

we've done a better
fence for her,

and we got along good
then you know, that's why...

she started texting me
after the show.

I'm like, "What in the world?"

She went from
accusing you on the stage

of killing Christina
to just texting you

like everything's normal or...

Yeah, right after the show.

If you're not looking
for signs

or indications of possible
manipulation,

you're not going to catch it.

You know,
you'll just slowly slip

into the story and the drama

that they want to draw you into.

Does Cindy change her narrative

based on her audience?

I feel like...

I'm completely back
at square one.

The good news is that

now that I have my own
investigators,

I'm not alone.

So, to me, the first person
of interest in this entire case

is Danny Baker
because he's the one

who was in possession
of the only piece

of evidence in the case,
which is the cell phone.

Darcy Morris is Cindy's

number one target in the case.

Actually,
Darcy just got out of jail

for some retail theft

and he posted
on social media recently

that people are accusing him

of killing his own cousin
and said,

"People are trying to pin
that murder on me,

just like four years ago."

And said, "This partly
goes out to the lady

who thought I had something
to do with your baby.

"I'm hoping you find out
about her."

- Wow.
- Yeah, he wrote that

as a message to Cindy.

So Cindy told me that she saw
the post and messaged him,

but I don't think
she's gotten a response back.

I've actually messaged Darcy
a number of times

and I've never heard back.

was trying to get in touch

with the Hannibal police
to do an interview

about the case and, um,

they wouldn't return
my phone calls.

it didn't occur to me because

I had always believed
Cindy's version of Christina.

We have the young lady
who is by all accounts

where she said she saw

she comes out and gets
into a red car

right at the same corner,
same color hair,

exactly like in some
of the photos.

And I couldn't get her face.

It's like she wouldn't turn
to face me.

I was told that you
actually had seen Christina.

I've seen her a lot
in the south end of Peoria.

That's... My part-time job
is down here, and that's...

We've seen her a lot
down that area.

There's an apartment building

that has a lot of drug activity.

Prostitutes hang out there.

She's been seen going in
and out of there

and then just walking down
the street.

the way she looked?

it was brown.

She wasn't heavy,
but she wasn't real thin,

probably about my build,
I'm gonna say.

I just hope that
she's found safe

and get straightened up

because it's gonna take a lot.

because the family believes

that she's kind of brainwashed
into thinking

that she can't go home, if she
was tricked into this lifestyle...
