Bridgewater Triangle

is an area of about
200 square miles

within Southeastern
Massachusetts in
the United States

claimed to be a site of
alleged paranormal phenomena

ranging from UFOs
to poltergeists,

orbs, balls of fire, and
other spectral phenomena.

Various bigfoot-like
creatures also,

as well as giant snakes
and thunderbirds.

Could this area be a
portal to another dimension

where paranormal creatures
can merge into our reality?

The possibility
is mind-boggling?

Within this region is
the Hockomock Swamp,

designated as the
most questionable area

within the triangle.

Numerous strange and unusual,
even ominous sightings

have been attributed
to the triangle,

including huge
snakes, large birds

known to Indian folklore
as thunderbirds,

and a large ape-like
creature dubbed bigfoot

because it leaves
18-inch footprints.

In the 1970s, there were
several sightings of UFOs

within the vicinity
of the triangle.

Located in the western
section of Bridgewater,

the Hockomock Swamp
serves as an important

water storage area
and wildlife refuge.

It's also the site

of an 8,000-year-old
Indian burial ground.

During King Philip's
War in 1675,

Philip used the
area as a refuge.

When archeologists
excavating the burial ground,

located on Grassy Island
in the Hockomock Swamp,

they opened the graves.

The red ochre within the tombs

mysteriously bubbled
and dissolved.

Photographs of the site would
not develop at the time.

The Wampanoag people
gave the swamp its name,

with Hockomock meaning,
"Place where spirits dwell."

Devil's Swamp is
what English settlers

of colonial times named it.

Human artifacts
discovered in the swamp

have been dated at
some 9,000 years old.

Native Americans
depended on the swamp

as an abundant source of
game and also worshiped it.

Hockomock referred not
only to the evil spirits

that struck terror into
the hearts of the colonists

but also the good spirits

that led Indians
to moose and deer.

Over generations, many
have believed the Hockomock

is home to spirits,
strange animals, and more.

Stories abound.

There are the vicious
giant dogs with red eyes

seen ravenously
sinking their fangs

into the throats of ponies,

a flying creature that
resembled a pterodactyl,

the dinosaur that could fly,

Native American ghosts
paddling canoes,

and glowing somethings
hovering around the trees.

There's also talk of a
shaggy half-man/half-ape

seen shuffling
through the woods.

Students of the
paranormal have speculated

that negative and disruptive
energy was created

when the Native
Americans of the region

were so horribly persecuted,

and that energy
continues to circulate

in the Hockomock Swamp.

There have been reports of cult

and satanic rituals
conducted in the swamp.

Some believe the
Hockomock Swamp is cursed.

The thunderbird is
a legendary creature

in certain North American
indigenous people's

history and culture.

It is considered a supernatural
being of power and strength.

The thunderbird controls
the upper world,

while the underworld
is controlled

by the underwater panther
or Great Horned Serpent.

The thunderbird creates
not just thunder

with its wings flapping
but lightning bolts,

which it casts at the
underworld creatures.

Native American tribes
tell of a great mountain

that floats in the western sky

on which dwell the thunderbirds

that control the rain and hail

and delight in fighting
and deeds of greatness.

They are the enemy of
the great horned snakes

and have prevented these
from overrunning the earth

and devouring mankind.

They are messengers of
the Great Sun himself.

Norton police sergeant
Thomas Downy filed a report

on the fact that he had
witnessed a thunderbird.

The mythical thunderbird,

a giant pterodactyl-like
flying monstrosity

with 12-foot wingspans,

are constantly being
spotted in the area

near Hockomock Swamp
and neighboring Taunton.

He described the creature as
being a six foot tall bird

with a wingspan between
8 and 12 feet across

as he passed what locals call
Bird Hill on his way home.

As he drew to a stop
at the intersection,

the bird flew straight
up and disappeared

over the dark
trees in the swamp.

Downy reported the sighting
to the Easton Police.

A patrol car searched the
area, but found nothing.

Strange large birds are
not the only cryptids

lurking in the swamp.

A multitude of weird creatures

are said to inhabit
this murky wilderness.

The Dover Demon is
one such creature.

A bright orange
four-foot-tall creature

was spotted during one week in
April of 1977 by four people,

first at a stone wall
along Farm Street

and two other times
in the next 25 hours.

One eyewitness, Bill Bartlett
reported seeing the creature

bathed in the beams
of his Volkswagen.

Bartlett said the
creature grabbed a
rock with long fingers,

slowly turning its head
toward the approaching car

and staring into the light.

He realized it
wasn't a dog or cat.

The entity possessed a large
head shaped like a watermelon.

Bartlett said that in
the center of the head

glowed two large, round,
glassy, lidless eyes

shining brightly like two orange
marbles in the headlights.

There was no discernible
nose, mouth, or ears.

The head seemed
supported on a thin neck.

The creature's body, according
to Bartlett, was thin,

with long spindly arms and
legs and large hands and feet.

The shape reminded
him of a baby's body

with long arms and legs.

Its skin was hairless

and appeared to be the
rough texture of a shark.

Then, it vanished.

17th-century
Massachusetts colonists

wrote about the sea serpents
they saw from ship and shore.

There were reports along the
coast from Northern Maine

to Massachusetts and
Southern New England.

Whether called, "Cassie,
the Casco Bay sea serpent"

around Portland or the
"Gloucester sea serpent"

in the Bay State,

sightings of a giant
serpentine creature

have emerged regularly over
the centuries to present day.

Perhaps the best known
sighting occurred

off Cape Ann in 1817.

In August of 1817,
accounts were so numerous

that General David Humphreys,

a former member of George
Washington's staff,

gathered the sightings
and published them

in the "Linnean Society of New
England," a report of 1817.

He noted that the head, visible
above the water's surface,

was described as being much
like the head of a turtle

but as broad as a horse,
with foot-long horns.

The body was said to be
80 to 100 feet in length,

like a row of casks or like
a string of buoys on a net.

Over a period of two years,

hundreds claimed to
have seen the serpent.

Since then, others have reported
seeing similar creatures,

even as recently as 2020 off
Mount Desert Island, Maine.

One of the most
famous mystery cats

in modern Massachusetts
history is the Beast of Truro.

In September of 1981,
an unidentified predator

began killing pets
and livestock.

First, domestic cats were
attacked, killed, and mutilated.

One eyewitness later was
quoted in The New York Times

as saying that the
killer had a long,

rope-like, curved,
J-shaped tail,

and weighed upward of 80
pounds with short ears.

Others said the predator
looked like a cougar.

A New Yorker visiting
Truro in December of 1981

reported to town officials
he had seen a mountain lion.

All are names for the
same kind of animal.

[mountain lion roaring]

But wildlife officials have said

they believe mountain lions
to be extinct in the East.

In January 1982, a
mystery predator,

thought to possibly
be the Beast of Truro,

mauled penned pigs
in two incidents.

And then the attacks stopped.

The word Pukwudgee is a
Delaware and Wampanoag word

that means "little wild
man of the forest."

The creatures are a part of
Native American traditions

and are said to be
dwarf-like hominids

with gray skin and large
ears, fingers, and noses.

All manner of magical
powers, abilities,

and traits are
associated with them,

including behaviors such as
disappearing and shape shifting.

Some have said they
possess poison arrows

and are able to start fires.

Be very careful in the area.

According to lore,
the little beings

will shove people
off Assonet Ledge

in the Freetown State
Forest if given the chance.

Several other creatures
that occur repeatedly

in human folklore and legend
have manifested themselves

in the Bridgewater Triangle,
including huge mystery snakes.

As one police officer told
Brockton newspaper reporters

in 1970 about strange
happenings in the area,

"Nothing surprises
us much anymore."

He mentioned a motorist ran over

an eight-foot boa constrictor.

They never learned
where it came from.

In 1939, Civilian
Conservation Corps workers

completing a project
on King Philip Street

on the edge of the swamp
reported in Depression-era news

about seeing a huge snake

as large around and
black as a stovepipe.

The snake coiled for a moment,
raised its spade-like head,

and disappeared into the swamp.

Local legends claim that
a huge snake like this one

appears every seven years.

In the 1940s and
'50s and recently,

there were reports
of a lake monster

said to be a giant
frog or little frogman

in Plymouth County's
Silver Lake.

Accounts of sightings
were talked about

around general stores
and mentioned in passing

in old newspaper articles.

Years later, wildlife
officials were on the lookout

for an alligator that
was rumored to have
taken up residence

in a nearby pond.

Department of Conservation
and Recreation officials

searched Silver Lake in the
Breakheart Reservation Park

in Saugus on July 28, 2011,
after two alligators sightings.

No alligators were ever found.

Creatures and monsters
are not the only thing

the Bridgewater
Triangle is famous for.

A multitude of spectral
ghosts and goblins

around the area exist.

One of the eeriest legends

has to be the red-headed
hitchhiker of Route 44.

It is said that a man
with a big ginger beard,

a plaid flannel shirt, and jeans

is often seen on the
side of the road.

He is said to get into
cars, only to disappear.

And then there's the
Freetown State Forest,

which has perhaps the darkest
reputation of them all.

There's Assonet Ledge,
the site of many suicides

and where people who have
never considered suicide

are said to get the
sudden urge to jump.

But much of this is
apparently due to its ties

to horrifying true
crime stories.

Retired Freetown detective

Sergeant Alan Alves said
he witnessed evidence

of regular satanic cult
activity in the forest

for 15 to 20 years,
beginning in the late-1970s

and continuing into
the early-'90s.

[man screaming]

He said he and other officers
would regularly find animals

that appeared to be
sacrificed ritualistically,

with no blood in the animal
but none on the scene either.

They'd often find
satanic graffiti

of upside down crosses
and pentagrams.

Alves said police believed in

the infamous Fall
River cult murders.

Carl Drew and Robin Murphy
conducted rituals in the forest,

even having a hut in the middle.

Alves said police found
an underground bunker

with creepy dolls believed
to belong to a satanic couple

who were prosecuted
for molesting children
they had adopted.

Alves was the first
officer on the scene

at the discovery of
15-year-old Mary Lou Arruda

after she was kidnapped in 1978

and found dead in the
forest two months later,

tied to a tree.

Visitors to the
Taunton State Hospital

have reported
strange happenings,

including having their shoulders

and legs touched and pulled

when entering certain
areas of the hospital.

There were areas of the hospital
that were allegedly used

by satanic cults in
the 1960s and '70s.

The one room Hornbine
School, located in Rehoboth,

is said to be haunted by
its former inhabitants.

Built in the 1840s, the school
was in active use until 1937.

However, visitors are
allowed to visit the school

on certain Sundays during the
summer and by appointment.

Over the years, visitors
have reported hearing voices

and other spectra in the school.

Some believe the
spirits are awakened

when the structure
was renovated in 1968

to celebrate the
town's anniversary.

At the opposite
end of the forest,

the Assonet Ledge has
its own set of legends.

The remote location
has reportedly been
the site of ghosts

standing atop the ledge and
leaping before disappearing.

In a recent
presentation in Dighton,

John Brightman from
the New England

Paranormal Research
Group reported

that he broke down
atop the ledge,

later realizing a spirit had
told him to jump or leave.

Ghosts and poltergeist are
said to haunt most of the area.

Most are said to
be Native Americans

trapped in an endless
loop of violence,

reliving those first
hostile encounters

with invading European forces.

According to legend, the reason
why the Bridgewater Triangle

is such a hot zone of
paranormal activity

is because the Native Americans

cursed the swamp centuries ago.

The Natives put a
curse on the area

on account of the poor
treatment they received

from colonial settlers.

The tales say that it
owes its paranormal unrest

because the Natives summoned
up dark spirits to dam the land

and have their revenge on
their European meddlers.

Every January, Spooklights,

unexplained elusive
balls of light,

have been seen over
the railroad tracks

that run beside the
Raynham Dog Track

and through the swamp.

No one knows why.

Among the spots on
the Bridgewater State
University campus

said to be haunted is
Shea-Durgin Dorm, Room 228,

and the auditorium, which
is said to receive visits

from a mischievous
ghost named George

who plays with the
stage lights and sounds,

according to the website
Haunted Places in Massachusetts.

Strange orbs rising
from the swamp,

ghosts that travel the
roads in the triangle,

and eerie howls,
barking, and calls

are said to be
consistent in the area.

Lizzie Borden was
an American woman

tried and acquitted of the
August 4th, 1892, ax murders

of her father and stepmother
in Fall River, Massachusetts.

Her ghost is said to
remain in the area

and is sighted often.

Her home is now a
bed and breakfast,

with countless stories
told by visitors.

No one else was
charged in the murders.

And despite ostracism
from their residents,

Borden spent the remainder
of her life in Fall River.

She died of pneumonia
at the age of 66,

just days before the
death of her sister, Emma.

The murders and trial
received widespread publicity

throughout the United States,
along with Borden herself.

They remain a topic in American
popular culture to this day.

The triangle is well-known
for ghosts, orbs,

and strange
glowing-eyed creatures,

but it's also a hotspot
for bigfoot activity.

The legendary Sasquatch
has been known in the area

well before the modern
term bigfoot was coined.

The Natives in the
area are quite familiar

with the large hairy beast.

Sightings go back to
the arrival of colonists

to the triangle and
well before that

by the indigenous tribes there.

It appears, along with
ghosts and spirits,

this elusive primate has
called Bridgewater home

since ancient times.

Bigfoot has quite a reputation
in the Bridgewater Triangle.

It has been cited
numerous times,

and bigfoot researchers have
cataloged these sightings

since the term first appeared
in newspapers in the 1950s.

Some think the swamp
may be the habitat

of a creature yet
to be identified.

In 1978, a 24-year-old
was standing on the shore

of Clay Banks, a pond in
Bridgewater near the swamp.

His back was to the water.

He said, "I was standing there

"and for some reason
I had to turn around.

"It was a chill or
something inside me.

"I turned around and,
there off to the right,

"maybe 200 yards away,
there was this...

"I don't know what it was.

"It was a creature that
was all brown and hairy,

"like a big apish-and-man thing.

"It was making its
way for the woods,

"but I didn't stick around
to watch where it was going.

"I ran for the street."

He has never figured
out what it was he saw.

Not long after his encounter,

the Bridgewater residents
organized expeditions

to search for bigfoot.

Equipped with
cameras and rifles,

the searchers trekked deep
into the Hockomock Swamp

two or three times.

They found [pausing] not
a trace of the beast.

[dramatic music]

About five years after his
encounter with the creature,

another local resident reported
seeing something similar.

John Baker, a
veteran fur trapper,

was about a mile from
his West Bridgewater home

on a canoe in a
river in the swamp

laying muskrat lines
on a winter night.

Paddling along in the quiet,
Baker heard a loud crash

and rumble of an animal
in the nearby woods.

Frozen with fear, he
saw a large hairy beast

slog into the river and
pass within a few yards.

"I knew it wasn't a human
because when it passed by me,

"I could smell it," Baker
said in an interview in 1998.

It smelled like a
skunk, musty and dirty.

Baker, who died in 2001,

always maintained that he
could not identify what he saw,

but that in his more than 30
years of trapping in the swamp,

he never saw such a
thing before or since.

One sighting occurred
in September 1972

in South Weymouth,
Massachusetts.

Dave, his sister,
and some friends

were walking near an old farm

near Union Street Elementary
School on Lintric Drive.

At that time, the area
was mostly farm fields

with overgrown grass.

They stood in a circle
under one of the large trees

on the field.

Dave was busy talking
to his sister,

when one of the
group heard or sensed

something was with
them in the field,

and at the time
it caught his eye.

It was to the left of them

and no more than
30 to 50 feet away.

It was a large hairy creature

walking parallel to the
school on their left.

They said it looked like
a gorilla, but was huge.

The creature had huge shoulders.

The boys estimated its shoulders

were six to eight
feet off the ground.

The head just went into them
with a slightly conical shape.

They said its arms were quite
long and the legs short.

It looked hairy, but was
really just a large dark shape

against the lights
of the school.

It crept in short movements.

The creature put its arms
out, hands down on the ground,

and then moved its
back legs forward

about the same distance.

They saw it do this a few times.

It did not walk upright,

although the creature was
silhouetted to the light

and they could tell
it was watching them.

The body was heavily built.

The head profile
looked like the bigfoot

in the 1967 Patterson film

when it turned and looked
at them as it walked away.

Needless to say, they
were frightened and ran.

They wanted to go back to see
if they could find it again,

but were too frightened by
the encounter to return.

Then something even more
strange happened to the group.

Within 10 minutes of
the bigfoot encounter,

a beam or a ray shot
in front of them.

[beam whooshing]

It was higher than the treetops,

but went right
across their path.

They said it looked
like a blacklight

stretched across the sky
because it was purple.

They described it as a
bright solid rod of light,

but did not illuminate anything.

It hummed and had a
feeling of power to it.

It lasted only a second or
two, but truly shocked them.

The boy said it was like
six inches in diameter

and shot across the
sky like a laser beam.

This area was less than a mile

from the South Weymouth
Naval Air Station,

which was active at the time.

The group speculated the beam

could have crossed
over the air base

and maybe even came from it.

All of them never saw
anything like the beam

or the creature again.

Their incredible story is
intriguing on many levels.

Weymouth borders the
Bridgewater Triangle apex town

of Abington to the north.

Lintric Drive is a mere
three-and-a-half miles

from Abington, Weymouth,
and many other towns

surrounding the delineated map
of the Bridgewater Triangle

where all these bizarre and
unexplained activities happened.

Some may scoff that Sasquatch

is a Pacific Northwest creature

and should not be
in the East Coast,

but the truth is Bigfoot
creatures have been cited

in almost all states in the USA.

He is especially
prevalent in the South,

and Eastern coastal
areas have had sightings

for as long as people
have been there.

Because of the
association of bigfoot

with strange lights,
orbs, and UFOs,

many speculate bigfoot
himself may be an alien.

The Bridgewater
Triangle appears to be

some kind of vortex for
paranormal activity.

It may be possible that
bigfoot is using this portal

to enter and leave the area,

which would explain
why search groups

who venture into the triangle

come back with little
to no physical evidence

of the creature's presence.

This area is home to a
myriad of cryptid creatures.

It's home to the
famous Jersey Devil.

The Jersey Devil, also
known as the Leeds Devil,

is a legendary creature
said to inhabit

the Pine Barrens
of South Jersey.

The creature is often described

as a flying biped with hooves,

but there are many variations.

The common description

is that of a bipedal
kangaroo-like creature

with a horse- or goat-like
head, leathery bat-like wings,

horns and small arms
with clawed hands,

legs with cloven hooves,
and a forked tail.

It has been reported to move
quickly and is often described

as emitting a high-pitched
blood-curdling scream.

The chupacabra, which originated
as an undiscovered animal

of legend and lore in
Puerto Rico in the mid-1990s

and then spread into South
America, Mexico, and Texas,

reportedly arrived
in Pennsylvania in
the past few years.

Along the way, the
description of the animal

has changed dramatically.

In Puerto Rico, the chupacabra
is a reptilian creature

with scaly green-gray skin and
sharp quills along its back.

It stands about three to four
feet tall on its hind legs

and hops about, similar to
the motion of a kangaroo.

In North America, including the
rare Pennsylvania sightings,

chupacabra is more of
a hairless wild canine.

It has an oversized head,
particularly around the jaws,

and pronounced bony
ridges along its spine.

This transformation
appears to have coincided

with a growing interest
in the creature

by monster hunter
shows on television.

Though not as
prevalent as bigfoot,

the chupacabra is sighted, but
may be a canine with mange.

Due in part to their isolated
and underdeveloped nature,

The Pine Barrens of Pennsylvania

have themselves fostered
various folk legends.

Apart from the Jersey Devil,

many other legends associated
with the Pine Barrens

include supernatural
creatures and ghosts

said to haunt the pine forest,

including the ghost of
pirate Captain Kidd,

who supposedly buried
treasure in the Pine Barrens

and is sometimes allegedly seen

in the company of
the Jersey Devil,

the ghost of the Black
Doctor, the benevolent spirit

of an African-American doctor
who, after being forbidden

from practicing medicine
due to his race,

entered the Pine Barrens
to practice medicine

in the isolated
communities of the Barrens

and is said to still
come to the aid

of lost or injured travelers,

the ghost of the Black Dog,

which, unlike many
black dog legends,

is usually portrayed
as harmless,

the ghost of the
Golden-Haired Girl,

the spirit of a girl
who is said to be

staring out into the
sea, dressed in white,

mourning the loss
of her lover at sea,

and the White Stag,
a ghostly white deer

said to rescue travelers
in the Barrens from danger.

There are also folktales
concerning the Blue Hole,

an unusually clear blue
and rounded body of water

located in the pine

and often associated
with the Jersey Devil.

In West Virginia folklore,

the Mothman is a
creature reportedly seen

in the Point Pleasant area

from November 15th of 1966
to December 15th of 1967.

The first newspaper
report was published

in the Point Pleasant Register.

The national press soon
picked up on the reports

and helped spread the story
across the United States.

The Mothman was introduced
to a wider audience

by Gray Barker in 1970

and was later popularized by
John Keel in his 1975 book

"The Mothman Prophecies,"

claiming that there
were supernatural events

related to the sightings

and a connection to the
collapse of the Silver Bridge.

An annual festival
in Point Pleasant

is devoted to the
Mothman legend.

Following the 1967 collapse
of the Silver Bridge

and the death of 46 people,

the incident gave
rise to the legend

and connected the
Mothman sightings to
the bridge collapse.

Mothman is still
sighted to this day.

Another cryptid creature that
lurks within the triangle

is the Dogman, said to
be half-man and half-dog.

The Dogman is an
upright-walking biped

that has canine features.

One encounter with the
Dogman took place years ago,

but the exact year is unknown.

It involves a young
woman who was distraught

with the impending breakup
with her boyfriend.

While walking to take
her mind off the dread,

the wind blew her hat off

and towards the woodline
near a baseball field.

As she ran to capture her hat

before it could blow
into the forest,

something emerged
from the treeline.

It was huge and looked like a
cross between a man and a dog.

It hopped out almost playfully,

like a puppy, and startled her.

She described the
creature as being large,

somewhere between a
bear and an elephant.

The creature had wide large eyes

that to her almost seemed sad.

The creature grabbed her
hat and shook it violently,

the way a puppy
will shake a toy.

The woman sighed, as now
the hat was destroyed,

and her exclamation of disgust
that her hat was ruined

brought the attention of
the Dogman back to her.

The Dogman stared
directly into her eyes

and she felt that
somehow the creature

was able to bond
or connect to her

as if it had invisible tethers

attached to her that
could control her.

The woman couldn't look away.

Though this may be strange
in itself, at that point,

that dog man actually spoke

and wanted her to
throw something else.

The woman began to back away
slowly away from the Dogman,

but didn't take her eyes off it.

The creature seemed
to become angry

and rose up on its hind legs,

then repeated in a gruff voice,

"I said, throw me
something else now!"

This frightened
the woman so much

she began to run
away, screeching and
screaming for help

as she crossed the
nearby baseball field.

She could hear the creature
barking and howling behind her,

but there was no one
nearby to hear her cries.

As she ran, she could hear
the creature behind her,

but was too terrified
to look back

to gauge how close it was.

But its howls and snarls
were growing louder.

She ran down a street,

and there she saw a friend
that was driving by.

Her friend stopped and
she jumped into the car.

Neither her friend nor
she could see the Dogman.

It had seemingly disappeared.

The Bridgewater Triangle is
home to many strange creatures

who lurk and haunt
the area forests.

Some fly, some crawl, and
others seem to meander about,

perhaps emerging from some sort
of weird vortex in the area.

Many have speculated
that this specific area

is imbued with paranormal
activity due to a curse

or some interdimensional nexus.

Some say this area is the home
of such strange occurrences

because it's a place aliens
use to explore our planet.

Of all the creature
experiences in the triangle,

there are an equal amount

of strange sky phenomena
present as well.

The Jersey Devil and the
Mothman are both said to fly.

But if you peer into the dark
skies above the triangle,

you may get a glimpse of a UFO.

The first documented
UFO sighting

in the Bridgewater Triangle

took place on May the 10th,
1760, at 10 o'clock that morning

when a sphere of fire was
observed over New England.

According to historical
records, the UFO emitted a light

bright enough to cast a
shadow in bright sunlight.

The sound made by the
object appeared to be heard

ahead of seeing the object.

The light was seen
in Bridgewater, as
well as in Roxbury.

Bridgewater was again visited
on Halloween night 1908,

an incident that
was well-documented

in the local newspapers.

Two undertakers were
driving a carriage

from West Bridgewater to
the center of Bridgewater

when the incident occurred
shortly after 3:00 a.m.

They described the object

as looking like an
unusually strong lantern

about two-and-a-half
feet in diameter

illuminating a larger object
resembling a hot air balloon.

They watched it for
at least 40 minutes

and other witnesses saw it too.

It would seem to hover at times

and keep a straight steady
course at other times.

Though one newspaper reported

that all of the known
hot air balloons

had been accounted for,

some people who had
not seen the object

believed that the UFO had
indeed been a hot air balloon.

To counter this suggestion,
one of the undertakers wrote,

"I claim that a hot air balloon
could not move in a circle

"or perpendicular
way as this one did."

He also wrote that the
object moved up and down,

seemingly at the will
of some individual.

Throughout the history
of the triangle,

there have been a multitude
of UFO encounters,

some famous and
some not so famous.

There were many UFO
sightings in the area

during the mid-'60s and
reports continue to come in

through the decades.

Two huge UFOs were seen landing
near Route 44 in Taunton

in December of 1976.

In March of 1979,
two newsmen from WHDH

saw an object shaped like a
home plate on a baseball diamond

and emit a mysterious
green substance

at the junction of Routes
24 and 106 in Taunton.

Also, in January of 1991,

a green flying disc was
seen in the Bridgewater area

moving slowly and silently at
an altitude of about 50 feet,

illuminating a large area
with a powerful spotlight.

In late-November 1997, a
law enforcement officer

working the night
shift in Bridgewater

saw a very large triangular UFO

with three white and two
red star-like lights.

On December 10th of '98,

a witness near Route
44 in Middleborough

saw a strange brightly-lit craft

with numerous red,
green, and white lights

maneuvering over Assawompset
Pond in Middleborough.

The object split into two,

and then the two UFOs
flew geometric patterns

at high high-speed
around the sky,

displaying spectacular
colored lights.

The craft then merged into
one again and disappeared.

Soon after, Air Force planes
were seen over the pond,

apparently searching
for something.

In the summer of 1999,
20-year-old George LaCasse

saw a UFO in his
hometown, Bridgewater.

According to the
local newspaper,

the Sunday Enterprise, LaCasse
saw a distant red light.

He stated, "It was
moving all around.

"It was moving in shapes
planes don't move."

September 1st, 1969,

four families with apparently
no connection to one another

claimed they were
picked up by a UFO

and moved by a ray of light.

One of the most prominent
and persistent eyewitnesses

in the incident is Thomas Reed,

who was nine years
old at the time

when he claims to have
this UFO encounter.

According to Reed, his
family was driving home

when they saw strange lights

and have spoken about
being taken aboard

a tarnished
circular-looking vessel

where an image of a
willow tree was displayed.

Reed says the
September 1969 incident

was his third
extraterrestrial experience.

He claims he was taken in 1966

and then in 1967
from his bedroom.

The two Reed brothers believe

they have had other
supernatural encounters since.

Another witness, Tom Warner,

remembers running outside
his neighbor's house

when a beam of light from
the sky flashed onto him.

Jane Shaw, his neighbor,

said he disappeared
for a few minutes.

Warner also claims he
saw a 14-year-old girl

named Melanie Kirchdorfer
aboard the UFO.

Kirchdorfer has
backed up his story.

She says she had an instant
connection with Reed

when she saw him on the ship.

In 2015, the Great
Barrington Historical Society

officially recognized
the 1969 encounter

as a historical event

because so many people reported
the incident independently.

Reed now works with New Mexico's
International UFO Museum.

Tom Warner still lives
in Massachusetts.

He says, "The papers
and the stories

"have gotten so ridiculous
that the truth has been lost.

"Our family is very credible.

"We're not a bunch of lunatics."

In 2015, Thomas Reed,
along with the locals,

put up a $5,000
monument to the event

near the bridge where Thomas
said the incident took place.

However, the obelisk
was removed in 2019.

In Freetown, the remains
of a mutilated cow

were discovered in
1998 in a remote area

of the Freetown Fall
River State Forest.

Police investigated
what appears to be

the second ritualistic
animal killing

in the same location
in prior months.

The headless carcass
of the full-grown cow

was discovered by
a dirt bike rider.

In late April, a dozen
calves were slaughtered

in the same spot of
the 6,000-acre forest.

Detectives who has
investigated incidents

related to satanic cults
for more than 20 years

attributed both incidents

to ongoing devil
worship and rituals.

They believe they were
sacrificed, decapitated,

and dismembered in preparation
for the week-long holiday

known as the Grand Climax,

which runs from April to
May in the satanic calendar.

May is the second-highest
holiday of their year.

Halloween is the highest.

A short distance from
a burned-out campfire,

detectives found what
they were looking for:

a fresh carcass of an
adult cow split in two

and picked nearly
clean to the bone.

There's no head and
there is only one hoof.

Animals, maybe
coyotes and foxes,

probably pick the
skeleton clean.

When the cow was found, there
was still a lot of meat on it.

The cow was drained
of its blood.

There was not even a drop
of blood on any leaf there

or on the ground anywhere.

The detective said
devil worshipers

are known to drink the
blood of sacrificial animals

from a skull or silver chalice

during a black mass
and other rituals,

believing it to be
symbolic of Satan's blood.

They use the heart like
a host in a Catholic mass

and the rituals
always involve sex,

chanting, and
mind-altering drugs.

Although there is a dairy farm

near the Dartmouth
entrance to the forest

and just a short distance

from where the mutilated
animals were discovered,

the police received no
reports of stolen cows.

The animals may
have been purchased

rather than stolen
for the rituals.

He speculated the animals coulda
been trucked into the area

and led to the
side of the deaths.

"There are animal auctions where
people show up to buy goats

"and other animals for
this kind of thing,

"especially this time of
year," detectives said.

They say it's
difficult to prosecute

those responsible for animal
killings of this nature.

"While there are laws
against animal cruelty,

"you pretty much have to
catch them in the act.

"It's not really a major crime

"and we have to be very careful

"with freedom of
religion issues.

"We're between a rock
and a hard place.

"We're familiar with the people
involved in the area cults.

"Thank goodness we haven't
seen any human sacrifice.

"Although we do
get rumors of it,

"we haven't found
any evidence of it

"since the murders in 1979."

In that year, three young women

involved in Fall
River prostitution

and linked to an area
cult were murdered

as part of a ritual sacrifice.

Two of the women were found

with their hands and
legs lashed together

and their skulls crushed.

The skull of the third
victim, with its jaw removed,

was discovered in a
wooded area at Westport,

but her body was never found.

What would drive people
to worship Satan?

Could the strange
paranormal vortex

in the Bridgewater Triangle

have an influence on
people in the area,

making them change their
beliefs towards the paranormal?

chupacabras, and dogmen

are just a few of the
myriad of creatures

who lurk within the
triangle and in area swamps.

Whether a Native American curse
or a vortex resides within,

we may never know why this area

is such a strong hotspot
for paranormal activity.

Wherever you are, look around.

There may be a hotspot near you.

Why specific areas become
a nexus for the paranormal

is anyone's guess.

They occur throughout
the country

and often have legends that
go back into antiquity.

Bigfoot has been sighted
in almost all 50 states,

UFOs are prevalent
around the world,

and spectral ghosts
have remained in legend

for all of man's
recorded history.

Could it be that there are
vortexes around the globe

acting as portals to
another dimension?

Could all the mysterious
creatures, orbs, UFOs,

and other phenomena be
arriving on our planet

through these strange
and invisible portals?

Further investigation is
needed, but perhaps one day

an event so strange,
so phenomenal may occur

that points to these
places as the origin

of all that is weird
and paranormal.
