- God's words that are stated

There's truth in His words,

and there's no one
who can speak against it.

that I went before God,

and He told me
that if I repent and obey

His commandments,

Scripture calls

He will give us desires

there's a peace we receive

Jesus made in saving our souls

and reconciling us
to the Father.

In the scripture,

salvation is only made possible
by the life and death

and resurrection of Jesus,

and salvation is only possible

by the work of Jesus Christ

dying on the cross for us.

I became a Christian,

things have gotten
pretty tough at work.

Why is that?

- Well, it may appear
that way to you,

but I can assure you
that's not the case.

It's always been tough.

now realizing it.

but you're no longer of it.

- I'm sorry.

What is that supposed to mean?
- Well, being in the world

but no longer of it means
you're not of a worldly mindset.

You see, when you were filled
with the Holy Spirit,

God gave you a new nature.

And with that new nature,
some of the people

that were once in your life
can turn you

'cause they're hostile
towards that nature.

It's the battle
of two different natures.

It's more a spiritual warfare
than anything else.

- What do you mean?
Like good versus evil?

- That's a simplistic way
of looking at it,

but you get the picture.
- Huh.

Never looked at it
from that perspective.

- Well, you couldn't have

until you were filled
with the Holy Spirit.

In the book of Ecclesiastes,

Solomon talks about his pursuit
of wisdom and knowledge.

He states that with much wisdom
comes much sorrow.

The more knowledge,
the more grief.

In other words, the more
you increase in knowledge

and wisdom of the Bible,
the more you realize

how depraved our society
really is.

I don't mean to sound morbid,
but it's the truth.

- Becoming Christian

doesn't exempt us from
the obstacles we face in life,

but it does teach us how to deal
with and accept those obstacles.

The guy who interviewed me

is headed or the current state

You know, I heard a story
the other night at Bible study

I'd like to share with you,

There was a man who was badly
injured in a car accident.

He nearly died
from the injuries he sustained.

Now this man
wasn't a believer at all.

He'd probably never touched
a Bible a day in his life,

but after God spared his life,

he surrendered his life
to God and vowed

to bring as many people
as possible back to God,

and one day his job sent him
out of state for a convention,

and while he was
at this convention,

he met a lady with whom
he told his story,

and this lady was a believer,

and she was so moved
by his story

that she pleaded with him
to visit her brother's house

and witness to him
about the Lord.

So the man went to
the brother's house the next day

to speak to him,

and the brother was
in a wheelchair

due to injuries he sustained
in a car accident as well,

and the brother was so angry

that God had allowed him
to suffer this fate.

The man told him
that God still loved him

and that if he repented,
God would bless his soul

and bless him
with eternal salvation.

He told him he would never again

be separated
from the love of Christ

and that God still
had a purpose for his life.

And then he told him
about eternal separation,

and that if he died
in his sins without Christ,

his soul would be
eternally separated from God,

and after hearing this message,

the brother was grieved
in his spirit,

and he broke down to tears.

So the man asked him
if he wanted to receive Christ,

but the brother asked the man
to let him think about it

and asked if he would return
the next day for his answer.

Well, the man returned
the next day

to the brother's house only to
find his sister there instead.

He asked the sister
where the brother was,

and she informed him
that her brother had

passed away the night
before in his sleep.

The point
I'm making here, Scott,

is that man waited too long

and died in his sins
without Christ,

and I care too much about you

to let something
like that happen.

You're my brother,
and I love you.

Would you be willing to come
with me to a men's Bible study

just to learn about
the forgiving love of Christ?

- I understand

About five years ago,

I went through
a devastating experience,

and I turned my back on God.

I lost my mother to cancer,

and about a year
and a half after,

my brother died unexpectedly.

I questioned where God was
with all of this.

I was so angry at Him
for letting this happen to me.

[exhales] It was the darkest
period of my life.

I mean, I even thought that life
wasn't worth living, you know?

Man, I was in a bad place.

I was--I've never felt so alone.

Then one day I was lying
in bed feeling sorry for myself,

and I got a call from Eddie,
and he invited me out to lunch,

and we had a long conversation,

and he allowed me
to unload all the pain

that I was feeling onto him,

and he didn't judge me
for how I was feeling.

He just listened.

And from that day forward,
I have walked with God,

and I've never looked back.

You know, there's some days
that I don't make it to church?

Yeah. there's some days
I don't read the Bible?

Yeah. The difference now

is I don't feel condemned
to Hell when it happens.

You see, God, he doesn't want
you to have a legalistic faith.

He wants what's in your heart,

and once you become
a true believer

and diligently study
the word of God,

He puts his trust in your heart
and in your mind.

Jesus Christ, He's liberated us.
We're no longer under the law.
