They are gloomy,

superstitious tales
have a hold in their hearts,

they whisper strange songs,

and it is said some of them
are able to talk to animals.

Within their gaze
the majesty of the mountains

and the terrors of Hell are reflected.

They seldom descend
to the churches,

but to sermons they listen in awe.

However, God knows and loves them.

Lord, keep us safe from harm!
