with just a single log cabin

There's actually a really great
stone monument

in a pavilion dedicated to him

and every year the town hosts
a Santa's workshop

at the pavilion every Christmas.

Anyway, when Hank was setting up
his first Christmas tree,

he realized he didn't have
any lights or decorations.

Over the course
of the next few days

all these random objects
started appearing on his porch.

Flower petals, twigs,
pine cones, you name it.

And it was these marmots
who were bringing him

like tokens of gratitude because
he'd unknowingly scared away

all the coyotes who'd never seen
a human before.

But, on Christmas Eve,

he received the biggest
surprise of all.

A 12-ounce gold nugget
on his porch

that the marmots found by
burrowing into the river bed.

Sort of became tradition
for the townspeople to leave

small gifts at Christmas time on
the porches of their neighbors.
