Ukrainian troops carried out a successful
counterattack in the Kharkiv region, liberating

settlements that had been under Russian army
control for months.

Ukrainian troops managed to recapture a great
deal of territory in the northeast of the

country in just a few days.

The military success is explained by U.S.
Army General Ben Hodges.

It is a combination of three circumstances.

First, the Russian troops are exsanguinated,
their logistics are depleted, and a significant

part of the officer corps has been decimated.

Over the last couple of months we have seen
a deterioration of morale in the Russian troops,

they have no desire to fight.

Secondly, the weapons provided by the West,
especially missile systems, are having an

impact.

These kinds of capabilities have really helped
disrupt or destroy Russian logistics, artillery,

and command posts, really creating a lot of
problems for the Russians in their territories,

making it difficult for them to understand
what is going on and respond promptly.

And third, it is a credit to the Ukrainian
General Staff and the AFU, led by General

Zaluzhny.

They are disciplined.

They've done a good job of protecting information
and operational security.

They deceived the Russians about where the
main strike was supposed to take place, they

talked openly about an attack on Kherson,
while the main strike was actually in the

north.

So we are witnessing really the highest level
of execution of tactical planning.

The Russians were deceived, as were many other
observers.

And that's why they started moving forces
to Kherson.

Of course, Kherson is very important.

And eventually we will see Ukrainian troops
reach there as well.

But the real purpose, it seems to me, was
that they wanted the Russians to focus on

Kherson.

This is what we call reflexive control.

And that created a much weaker place where
the Ukrainians were able to attack.

In response, we see Moscow's complete silence
about this defeat, Moscow is confused.

That's probably a shock.

In this system, accurate information has never
reached the top of the authoritarian rulers,

which Vladimir Putin is.

On a personal note, when the head of a country
lives in a so-called warm bath, and in this

case in a quiet bunker, it always ends badly
for him and his surroundings.
