realtor is backed into a corner,

She says, "I wish I could
get rid of him for good."

I turned to her and was like, "what
do you mean?" She’s like, "for good."

[Narrator] But
someone is listening.

Can police stop a deadly plot...

before it’s too late.

This woman has no bottom.

And detective sergeant
powers. He worked a prior case.

[Narrator] Undercover work is some
of the riskiest in law enforcement.

[Officer] Okay, she’s out of the
car. Okay, good deal. Good deal.

[Narrator] One wrong move...

[Sirens wailing]

can cost a life.

[Officer] Hey! Police!
Don’t move! Get down!

[Narrator] In rare situations,

even taking down

Sarasota is a privileged area.

There’s a lot of wealthy people.

It’s high society,
luxury and wealth.

[Rob Armstrong] It’s
a really beautiful town.

The beaches bring people.
The water is beautiful.

Some people say it’s paradise.

[Drew Winchester] But
there are many facets of life.

Florida definitely
has a dichotomy.

[John Chamberlain] I mean,
most people can’t afford a house

on the Gulf or out on the water.

Here in north port, it
was a little bit inland

and a little bit
more affordable.

[Narrator] Zak Jones
grew up in north port.

His parents, Max and janeene,
moved to the area in the early 2000s.

Growing up, it was really small

and there wasn’t a
whole lot of people.

And once you get used to
the heat, it’s not that bad.

My parents got married in ’99

and pretty much nine
months later, here I am.

So i’m gonna assume that they
had a pretty good honeymoon.

Um, my mom was in
between sweet and tough.

My mom was kind of a homebody.

She was always on the
computer, making phone calls.

[Narrator] For janeene,
money is often a struggle.

After losing her job
as a corrections officer,

she meets Amy Wright, who
owns a house cleaning company.

And we hit it off and
she did a good job

with what she
did, so I hired her.

[Zak] The best way
to describe my dad

is very hard working, very loyal

and always tries to stay
busy and very loving dad.

Tall, skinny, very strong
with a little thin goatee on him.

When my dad would get home, me
and him would go outside in the street

and we would throw a
football back and forth.

[Chamberlain] I first met Max and
janeene at a church in englewood, Florida.

That was back
in 2003, I believe.

Max was a tradesman.
He was a carpenter.

And i’m in the trades myself,
so we had that in common.

Max was just a
different kind of person.

He was a very laid back,
easy going, a cool guy.

He was the kind of guy you
wanted to shoot the breeze with.

So we hit it off pretty good.

I would keep an eye on their
house while they were out of town,

and sometimes when I
would have to go out of town,

I would leave my
daughter in their care.

[Narrator] On November 27, 2011,

Max suffers a fatal heart
attack at 51 years old.

[Zak Jones] I’d come
home and found that

there was two police
officers sitting in the road,

and they walked up to me and
said that my dad had passed.

And I asked my mom,
"what happened?"

And all she told me was,
"he had a heart attack."

And that was it.

I could not believe it
because there was no indicator

that he was having
any health issues.

He wasn’t overweight, he wasn’t
a smoker. He was a young guy.

As a matter of fact,
my whole attitude was,

"oh, my god. I can’t
believe this happened.

I really need to step up and
help out the family if I can."

[Hourihan] Janeene
Jones was tough minded.

She was a survivor.

She gets a million dollars
in life insurance proceeds

and fully invested
in real estate.

In 2008, when the real
estate market crashed,

there was a high inventory of
houses on the market that were empty

and especially in north port.

There was a glut of empty homes.

To her credit, she
recognizes the opportunity

that is surrounding her in real
estate because of the market crash.

Friends and family of
Max Jones did notice

that janeene moved
on very quickly.

She wanted to meet a boyfriend,

so I introduced her to a couple
of my friends. They did not click.

So after that, she would just come
over and have a couple drinks with me.

[Chamberlain] The first thing
I noticed was jan decided that

she needed to get boob surgery,

which I thought the
timing was kind of different,

but I said, "oh, whatever."

I said, "everybody grieves
differently. What do I know?"

[Hourihan] She made a lot
of changes to her appearance

and was quickly dating.

She dated a few different
people when she met Matt.

Matt Smith was the cable guy
that came to install janeene’s cable

shortly after Max died.

Her response upon seeing him was,
"how would you like to be my boy toy?"

And his response
was, "i’d love to."

Jan called me out of the blue at
like, it was late hours of the night

and asked me if I
would be interested

in a threesome with her
and her new boyfriend.

And I was like, "no,
that is not up my alley."

And then she proceeded to ask me

if me and her could have a
sexual relationship and Matt watch.

And I was like, "yeah, that’s
not something i’m into either."

He was very much her boy toy
and he liked having a sugar momma.

[Amy Wright] She
would prance him around

like he was a new pony
is what she would do.

She spoiled him. I’ve never seen
a man be spoiled like that before.

Next thing I know, this guy
has moved in with my mom.

My mom’s pretty much just
giving all the money that she got

from my dad’s life
insurance policy to this guy.

[Wright] They moved into a
nice newer home in north port

she would buy
all kinds of jewelry.

They lived very lavish
when they got together.

You could tell like, they
came into something very big.

It just all happened
really quick and boom,

before I know it, they
owned four or five houses.

I was thinking, "wow,
this lady, she’s got

a good business
going for herself."

[Chamberlain] It hadn’t been long
at all since Max had passed away

before they
actually got married.

Everybody looked at it
like, "what’s up with this?"

[Armstrong] Now
janeene is newly remarried.

She is somebody who
is spending money.

Matt Smith was also involved in the
rental business: The my retirement llc.

I believe they had approximately
25 homes at some point in time

in the city limits
of north port.

[Narrator] Questions
begin to swirl.

Just how was janeene able to
grow this business so quickly?

[Zak] Buying all this crap
that she didn’t really need

and just basically
living la vida loca.

[Narrator] Janeene’s
spending spree

and quick remarriage
makes them wonder...

Was Max jones’s death really
a simple sudden heart attack?

[Narrator] At the
time of his death,

Max Jones seemed
healthy and happy,

leaving little warning
for what was to come.

I was actually traveling from
New York back down to Florida

and I got a call that Max had passed
away, that he’d had a heart attack.

By the time I had gotten
back down to Florida,

the coroner had set him to have a
cremation done the following day.

And it was just that fast.

After max’s death, in the
community, people were suspicious.

They were surprised
at janeene’s behavior.

But nobody was ready to
convict her in their minds.

It was just enough
to be suspicious.

[Zak] All she told me was
that he had a heart attack,

but never really
told me any details

and I knew my dad didn’t
have any heart issues.

I knew he had stomach issues,

but the heart attack kind
of threw me off guard.

And I kept asking
her why this happened

and she couldn’t
give me any answers.

[Wright] Max’s family was really
concerned about having an autopsy done.

They wanted to know
what happened to him.

Once she said no, she’s
going to get a cremation,

she cut off all ties
with max’s family.

So that put in some
leery vibes in the air

and rumors started
to spread quickly.

There was even people posting on her
social media about her killing her husband.

She would then quick delete it.

[Narrator] Janeene and max’s
marriage was far from perfect.

It wasn’t the first time janeene
had set tongues wagging.

[Winchester] Janeene was an employee of
the Charlotte county sheriff’s department.

She worked at their county jail

and she had very
inappropriate relationships

with some of the inmates.

[Wright] She actually had a
relationship with one of the inmates

that broke off and then, she started
messing with what she called his bunkie.

She’d let him out of
his cell late at night.

And when one of the officers walked
in, they realized what was going on.

They reported it up to a higher
person, so she got fired for that.

[Narrator] Max tried to look
beyond janeene’s jailhouse trysts.

I know he didn’t like it. I know
he didn’t care for it one bit,

but he had worked through it

and that he forgave jan for it.

[Hourihan] She was
attracted to money and wealth.

And she wanted
to have nice things.

Max did not offer that to her.

Then slowly over time,

north port pd gets
whispers about janeene.

[Chamberlain] Jan had
started opening my retirement llc

and started acquiring
some new homes.

The goal was to acquire
these foreclosed home,

bring them up into acceptable
living conditions and rent them out.

So when she approached me
about doing some of this work,

she goes, "maybe you’ll be
interested in renting one of these homes

and we can trade
work in lieu of rent."

So we did and she actually
drew up a contract for me.

At this point, this is
when things get weird.

[Hourihan] There was a tenant in one of
these homes that janeene was renting out.

That tenant was at her home that
she believed she was lawfully renting

- and somebody showed up at her door...
- [Doorbell chimes]

claiming to own
the house. [Laughs]

Which is quite an
awkward situation.

She said, "I rent this
house from jan Jones."

And they said, "we don’t
even know who that person is."

I do believe the
woman called the police.

[Hourihan] It’s actually
a brilliant scheme

if you [laughs] have
a criminal mindset.

[Narrator] Janeene’s
scam is simple.

She would file fake
paperwork with the county,

saying that the original
owners gave her the houses

if she would pay the
back taxes on them.

Then, she would
rent the houses out.

For all intents and purposes,
on paper it looked like

she really owned this property.

I went to jan and I said, "you
want to tell me what’s going on?"

And she quickly tried
to evade the questions

and gave me some bogus story.

[Narrator] John
is on to her fraud.

He’s now a threat to
everything she had built.

I knew that there
was something wrong

and she knew that I knew [chuckles]
that there was something wrong.

But at the same time,
she just kept smiling at me

and I kept smiling at her.

And it was like, we know each
other much better than this.

Like I said, she was
not real happy with me.

It actually escalated
to the point

where she had Matt come over
and serve me with a summons

that said that I had three
days to get out of the property,

that they were evicting me.

Not only did she file legal
paperwork to have me evicted,

but she actually
retained an attorney

to represent her on this matter.

I was a bit concerned about what
was going on at this point myself.

So I went down to the
north port police department

and inquired about this.

She told me that
she got some money

and that she was going to be
buying a bunch of foreclosures.

And that she would need
me to do plumbing renovations

on all the houses that
she was going to be buying.

And her offer was
if I took care of

all the plumbing
work that they needed

and did the regular
maintenance on all the Wells

that I could live
there rent free.

[Officer] And how long
have you been in there?

[Chamberlain] I’ve
been in there since June.

[Officer] So, from
my understanding...

[Chamberlain] June of last year.

- [Officer] Oh, June of last year.
- [Chamberlain] Yes.

Things started good
and then, recently

she told me she didn’t need my
help and she needed me to get out.

And 15 minutes of her
leaving and telling me that,

her husband Matt was over there

taping a three day
eviction notice on my door.

- Really? Okay.
- Really.

It was that... It was that fast.

[Hourihan] In his response to the
court, John Chamberlain indicated

that he did not believe that she
legally owned these properties.

And he asked the court to make
that determination before evicting him.

That escalated
the matter greatly.

The eviction hearing was
supposed to take place February 27th.

Once I became aware of what she was
actually doing with this rental scheme,

I came down here and... And
uh, spoke with detective Stewart

and I told him
everything that I knew.

[Narrator] With a fast
approaching hearing that threatens

to expose janeene’s scam,

the pressure on her
is growing day by day.

I was completely shocked.

I would have never expected
anything like this out of jan.

[Narrator] That’s when police
receive another tip about janeene.

[Phone ringing]

[Armstrong] I received a phone
call from a confidential informant.

They said somebody wants
to have somebody murdered.

[Phone ringing]

[Narrator] Rob Armstrong is
working as a narcotics detective

when he gets a tip
from out of the blue.

[Armstrong] The case witness said
that she is friends with a lady named jan.

She said jan had said that she
wanted to have somebody murdered

that knew a lot about her,
knew too much about her life.

[Narrator] And that man that jan
wants to kill is John Chamberlain.

[Hourihan] Janeene Jones
was looking to hire a hit man

to kill John Chamberlain

so that he could not
be a witness against her.

[Armstrong] We knew that she
carried a gun in her purse openly.

We did learn that she
could lawfully possess a gun.

I called north port. Said,
"hey, i’d love to know

if you’re familiar with
a Ms. Janeene Jones."

And they said, "oh, as
a matter of fact, we are.

We’re familiar with her
late husband, Max Jones.

We’re familiar with the
circumstances around his death.

And she is s suspect in active
investigations for real estate fraud."

So they were very
familiar with her.

[Winchester] There were concurrent
investigations that were taking place.

On the north
port side of things,

they were investigating
the fraud circumstances,

while on the sarasota
pd side of things,

they were investigating this plot to
potentially have some folks killed.

[Narrator] And the informant
is none other than Amy Wright.

[Wright] I think in all honesty,
she thought that I would be willing

to help her find somebody
to murder somebody.

[Phone ringing]

That’s when I contacted the
sarasota police department.

Hello?

I met with Amy within an
hour of the first phone call.

[Narrator] Police are ready to
put janeene under surveillance.

With the police involved, the first
thing they did was set up a wiretap,

which is a little digital
thing you put in your ear

and it records on the other side

as your conversating
on the telephone.

[Narrator] Days later, janeene
and Amy are having lunch

at a local sweet
tomatoes restaurant.

The police are
listening to every word.

[Armstrong] Amy
had a criminal history.

She had been in
a little bit of trouble

with some prior boyfriends and
things like that and some drug stuff.

So that gave her
some street credibility.

[Narrator] It’s a conversation
that started a few days before.

[Wright] We were on her back
patio where she lived in north port.

And the conversation
came about John

and when she said it, I honestly
really thought she was playing.

She said, "I wish I could
just find somebody to kill him

and get rid of him
and hide the body."

She says, "I wish I could
get rid of him for good."

I turned to her and was
like, "what do you mean?"

She was like, "for good."

[Phone ringing]

Then she called me the
next day on the phone.

She’s like, "hey, do you
think you could find somebody

that could help me
with a John issue?"

Like, I didn’t really
know how to respond to it.

She was a little bit more pushy
with the second phone call.

"Hey, did you check
on that favor for me?"

And I was like, "um,
yeah. I spoke to a guy."

I was like, "I will get
back to you on that."

[Narrator] But today
at sweet tomatoes,

there’s little doubt that
janeene wants her friend Amy

to find a hitman to take
down John Chamberlain.

There are multiple
undercover detectives

in the restaurant watching her.

And a monitoring team
outside of sweet tomatoes.

- [Indistinct radio chatter]
- [Man] 10-12.

Obviously we had this meeting
recorded with both audio and video.

I was afraid of her.
She was a smart woman

and she was crazy.

So, those two
combined, scared me.

She wanted to know
what the price would be

and what she was willing to pay,

what she wanted done
and how she wanted it done.

Bye bye.

That’s when things
turned a little bit dirtier.

[Narrator] Amy tells her she
knows the right man for the job.

I had a friend. His
name was Chris.

I went to high school with him.

He was from fort Myers and
that he would be interested.

[Narrator] On the days
following their meeting,

janeene and Amy speak
often about their plans

as police listen in.

They talked about
obtaining burner phones.

If, you know, you are
involved in a criminal activity,

and you don’t want to be
traced, you’re going to do

things that law-abiding
people would not do.

[Narrator] Once janeene
finally secures her burner phone,

she makes direct contact
with amy’s friend Chris.

It was almost as if
hiring a hitman was just

one of these errands
that she had to check off

to get done before
she went on a cruise.

That tells you everything
you know about her.

[Armstrong] Janeene Jones
has potentially been involved

in the murder of her
previous husband, Max.

Now she wants to have
other people killed for money.

We knew that she was
a dangerous individual

and we were running
up against a time clock

because there was a court
hearing on February 27th.

She was going on this cruise.
She wanted it done then.

So the hitman shows up.

Chris got to town. I called her maybe
an hour before meeting with Chris.

And she was to meet
us up at the publix.

I think I got, like, an
hour’s worth of sleep.

It was just so much
anxiety involved in that.

I didn’t want to
mess nothing up.

[Armstrong] He is at the
publix parking lot in north port.

And janeene Jones arrives.

[Narrator] Detectives are
recording from a nearby car

as janeene and
Amy meet with Chris.

[Radio beeps]

[Armstrong] She’s gonna come around
and get in that front passenger seat.

We used video surveillance.

Everything being said
in the car I can hear.

I got into the back and she
got in to the passenger seat.

I introduced... I said, "jan,
this is Chris. Chris, this is jan."

Some stuff in life
you’re not ready for

and that was one
thing I was not ready for.

[Armstrong] Looks
like target is going to

come around and get in
the front passenger seat.

They begin some negotiations
and we were listening to everything.

Then she just proceeded on
handing off the picture that she had.

[Armstrong] Janeene was
very descriptive about John.

She described him as a big,

muscular guy who
went to the gym a lot.

Clearly, we were wanting her to say
as much as she could possibly say.

[Narrator] During the 30 minute
ride, they scout out john’s house.

[Chris] Okay. Okay.

It was shocking, frankly.

[Hourihan] At any point in time,

janeene could have backed
out. She could have hesitated,

she could have had
second thoughts.

But she didn’t show
an ounce of hesitation.

She knew what she wanted.

She was just getting
deeper and deeper.

[Winchester] Janeene
obviously had ideas about

how she wanted
these things committed.

And then, of course, if Mr. Chamberlain’s
daughter somehow got in the way,

she had no issue with her
being eliminated as well.

[Narrator] It’s shocking.

Not only is janeene trying
to kill John Chamberlain,

she’s willing to kill his daughter
too if she gets in the way.

The same daughter she
used to babysit for John.

Clearly, janeene, she didn’t
care about john’s daughter

and she was 11 years old.

10-12.

[Hourihan] Hearing
that, it really sank in

that this woman has no bottom.

Janeene is talking
about making payment

for the murder of
John Chamberlain.

During that, she’s
discussing trying to get money.

But she was hiding
money from Matt.

[Narrator] And that’s not all she’s
hiding from her current husband, Matt.

She has plans for him, too.

That is how we learned that
not only were we dealing with

someone that wanted to murder
one individual that was in her way,

but now she wanted
to kill another individual.

She called it a "two-for-one."

[Wright] She thought
anything that she wanted

that she could buy,
she could get it done.

Even if it was murder.
She didn’t care.

We weren’t really quite
ready for that curveball.

We really thought the case was
surrounded around Mr. Chamberlain.

And then now, obviously we
have another intended victim.

[Chris] Okay.

My first thought was,
"wow. That’s very crazy."

When does she stop wanting to
have people murdered and harmed?

It wasn’t totally a shock
because we knew that she had

likely killed her former
husband, Max Jones.

[Hourihan] Not only does
she want to kill another person,

but she wants to
do it at a discount.

[Narrator] Janeene
Jones has been negotiating

the cost of two murders
and coming up a little short.

She leaves the hitman’s
car to go to the bank.

And police are
watching her every move.

She was only able to bring
a certain amount of cash.

- [Radio beeps] - [Armstrong]
Okay, she’s out of the car.

Standby, standby.
With her purse.

Okay, good deal, good
deal, good deal, good deal.

[Hourihan] After the
payment is exchanged,

the take-down team
swoops in, brings her down.

[Armstrong] She was
placed in handcuffs

by the north port
police department.

[Narrator] Thanks to Amy wright’s
brave decision to come forward,

the murder plot is
stopped in its tracks.

Yeah. I saved some
lives there. [Chuckles]

If it was not for Armstrong,

I don’t think I
could have did it.

I’m, like, shook. Like, I
can’t believe she honestly

thinks that I want
involved in that, first off.

Like, I don’t want no
involvement in that.

And second off, I can’t
believe that somebody can be

so cold-hearted because
you want somebody

out your house that you would
murder them to get them out.

[Armstrong] I think what
was on her conscious was

she heard information that jan
had been involved in max’s death.

So, she felt some
obligation to come forward.

[Wright] The first phone call,
Robert just shook his head,

he was like, "she’s not playing.

She wants to go
through with this."

The sweet tomatoes
was the next step.

I even asked her. I said, "are you
sure this is what you want to do?"

And she said, "yes."

That made me feel like I
was doing the right thing.

Because amongst
our conversation,

she said, "John had a daughter."

And she said, "if she gets
in the way, kill her too."

So that’s when I knew,
yeah. This is something that

was supposed to be meant for me.

’cause I have children,
that was just like,

"whoa. I can’t believe you
would even say that about a child."

Like, very cold. Didn’t care.

[Armstrong] Okay,
she’s out of the car.

Standby, standby.
With her purse.

Okay, good deal, good
deal, good deal, good deal.

[Wright] After it was over, I was
like, "holy [bleep]. I just did that?"

My nerves was a
wreck through it all.

And I could never
see myself as a person

that would have
to go through that.

I think that was the
hardest part for me.

I don’t think she put it together
until she was under arrest

and she didn’t see
that I was under arrest.

’cause when she
looked over her shoulder,

she just did a quick look back
at me and we kind of meet eyes,

I think that was her eye
awakening that she got set up.

The hitman was
not actually a hitman.

The hitman was an
undercover detective

with the sarasota
police department.

No, my name is not Chris.

My name is Dominic
Harris and i’m a detective.

[Hourihan] Dominic Harris ended up
being a phenomenal undercover agent.

He planned the role of
hitman just beautifully.

[Armstrong] If i’m
evaluating his performance,

i’ll give him a 10.
He did a great job.

He knew how to bait janeene

and provide what he needed
to further his investigation.

I had been with the sarasota police
department for very short of two years.

[Armstrong] I said,
"do you want to work

one of the coolest cases that you’ll
ever work in your whole career?"

And he said, "yes."

[Harris] Fears start
coming to you because

I need to make this person
believe that i’m a hitman.

I did not receive any formal
how-to-be-a-hitman training.

Honestly, I got my
training from YouTube.

I went home and I
googled "hitman."

And one of the most notorious
hitmen I studied, was the hitman iceman.

I decided to be
the black iceman.

[Armstrong] I gave him this
huge checklist of all these things

I wanted to have him
have her say on her own.

I was so nervous. I just knew I needed to
make this work so this lady could go to jail.

[Armstrong] We knew that
she could lawfully carry a gun.

Even though, here she
is trying to hire a hitman,

but she’s carrying that gun.

Obviously, i’m concerned.

We want the case to be great.

But if it goes sideways
on the safety factor,

then it’s really
all for nothing.

She’s going to come around and
get in that front passenger seat.

[Harris] And that’s
when I cut the switch on

and started turning
into the hitman.

And at that time, I just
started being mean.

[Harris] This is for real
and it’s counting on me

to do the things right
to save the target’s life.

[Armstrong] If she knew
that he was the cops,

she probably would
have got out of the car and

the case would have been over.

[Harris] Once she
hands me money,

I immediately give
the code of "deal."

Deal. Deal.

I just kept screaming
it out loud, just in case

the detectives didn’t here.

And she got taken into custody.

Deal. Deal. Deal. Deal.

I think I blanked
out. Passed out.

Because man, it... honestly,
it took me like several weeks

to get back to my normal
self because I was so terrified

and so happy that we
had completed this case.

[Reporter] A north port
woman is behind bars tonight,

accused of plotting
to hire a hitman.

Police say she tried to get two
people killed including her husband.

She was extremely detailed in what she
wanted done and how she wanted it done.

Including the fact that
the 11-year-old daughter

could be home or not.
It doesn’t matter to her.

The day my mom got arrested, I
was at my girlfriend’s mom’s house

and Matt Smith calls me and says,
"you need to come to the house."

So I leave. I go over there.

And there’s a bunch of
cops sitting around the house.

And I asked them
what’s going on.

And that’s when Matt Smith told
me that my mom was arrested.

I was really confused.

And also discussed that
the body should be removed

due to, uh, less mess
and less evidence.

I couldn’t believe it. My
phone was just blowing up

like hundreds of
times by all these calls.

And it was from the
detectives so I called them.

And they said, "we need you to
come directly to your house, right now."

They said, "we also
have your daughter."

And, i’m saying
to myself, I said,

"why do you have my daughter?
My daughter should be in school."

I literally did 90 miles an
hour and when I arrived home

there was probably at
least a dozen detective cars

in front of my house.

Immediately, I was like,
"is my daughter okay?"

He said, "your daughter’s fine."

He said, "we, we have her."

And so I calmed down once
I knew my daughter was fine.

[Reporter] She told the deputy that she wanted
to collect on her husband’s life insurance.

She also asked him to kill a
man who rents property from her.

[Chamberlain] I meet the
lead detective there and

he goes, "the good news is..."

He goes, "she’s in
custody right now.

The bad news is she just tried to
have you and your daughter killed."

[Reporter] Police are
also looking into suspicions

that she allegedly murdered
her husband two years earlier.

[Hourihan] After max’s
death there was no autopsy.

So there was no indication that
his death was a result of homicide.

You can’t determine
homicide based on cremains.

[Armstrong] I talked to the
north port police department

and I know that if they could
establish probable cause

for an arrest on her for
that death of Max Jones,

they would definitely do that.

Explained in detail the subject
she wanted to have murdered.

Including a name,
address, and a photo.

[Zak] When I saw my
mom on those videos,

I thought my mom
actually did kill my dad.

And she apparently was
very capable of doing it.

I don’t really talk about my
past with my mom and my dad.

I pretty much just kind of
shut it off and push it away.

When Matt was informed that, in
fact, he was the intended victim,

he was very shocked.

And I think he was concerned
about his own well-being

because he also was involved in
the real estate stuff with janeene.

[Hourihan] Not only did she have a
$1 million policy on Matt smith’s life,

it had become effect days
before the sweet tomatoes meet.

It wasn’t until about six months
after janeene was arrested

that Matt and janeene were charged
in the real estate fraud scheme.

Matt Smith was charged
with multiple counts

of burglary and
scheming to defraud.

He ended up serving six
months in the county jail.

[Armstrong] Dominic
Harris did a great job

and it really couldn’t
have gone better.

I feel Amy is the hero
of this whole case.

To know that your best friend

wants to take
somebody else’s life,

and to be able to turn them in

to stop them from
killing somebody.

She’s the true hero
of this whole case.

[Hourihan] On the morning of
trial, janeene entered a "guilty" plea

to one count of solicitation
to commit murder.

And that was the count that
related to John Chamberlain.

Her defense requested
that the state drop

the count of solicitation
to commit murder

as it related to Matt Smith.

The state refused.

And ultimately, janeene Jones entered
a "guilty" plea to that count as well.

Janeene Jones was
sentenced to a life in prison.

Janeene is sitting
in Florida state prison

serving two live sentences.

It felt good to see
her in handcuffs.

I’m happy that she’s going
to be in there for a while.

[Hourihan] Janeene Jones
is still behind bars today.

But, she hasn’t
given up on love.

She’s still looking
for love online.
