that really got my attention,

and that was a call
that I received

from the chief of police

This is Chief Bo of
the Morgan City police.

Yeah, we got a lot of strange
things goin' on down here.

Morgan City's just
an old Louisiana town,

the largest city
in St. Mary Parish.

Now, the people down here
are no strangers to tragedy.

They've been through wars,
disease, hurricanes, murders.

You name it,
they've been through it.

Morgan City,
state your emergency.

She called about the...

I have to say, though,

with the uptick
in paranormal activity,

our people are pretty spooked.

She said...

When our people are scared,

that's something
to not take lightly.

So Morgan City is going
to do the same thing I did

and work with a paranormal team.

less than 24 hours,

and we're already going
to a call.

who is describing a strange mist

that she has driven through
several times,

always having
strange experiences.

But tonight, her car
actually stopped,

and she claims that she saw
some sort of a figure

forming in the mist
that has really scared her.

So he's there with her now.

We're gonna go talk
to the chief and see if

we can get some more information
from the witness.

You know, I've spoken
to the chief a little bit,

and I understand
you guys are buddies.

Man, you gotta keep in mind,

really doesn't have
the manpower to deal with

all these strange cases
that's comin' down.

Jereme and I have
worked together in the past,

and this is the first time
he's called me for help

investigating not just one case,

but possibly
an entire haunted city.

People down here are
genuinely scared.

We have to try and figure out
what's triggering

this spike
in paranormal activity

so that we can help
these spirits find peace

and help Morgan City return
to some state of normalcy.

the paranormal field

down here in the South,
I think, is unlike

Aimee was drivin'

She comes across a fog bank,
which nothin' uncommon here.

Even the tow truck driver

He's been checkin' it out.

He can't see a reason

All the cases in the past
that I've actually worked on,

I mean,
spirits will use batteries.

They will drain batteries
to try to manifest,

which, to me, is a telltale sign

that it could possibly
be paranormal.

So it kind of spooks her out.

She gets out, checks underneath
the hood of the car.

While she's checkin'
underneath the hood of the car,

she feels something or someone
come up behind her.

She turns around and looks.

Sure enough,
there's a female behind her.

But she said what
really took her

was the female had no mouth.

Nothing whatsoever.

So I figured we'd call
the paranormal guys

to come in and see if
we could check this out

and see if y'all
could find anything.

Wow, she looks really shook up.

She really is.

So I walked the entire roadway.

I couldn't find anything.

It's so dark right now,
but I see swamp on both sides

of the highway, right?

Okay, so it wouldn't be unusual,
perhaps, to see a mist forming,

maybe late at night
or early in the morning?

No, not odd at all to have that.

that is quite odd.

arrests, bring people to jail.

But as far as whatever
Aimee saw?

and I drove into this mist
that was thick,

This apparition she saw
could be of a woman

who died in a car accident
on the same road.

might help us kind of identify
when she died and who she was.

all the records

and resources

you able to find out

with the information
we gave you on Aimee?

I dug into some research,

and because of the description

of what the apparition
was wearing,

it was, I think, I'm assuming
somewhere in the '20s.

Maybe early '30s.

There were three
women that were killed

that could possibly fit
that description.

One was a Miss P.L. Roche,

killed April 2nd, 1924,

in a car accident.

Another lady,
Mrs. Olivia Ellis,

killed also in a car accident
May 12, 1929.

And then the third one,
she wasn't killed

like the other two, which were
in automobile accidents.

She was executed by a hanging,

the first lady ever
in the state of Louisiana.

And her name was Ada LeBoeuf.

LeBoeuf?
- LeBoeuf, yeah.

That is the same
last name as Aimee.

Yeah.

So maybe Aimee is kin to her
somewhere along the line.

LeBoeuf might be
her maiden name, though, too.

It could be connected
to her husband.

Now, LeBoeuf is not
an uncommon name down here.

But if these two are related,

then we are one step closer
to figuring out

who this apparition is.

So why was Ada LeBoeuf hanged?

A scandalous love triangle
in 1927

led to one of the most
spine-chilling murders

that I have ever read about
in my research.

It is alleged that
Ada LeBoeuf was behind

the plan for the murder of
her husband, James LeBoeuf.

Ada lured her husband
out to a moonlight boat ride.

She had arranged
that Dr. Dreher, a lover,

would come out
to the lake as well.

With him was his right-hand man,
James Beadle.

James LeBoeuf was shot
twice in the chest.

And then he was surgically
cut open in his abdomen.

Railroad iron rails were put in,

his hands and feet were bound,

and he was thrown in the lake.

She contended throughout
the whole time

that she did not kill
her husband.

The story of Ada LeBoeuf
remains a legend of some sort.

Some people believe
that Ada LeBoeuf

was the mastermind behind
her husband's murder.

she killed her husband.

known as someone

who's kind of like a fool,

with the actual pulling

in masterminding the plan.

is that James LeBoeuf's body
was found in the lake.

where they found the body,

everything's startin'
to make sense to me.

So as the story is told now,

the jury found James Beadle
guilty with a life sentence.

Interesting.

They found Ada and Dr. Dreher
guilty of murder

and sentenced to death.

she's trying to communicate

to Aimee about a car accident.

This feels like it's
much more personal.

are related or not,

I think she's trying
to communicate to Aimee

something about her family.

There is a contact.

Ada LeBoeuf's
great-granddaughter is alive,

lives in Morgan City.

Her name is Lynette Davis.

The letter suggests
that she thought

this meeting at Lake Palourde
was going to be

some type of
friendly reconciliation.

So maybe this is the story

she's been trying
to tell Aimee all along.

But there's really only
one way to find out.

We have to make direct contact
with the spirit of Ada LeBoeuf.

She is using this mist

pretty scandalous, I guess.

your maiden name, right?

So we took this information
to our historian.

Uh-huh.

And she found
that you're blood family

on Ada's husband's side.

Really?

- So...
- Ohh. Okay.

I know it was hard for you,

because when you first had
the sighting,

you felt like, "Wow, this feels
like a warning," right?

- Yeah, yeah.
- But you know what?

I don't believe that
Ada meant to scare you.

In fact, we feel that
it's kind of the opposite.

Okay.

We believe she was
trying to say,

"I was falsely accused
of masterminding this murder."

Maybe because you're family,

she wanted you to know
the truth.

Wow.

It makes me feel really relieved

to know that her side
of the story was different.

I went from being
scared out of my mind

to pretty much
rewriting history.

to release Ada
to the other side,

our own experiences.

The issue is, though,
now I'm getting calls

from throughout the parish.

This might be a bigger thing
than just Morgan City.

Really? So it's not just
here in town, huh?

We're getting complaints

from all the law enforcement
agencies in the parish

that they're experiencing
strange complaints.

St. Mary Parish is
five municipal cities

in an unincorporated area,

and when I listen to the mayors
from the other municipalities,

they're starting to talk about

all the calls that they've
been gettin'.

Berwick, Patterson,
Franklin, and Baldwin.

So it's pretty clear and evident
that we've got ghost stories

from one end of the parish
to the other.

We're in it for the long haul,
so we're not gonna go anywhere

until we find some answers
for you guys.

That's good news.

I thought we were here
for one specific area,

and something is affecting
the whole region.

what's causing this spike

in paranormal activity
in Morgan City.

Very disturbing things going on.

They're refusing
to go back inside.

I heard a scraping noise.

all of these cases that we have?

Violent deaths.

The Battle of Irish Bend.

The meter's spiking.

They're just coming.
They're all over.

The father and daughter
that got hit by a train.

I heard some really loud steps
in the attic.
