I really feel like
there's a female spirit

connected to this one.

There's been a rash of hauntings
spreading across

all of St. Mary Parish.

We originally came here
to help Morgan City,

but almost immediately,
we started getting calls

about unusual activity
in the surrounding towns.

We're trying to figure out how
all these hauntings are related.

But they've been
escalating so quickly...

It's kind of hard to find
any real patterns

to help us contain it.

And now we're being called
to the town of Berwick,

and this will be our second case
reporting poltergeist activity.

So we need to figure out
what's going on

and how to solve this
before things get any worse.

seeing three young girls
out past curfew.

And get out and talk with them.

So, they explained to me
some very disturbing things

going on inside their house.

They're refusing
to go back inside.

Say their dads are out shopping,

and things just
started happening.

The dads, Jon and Bubba,
actually just pulled up,

if you guys want to
come talk to them.

a lot of strange calls recently.

Some strange things
have been happening...

we just can't explain.

I mean, I can't exactly
arrest a ghost,

so at the end of the day,
I'm definitely glad

that the paranormal team
was able to come out

and check it out further.

let's just get out of the room."

So, right before
we got to the door,

the door just slammed
in our face.

And then we said
we're not going back in there.

So we stayed outside,

and then the cop pulled up.

- Oh, my gosh.
- That's pretty scary.

Since the poltergeist activity
just happened,

I don't want to leave
this family alone,

so Jereme and Sarah
are gonna stay with them

while I head inside
with my equipment

to see if it picks up
on any anomalies.

We've never touched it.

Only thing we've done is
there was a lot of hooks.

They did have some stuff
in the attic, too.

And they had a lot
of religious stuff

that we just couldn't

The dolls that were
in the attic,

went in the attic and got out.

and she wanted a few out.

And that's the doll

It's not a myth

that spirits
are often attracted to dolls.

That's why
there's so many stories

of evil forces possessing dolls.

Negative spirits
like to trick people.

They like to disguise themselves

as something
that appears harmless.

And there's some creepy dolls.

one of my worst fears,

is that I would be
in a room with dolls

and they'd start moving.

My brother locked me in a room
with ventriloquist dummies

when I was a kid, and I was
screaming bloody murder.

Did not want to be in that room.

So, uh, first thing I would do
is get rid of this stuff.

if it has anything to do

with the reason
this was going...

my mom saw something also.

what the girls

They're also experiencing stuff.

that we find answers

that there might still be

So, regarding the history
of Bubba and Jon's house,

we found that that location
was owned by Ouida Swearingen.

Ouida lived in the house
during the 1940s,

but in addition
to being her home,

it was also a place
of business for her

because Ouida was a dressmaker.

That would explain
the hooks in the ceiling...

True.

Because it was common then,
and maybe even now,

where dressmakers would have
hooks in their ceilings

to hang dresses
that they either have made

or that they're working on,

so that certainly would
tie in to Ouida.

She was a prominent seamstress
here in this area,

and she made clothes for dolls.

This is exactly
what Bubba explained.

He said he saw a woman

in his bedroom,

huge glasses like stop signs,

salt-and-pepper hair.

How did she pass?
Did she pass in the home?

No, she did not pass
in the home.

Ouida lived to be
a ripe old age of 87.

We have reports
of knocking on walls,

doors opening and closing
by themselves,

reports of dolls
moving on their own.

And we have
a prominent woman here

that spent her life
making dresses,

making dolls for children.

That's not gonna be
the kind of person

that's gonna try to scare kids.

I think we need to go back
to this house.

We need to figure out
what's going on there

and what this
secondary energy might be.

Clearly, there's something else

affecting this home.

To me, it feels like it
likes scaring these children.

It feels very dangerous,
almost evil.

What did she look like?

She had a strange look

bangs cut straight across,

which kind of looked like '60s.

She looked at me
like she knew me.

of a little girl

in the background

She was standing
right on the side of Riley.

We're trying to
figure out what's causing this

very aggressive
poltergeist activity

that scared all three
of Dorothy's granddaughters

out of the house last night.

She looked straight at me.

The little girl
kind of looked familiar.

She kind of resembled
the little Verrett girl

from an incident that happened
in the neighborhood

back in the '60s.

We were friends with
the neighborhood children,

and that's who
she kind of reminded me of.

Yes, the last name
of Lucy Verrett.

Lucy Verrett?

This family, the Verrett family,

the mother and three children

were murdered.

It was a really horrible ordeal.

I think she was about 13.

not only was
this girl from the '60s

but that she knows her.

And it's possible that this
little girl named Lucy Verrett,

who was murdered
with her siblings,

has now come back to visit
the children of Bubba and Jon,

and there's some reason why.

Next to her are her children

that were brutally killed

by the nephew of her husband,
Roy Mejia.

- Notice the description?

That's what
Dorothy told me she saw.

She believed that
she had seen Lucy Verrett

and kind of looked like
out of the '60s.

And the little girl
looked at her.

She felt like
she made eye contact

with her through the video chat.

Wow. It was one of
the most tragic,

hideous cases that ever happened
in St. Mary Parish.

Lucy's playing with her dolls
in her bedroom,

when suddenly,
she hears gunshots...

one after another,
and screaming...

people screaming
for their lives,

and that's her family.

And she's frightened.

And she does what any child
or anyone would do.

She hides.

The murderer then
comes into her room...

and he finds Lucy.

And he shoots her.

But according to
his own testimony,

she just won't die,

and he then takes a claw hammer
and he beats her...

Until she's dead.

Oh, my gosh, no.

But it gets worse.

And then you wonder
how worse can it get?

How?
Yeah.

He takes the bodies
to a swampland area nearby,

and he buries the children
in a triangle.

This is something
that we had never witnessed

here in St. Mary Parish.

The Berwick Bloody Four

is something that they instill
in officers

from day one
working in St. Mary Parish.

To this date,
it is the most gruesome murder

that we've had here.

People began
to lock their doors in fear.

Roy Mejia, a very close
relative of the family,

committed the murders.

Why?

Why would somebody
take the life of a child?

There was never
any documented motive.

He was a psychopath just looking
for victims, and he found them.

He was found in a swamp,
where he was arrested,

and he went to prison.

This is the house
that they were murdered in,

which was right down the street
from Bubba and Jon's house.

In fact, I have a little map
here that shows the distance.

It's not more than
a couple blocks.

The house was torn down,

and the overpass
and freeway was built.

And now underneath
is a playground.

And from being a medium,

I know that when
you have spirits with you,

attracted to the house

I think when she got there,
she saw the dolls

that reminded her
of her own childhood,

and she started to play
with those dolls

and interacting with the girls.

I think that Lucy
may have caught on

to the other activities
happening in the home

and decided to stay
and protect those girls.

What I want to know,
is this really scary,

frightening event that happened
at Jon and Bubba's house

that scared the girls,
who's responsible for that?

Why would she be doing that
to scare them?

in the other cases is,

sometimes it's given as scary,

but it's protection sometimes,

we have something

that's much darker here.

So, could this be the spirit
that's not only causing

the poltergeist activity
in Bubba's home

but also stirring up all

that Roy Mejia

is the one causing
all this poltergeist activity.

He didn't live here.

He wasn't even from this town.

There's just
not enough connection

that would place him here
for a motive.

And keeping in mind
what Jereme's told us,

to be very careful
because all of the activity

of what we are perceiving
as aggressiveness

may not actually
be caused by Lucy.

It could be something
much darker.

quite the experience.

You definitely have
an active home,

to reaffirm for you

many of the same things

in their yard.
