and a young Elisabeth,

But it is said that at the time,

Elisabeth was deeply in love
with another man,

Heinrich Kellman,

a soldier in her Royal Army,

with whom she would steal away

to darkened corners of
the castle for romantic trysts.

Four children were born
from the marriage between

Elisabeth and Franz.

The first, a daughter, Sophia,

who was said to have succumbed
to typhus

when she was just a baby.

There are some, however,
like myself,

who believe that Sophia
may have survived.

That she was in fact,
Heinrich's daughter,

born of their affair
and secreted away

to be raised by her father
at his home in Hungary,

never being told the truth about
her family and her lineage.

Those who believe,
speak of a ring

made for Elisabeth's father

and passed down to his daughter
on a golden chain

which Elisabeth herself placed
around the neck

of the baby girl

to show her love and devotion

for Sophia
and the child's father.

Whether you believe the romantic
tale or not,

one thing is certain:

the ring disappeared,

lost for 150 years now,

left to become fodder for debate

amongst historians,
archaeologists,

boring museum curators,
such as myself.
