over so many years.

I told them of the Seven Wonders
of the human world.

Of a master called Henry. Horrid Henry.

A mum who cleans my cage
week in, week out.

A worm who is a little brother
and who says,

"Eek," a lot.

The enemy next door
who never gives up trying to win.

The Whirring Wheel
that makes all the colours blend into one.

The Tickly Treats Cave

that always smells delicious.

And my special sleeping box

that is sometimes dark and sometimes light

but always cosy.

I have to remind myself

that some hamsters
aren't meant to be caged.

There spirits are just too bright.

And when they leave,

there's a part of you that knows
that they have to go.

Still, the place you live in

can seem that much more drab and empty
when they're gone.

I guess I just miss my friends.

[Fang sighs]

[Bernard] Remember, Fang,
hope is a good thing.

Maybe the best of things.

[Fang] And when I remember what happened,

I find I'm so excited

that I can barely sit still
or hold a thought in my head.

I think it's the excitement
only a free hamster can feel.

A free hamster
at the start of a long journey

whose conclusion is uncertain.

One day, I hope to see my friends

and shake their paws.

I hope the Blue Yonder

is as blue as it is in my dreams.

I hope.
