Project Runway is the chance of a lifetime.

There's five of us left.

I was surprised that Ricky was the one sent home.

I'm happy that I dodged that bullet.

I so do not feel ready to go.

I think that a lot of the designers
are kind of freaking out,

but I'm used to the moment that comes
when you have to do it.

It's been a dream for me to be a designer
since probably the age of 5.

So, this is rooted on the much deeper level.

I came here to show in Fashion Week,
and I'm hopeful that I get there.

Let's hope it's not a group challenge.

Before we talk about your next challenge,
let's bring out the winning and losing designers' models.

Models, this is a competition for you, too.

The model paired with the winning designer
will get a fashion spread in Elle magazine.

Chris, you were the winner of the last challenge.

So you have the option of swapping models
with a fellow designer.

Your model was Marcia.

If you decide to stay with her,

The other designers were like,
"Museums and fabulous stores."

- You guys, we go to the left.
- I'm so excited.

We were kind of speculating, well,

"What's east of Madison Avenue,
that's worth going to visit?"

- Wow.
- Yeah.

We arrived in front of Metropolitan Museum of Art.

I've never been to it,
so it's quite exciting.

Designers, welcome to the Metropolitan Museum of Art,
one of the premier arts and cultural institutions in the world.

Follow me inside, and I'll tell you
about your next challenge, okay?

Come on up.

The first thing I noticed walking in,
it's huge.

It was like a great privilege to be part of the final 5
in the Metropolitan Museum of Art when no one else there.

There's nothing more phenomenal and inspiring
in this country.

Designers, throughout time, art has served
as a critical and essential inspiration for fashion.

For your next challenge, you will choose a work of art
to serve as the inspiration for a look of your choice.

I'm extremely happy.
This is every designer's dream.

That's amazing.
What more can any of us ask for it?

It's just about art work.

The Met contains 5,000 years of art,
and as one of the largest museums in the world,

so we've narrowed the galleries
which you will choose your inspiration to three.

The Greek and Roman sculpture courtyard
where we are now.

The European painting wing,
and the Temple of Dandur.

You will have 45 minutes to seek your inspiration.

And I have cameras for each of you
to record the source of your inspiration.

Your 45 minutes will begin now.
Let's go, okay?

The first room is the Roman and Greek
sculptures gallery.

And nothing could've been better for me.

Let's face it.
Rami is going to be choosing this section.

There is no way he's not making
something Grecian and draped.

There were so many things I was in love with,

but this statue of Aphrodite was sort of like
soul mate situation for me.

It was like, instantly meeting my match.

After that, we headed to the European painting gallery.

And of course, for me,
that was most exciting part.

Just because I love European art.

I'm really inspired by
this beautiful Spanish military painting.

There were so many amazing paintings in there,
and there's actual clothing on people.

There was no one there,
and it was so cool.

I probably could have touched the painting,
but I didn't.

We are too net.

The Temple of Dandur is an Egyptian temple that was lifted
from Egypt and put in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

It's incredible. It's almost like you're looking
at a movie set, but it's real.

Look at this, Joan Rivers carved her initials in here
when she was a little girl.

That's fierce.

Oops.

- We're very lucky, all of us.
- I know.

I think it was more the experience of being in the room
that was inspiring.

It was almost spiritual.

All right, everybody.
Our time is up at the mast.

- But what an experience?
- It was great.

Let's head back to Parsons.

I took like 238 pictures.

I wanna just pick something that I like,
focus on it and get to work.

- Pretty amazing.
- Hopefully, there are no surprise there.

All right, designers. Choose one of the
photographs of the works of art, okay? / Okay.

You have one hour to sketch,

and then we are going to have half an hour at Mood,
where you have a budget of 300 dollars.

You have two days for this challenge,

and the styling and makeup will be critical elements
in the evaluation of this challenge, all right?

So keep that in mind as you're designing.

- I'm doing a men's outfit.

You're doing like a female version of that.

I chose this fabulous Spanish military inspired,
almost it's Zorro like painting.

I didn't want it to be costumey necessarily,
I wanted it to be more high-fashion, avant-garde.

- What one are you using?
- Peacock.

Peacock? I was thinking of that one.

I love it.

I don't feel shameful about choosing Aphrodite.

I connect with Grecian draping, because I know that
it's something I'm extremely passionate about.

And, this is what I do.

All right, designers.
You ready to go shopping?

My inspiration is a peacock.

I found the beautiful purple, teal, and rusty red
that I think I just gonna be fantastic.

- I put down that the boning, so where is it...
- It's in your hand.

I mean, I need so much stuffs.

I need like 10 yards of organza in white,
then I need about 15 yards of cotton.

Can I have whatever you can get me on that row?

I wanna wow them,
I don't wanna be safe at all.

I think that this painting in particular
Master of the Argonauts

with the armor that they used to wear
during the fight was inspiring.

I'm trying to express certain edge side of myself.

Let's gonna have a whole like corset dress thing
out of the oyster stuff.

The colors are pretty.

The painting that I chose as my inspiration
is a portrait of an 18th century noble woman,

and I wanted to do a really super modern
couture version of that idea.

- Honey, are there any fabric left at Mood?
- No.

We all have in the back of our heads
that two people are going home.

So I think that people are feeling that
they need to like, overdesign and add more pieces,

who has the biggest color and the biggest lead
that's probably gonna get the attention.

- That'll give us some poofs.
- Yeah, it will.

It's not always to me about who's the loudest.

I'm not here to make noise,
I'm here to make beautiful work.

- It's creepy.
- I know.

Are you making a collection, honestly?

- Oh, my god.
- He's making like 15 pieces.

I'm like making my pattern.

This is the last challenge,
I have to do something.

I sew fast, get over it.

I think, at this level on the competition

I was getting ready to put my business
before I came here,

because it takes a lot to do your own line
and I'm currently out of funds,

so in a way, I need to win,
because it will save my business.

So this is an inspiration,

I feel good about the dress.

It's not necessarily the loudest piece,
but it certainly makes a strong statement.

Chris's dress was very costume like,
and over the top.

It was very similar to the dress
that me and him already created,

so it was a little weird.

Not that much.

I have to move on to the dress.

The coat fits her perfectly,

but the most difficult part is
just the full execution.

the overall makeup look for the L'oreal Paris challenge.

So this is a great opportunity for you
to think outside of your outfits.

What we wanna do is use makeup
as an intricate part of your artistic expression.

Cool.

So we're going to begin with Chris and Marcia.

We can take this pewter color
and work into the eye.

I do think it's a beautiful complement
to her skin tone.

- It would be a bright pink.
- I love that.

We could actually make her very androgynous.
Like, make her brow very masculine.

Yeah, I'd love really strong brow.

The point here is to really make her look
wear Joan of Arc.

- Not overly feminine.
- That's so fun.

So what will you suggest?

Grecian-y feminine,
but there's still an edgyness to it.

I think my design aesthetic has
the very European, classic effect.

I graduated a high school and basically
moved to London for about three years.

Ooh, yeah, yeah.

Started working with Alexander McQueen,
Vivienne Westwood,

and I definitely think that helped me grow the most.

I know that I'm the youngest designer,

but truthfully like I think I have the most
cohesive ideas out of everyone.

and this is basically what I consider the feathers.

But they are not feathery.

Also, I just wish that peacock will be a little more
apparent and exuberant in a way.

And of course it isn't something I would see on the form,

Yeah, I'm gonna try and
figure something out here.

I'm doing well.
I'm just cutting the lining for the jacket.

I was just so excited because she looked
kind of like some couture cinderella.

And it looked really elegant,
and you know, really expensive.

Christian Siriano
Model : Lisa

That outfit was so hot.

I know it's really avant-garde
and kind of over the top,

but for the runway for show,
it was perfect, it was fabulous.

I love every second of it.

Rami Kashou
Model : Sam

I'm pretty confident about the way Sam looks.

The dress fits perfectly on her,
I'm passionate about draping,

but it could go either way for me
considering that the judges wanted to see variety of things.

Sweet P
Model : Lea

I liked the design of this dress.

I feel like I'm a good designer,

I'm good at merchandising,
I understand what sells.

I thought it looked great on her.

Jillian Lewis
Model : Lauren

I think I did a good job with mine.

There were definitely a little issues here and there,
but I don't see those anymore.

I represented myself the way I wanted to.

Okay, I would like to start with Christian.

Well, I actually chose a Spanish painting.

A lot of my work has been a play
on masculine and feminine.

I tried to create as many pieces
that could be worn different ways.

What's going on into the bust?

Actually, you could completely remove this,
and to the blouse.

I love very much.

Because I know how much love you put
when you create something like that.

In the moment that you take off this jacket,

I start to appreciate the details of the shirt.

- Thank you very much.
- Thank you.

You really think about the show.

And you have the ability to, also,
think practically.

I think it's super, super, super chic.

Great. Thank you.

Chris, tell us about your design.

My design is based on an 18th century painting
of a French noble woman.

And I wanted to do a kind of modern couture version.

I think this, Chris, is really maybe
the most artistic for all of you.

I can see you show in the future
your collection in Paris.

Maybe the haute couture.

That's what I love.

Well, certainly you understand drama.

But I will say it's a little reminiscent of
what we already saw from you with the shoulder piece.

I was thinking the same thing.

We kind of forget how beautiful the dress really is
when we've seen it before.

It's kind of the way that I wanted to reinterprete
the big pewter colored bow on the front of her dress.

If you take that piece out,
it would've still been beautiful.

And I'm sure that you have
other tricks of your sleeve.

- It's not just this one.
- Right.

- And that's what I wanted to see.
- Okay.

Jillian.

My inspiration was the Master of Argonauts.

I felt like I could interpret in a way
that was very modern.

I love your interpretation of this.

- You keep me surprised and in a good way.
- Okay.

The details are fantastic,
especially in the back, I like very much.

I would be very happy
to have you on my staff.

Oh, that would be an honor, thank you.

As soon as she open the coat,
and it was gold inside, I was like,

"Woo! Boom!"
I was like, "Wow!"

You know, you're giving a nod to the painting,
but I don't think it at all looks like costume.

I think the dress does great things for her body.

You know, and that's what clothes suppose to do.

Okay, Sweet P.

I was immediately grabbed by this Dutch painting
called Peacocks.

It looks like a print to me when I looked at it.

I think it's a nice dress, wearable, flattering,

you know, but it's show.
You know, it's a show.

This dress is the one that you have
in the showroom to sell.

I agree completely with you.

What is more fantasy than...
peacock tail?

I think that you should do something more...
more special.

You do make a lot of sweet daytime dresses,
wearable dresses.

I know you know how to make commercial clothes,
I need to see the next thing.

And Rami, tell us about your design.

I found much beauty in the sculptures
that pretty much resembled movement and flow,

and I picked one that had an ease
about the drape in it,

'cause I'm very passionate about draping.

It's too normal.

You are here because you have to show
what you can do.

I just feel passionate about the subject
and it was presented to me in this challenge.

Sometimes an idea can be interesting
without having to be screaming out loud.

I know you're talented,

I know you have great taste.

And I expect more from you.

You know how to make a dress
that many women would like to wear.

- I would. I like it.
- Thank you.

It's a lovely dress.

But how predictable that you picked drapery
from Rome and Greece.

I mean, come on.

That's the first thing I thought.

We always know it's gonna be beautiful,
it's gonna be wearable,

and it's always Grecian drapery.

But why is it so negative
that I love to drape? / It's not negative.

Everytime I tell you the same thing.
I wanna see more.

I'm really curious to see if you can do more.

I want to see you out of this box.

So what did we think of today's show?

I think that we saw some pretty
wonderful looking clothes,

and some that were not as extravagant and imaginative
that I would've liked to see.

What did you guys think about Jillian's?

- The jacket was nice.
- Yeah, it was beautiful.

- And the back was beautiful.
- Yeah, it was nice.

I think her clothes were impeccable.

I've been surprised by her designs.

She's ballsy.

You know, she's all quiet,
but her pieces aren't gonna be quiet.

And it's more commercial vision that she has,

But that doesn't make for fashion.

He made the wrong choice taking something
that was memorable and doing it twice.

But I will say that looked like couture dress.

My vote was the highest, honestly.

Because I saw art in this piece.

But yet again, he do think that he played it safe.

But I do have to say,
he has drama in his blood.

There is undeniably that factor.

He's a showman.
He's a real showman.

I mean, our taste or not our taste,
he will put on a show. / Totally.

Rami.

- He, technically, is a very good designer,
- He's very very good. / Yes.

But he doesn't want to take any risks.

You don't get ahead if you don't take risks.

I like his work, I think it's sophisticated,
it's well done,

I just think that I want him to show me
something else that he can do.

I agree with Nina.

He's a smart driven designer
who is passionate about fashion,

and those are all the things that you have to be.

This is a really tough decision.
