disappeared to investigate.

to state law in Missouri,

that means we have access
to all police records.

So I put in a request
and I got the records

and I put them
in these handy binders.

I've been really,
really wanting to understand

everything Hannibal
Police Department

accumulated
over the last 10 years

and compare it to everything

that we've accumulated
in the last 10 years

and see, you know,
did somebody miss something?

I'm speaking
to some of my sources

who are also going over
the, uh, records

as I am in real time

and we're communicating
back and forth.

I was shocked to discover
that after we met him,

Anthony McPike
actually came through

and spoke to Hannibal Police.

I made notes on things

that like stuck out to me,

but I've never read

a police report before.

So I'm dying to pick your brain

- about what you think.

When I was reading
the first part,

I mean, it really seems like

there was a bunch of officers,

like, canvassing a lot,

talking to a lot of people.

But the problem is,
they didn't follow through.

If you look through there,

there's such a lack
of any witness statements

or statements made
by the neighbors,

the doors they knocked on.

There's a big empty spot

that should have been filled
by the detectives

to coordinate the investigation

along with any volunteers

or with their police officers.

So let's go
through some of these.

Page 17, Danny Baker

claims that Brian Whittaker

was harassing him
over the weekend.

That's interesting,
because Brian had heard

something shady is going on
with Danny Baker.

Danny Baker felt afraid of Brian

that he was coming for him.

On 12/22/09, so a month
after Christina's missing...

- Right.
- ...Brian Whittaker

had a parole warrant
for several weeks

and had not been seen
in Hannibal.

Was it over a warrant?

Was it a serious warrant?

Was it a felony warrant?

Or a misdemeanor?
Was it for the assault?

She's also like,
"Your sister's missing."

Like now is the time
to go like...

- No.
- ...into hiding.

But they didn't interview him

and say, "What time
were you there?"

What time was this?"
They didn't interviewing him.

They didn't do that.
He gave a statement.

So there's no report
to go with it.

There's a huge difference
between someone

giving you a statement
just saying,

"No, I don't know
anything about it,"

and stuff like that,

and a cop interviewing you.

It's... I mean, you know
it's just another reason

why I wanna talk to him
and he won't speak to us.

Yeah.

On page 90

is the 2015 lead

that they got
about Glenn Ledbetter.

- Now, girls

were speaking

about Ledbetter
killing Christina.

Ledbetter's girlfriend
at the time

was the one who was talking
about it

as if she had
a first-hand experience.

You know a girl that was there

when Christina Whittaker
was murdered?

Yes. Yes.

What's her name?

So there was never
an identification

of who Ledbetter's
girlfriend was.

She could have knowledge
of what happened to Christina.

She might have witnessed it.

They didn't even name her.

They don't name her.

The... And these girls...

And that means
they didn't locate her

and they didn't question her

about the information
that she had.

This is how bad this report is,

at least to this point.

Grote says
in the report that the FBI

did a dig at the Ledbetter site

six months after we were there.

But we got the report
from the FBI

that said they came
and did more radar

and took some photos
and left the area.

There was no dig.

There was no dig. I mean,

we have to assume that
the FBI cleared the area,

but I'll never know if the items

that we uncovered
were examined or not,

because it's not in the report.

That's the worst part
about this,

is the lack of follow up
and follow through.

And I put that on the detectives

because I would have taken
that on for myself too.

The biggest thing
in this report was that

handwritten note from Cindy.

Officer Willis told me
that Christina talks

to all the officers
pretty much daily.

Why would she do that?

I know she just had her
driving on revoked ticket.

She said she'll have
to buy drugs and set

some people up so she can
walk on the ticket.

If she did set someone up,
you all well know who,

maybe you can check them out.

So, it means
that the police used her

to work off her charges

to go in and buy possibly drugs,

or find out information
to give back to the police

so then they can make
arrests and they can make

search warrants,
et cetera, et cetera.

So this means that
she was potentially working

- as some sort of informant for HPD.
- HPD.

And if drug dealers found out

she was snitching on people,

she could have been killed.

Uh-uh.

Breanna Carver
has never answered

my calls for an interview.

But I know from police records

that she reported to HPD

that Christina told her

she had over 100
prescription pills on her

just hours before
she went missing.

I resent sometimes
Cindy hiding things from me.

I have to question
everything she says.

So she becomes just another
unreliable source

in this giant pool
of unreliable sources.

So, how am I supposed to help?

So, yeah, I resent that.

But Christina is missing.

And that was the promise
that I made,

to help find Christina.

It wasn't to help find Christina

as long as you're a good person.

if your family doesn't
do drugs or get arrested

and beat each other up.

of those things.

It was because
she was missing. That's it.

This call is from
a correctional facility

and may be monitored
and recorded.

Over the past eight
months, I've been studying

HPD's records
and discovered a new lead.

A man contacted Hannibal
Police and told them

that he knew exactly
what happened to Christina

and why it happened to her.

The inmate source
claims that Christina

was a confidential informant
for Hannibal Police

at the time
of her disappearance.

He's currently in jail
and asked to remain anonymous

because he's afraid
of how dangerous

he feels the situation is,

since he claims to be
getting this information

from another inmate
and a prison guard.

You gotta be kidding me.
It's not even in the report.

This is insane.

There are no
statements in the report

or indication that they
followed up on it

beyond just a phone call
trying to connect with him.

The inmate source
knew details about HPD

that only an insider would know.

the clearance

to get that opened up to us.
