I think he might have been a stalker.
I feel something worse is coming,
and I'm doing everything I can to protect them.
I think he abducted her. I think he killed her.
He confesses to 44 murders.
"You're not safe.
A bad ghost will come and get you."
I'm very worried about anyone being here at all.
This monster could become abusive toward the living.
And I just feel fear.
My name is Amy Allan.
This is like Grand Central Station for the dead.
I see dead people.
They have pain that they suffered.
I speak to dead people.
She hates them, hates them.
And they speak to me.
But there's only one way to know if my findings are real.
It's a demon. It's Satan.
I rely on my partner.
I'm Steve Di Schiavi.
I'm a retired New York City homicide detective.
What was the body count, what happened?
And I know every person, every house has secrets.
I don't know if it's a demon or not,
but it sure as hell looks like one.
It's my job to reveal them.
I feel like I'm crazy.
But Steve and I never speak...
We never communicate during an investigation.
...until the very end...
I don't even want to show you this.
...when we uncover if it's safe for you to stay...
I just don't want anything to happen to my mother.
...or time to get out.
You have to get out.
So I'm up here in Highland Park, Illinois.
It's about a half hour north of Chicago.
I got a call from a young mom named Michelle.
Now, she and her family recently moved
into what they thought would have been their dream home,
but after months of relentless paranormal attacks,
she says living there is hell on Earth.
Before Amy arrives,
I clear the area of any leading information.
Photographs, toys, and other personal items
have to be covered or removed.
When I'm finished, the location will be ready
for tonight's walk.
There is a darkness here,
like a complete layer of darkness
that's trying to get through my protections,
which is really concerning.
This area -- it collects the bad from people.
Then I just got people in misery and memories.
So, Michelle, I'm glad I'm here
'cause when we spoke on the phone,
I could hear the emotions in your voice.
What the hell is going on?
It's been living hell around here.
I'm in fear for my children's safety.
They're being attacked physically, emotionally.
So am I.
Who all lives here in the house?
Well, here we have...
This is my husband, Matthew. Okay.
This is our 11-year-old son, Teddy,
and our darling little daughter, Evie.
She's 7.
All right, Michelle, do me a favor and give me a rundown
of what the hell's going on here.
We've been hearing disembodied voices.
We have objects that move on their own.
We've been having electrical issues.
We've also been having shadow figures.
Recently, there have been physical attacks,
and my daughter's health is being affected.
In what way?
She keeps getting sick -- nausea, vomiting.
And you believe it's the paranormal?
I do.
She didn't get sick like this before.
Taken her to the doctors several times,
and they say that there's nothing wrong with her.
How you dealing with it on a day-to-day basis?
When we're home, the feelings that you feel are intensified.
Something that would normally, you know, might annoy you
just piss you off to high hell.
What do you think is here?
Well, I think my ex-fiancé, Casey, is here.
He died when he was 21,
and it was very, very sudden.
Sorry. No, it's okay.
What were the circumstances?
The doctor said that it felt like an asthma attack to him.
This is him.
He died in Chicago,
and he took a very large part of me with him,
but he has found me wherever we've gone.
I mean, you don't think Casey is causing any harm?
No, no.
I think if anything, he's trying to protect us.
Okay.
What do you think whatever's here wants?
I think there's something here that wants to
suck the life out of me and my children.
It feels like it's slowly killing me.
So, this is not good.
I'm seeing a lot of dead people.
There's a bunch of people.
It's almost like they're putting...
dead people on hold in there.
I guess that's what they were talking about --
this layer of darkness.
There's, like, one dead female who really wants
the **** out of there.
All right, Michelle, so obviously this is the kitchen.
What's going on in here?
We're having a lot of electrical issues.
We have the TV turning on and off by itself,
speakers connecting and disconnecting... Okay.
...and all the lights in the house have been turned on
when we were all asleep.
So, now, do you have those motion detectors --
when you walk into the room, the lights go on?
- We do not. - Okay, anything else?
I was meditating one day, and as I'm looking up,
I'm seeing all this black gunk come out of my mouth
and raise up to the ceiling.
And there's a woman, like, plastered against the ceiling,
and the black gunk is encircling her
and going in and out of her mouth.
So, I know meditation can be very relaxing, right?
So is it possible you fell asleep
and this was just a nightmare?
No chance.
I've meditated plenty of times to know the difference.
Okay. You got some crazy **** going on here.
Yes. I'm terrified.
I think it wants to kill me.
I'm seeing an elderly woman.
She causes a lot of **** ruckus,
lots of noise at night.
I do believe she lived here.
You know, she hasn't moved on.
So, I think the living are hearing, you know,
basically an elderly woman up at night
and just fussing around and making stuff and cleaning
and talking to her animals and mumbling.
I get, like, the fear factor here.
Okay, so what's going on up here?
Very often, it will feel as if someone or something
is sitting on the bed with me
or crawls onto the bed or even lays down next to me.
I mean, is it possible
that's your husband getting into the bed?
It happens whether he's in the bed or not.
Anything else going on in this room?
I've been scratched and had bruises left on me.
I have a couple pictures,
and these are each when I have been fully awake.
Anything else like this happen to you?
Yes.
I have been attacked sexually.
And how often does this happen?
It happens up to a few times a month.
I'm able to feel the hand, like, moving down me.
I'm afraid to even ask you if there's anything else.
I mean, are you sleeping at all?
Barely.
I have nightmares all the time,
every single night.
By far the most jarring and horrible for me
is the ones about my kids.
I've seen them drown. I've seen them shot.
I've seen them stabbed like they're being murdered.
They're killing themselves. They...
All right.
I feel something worse is coming,
and I'm doing everything I can to protect them,
and I can't protect them.
Yeah. Come here. Come here.
I'm sorry.
There's a strange-looking dead guy out here.
You can see him, but always in a blur.
I call him the blurry man 'cause he literally looks
like a watercolored painting that was smudged.
So, the blurry guy, when he's up here,
likes this room.
He likes to watch.
If the lights are off,
they might see him as a shadow person,
and he can be physical.
Nightmares, nightmares.
I'm gonna say that he likes this person.
This is an actual living person in the house.
I think he thinks if he can completely manifest, like,
he'd kind of be alive again or something,
and I think that's not good.
So, Teddy, how old are you?
11.
11. okay.
So, I was talking to Mom, and she said
there's some scary things going on in the house.
- Yeah. - Okay.
Can you tell me about some of the things
that are bothering you here?
I play with my toys on my desk, and I go to sleep.
I wake up. They're on the ground.
Okay, so when you go to sleep at night,
you keep your toys up on top?
Yeah, right there.
And you wake up, they're on...
- Yeah. - Okay.
You think your little sister is playing tricks on you?
No.
All right, buddy, anything else?
Whenever I'm alone, I feel like I'm being watched.
Do you have any idea what it might be
that's actually watching you?
Not really, but I know that it --
most of the time, it makes me feel nervous.
You get a sense that whatever's here is trying to hurt you?
Sometimes, yes.
I don't like this.
Blurry dude comes up in here.
So he can open and close doors.
He does that sometimes.
If he wants to spy, or watch like he does,
he has to open the door to see.
I think he has a particular attachment to this room.
He does kind of give this person
the feeling that they shouldn't be in here,
feeling like, "Got to go" --
tension, anxiety, nervous.
So, Matt, I was talking to your wife today,
and she mentioned that she thinks
whatever's in this house is dangerous,
and especially dangerous for the kids.
Do you have any opinions on that?
I've always been a skeptic
and not really believed in this sort of thing.
So let me ask you a question.
Have you had any experiences at all?
Yeah.
A lot of times, I will hear voices,
sometimes footsteps.
Okay, anything else?
Sometimes when I'm going up the stairs in the basement,
I get this feeling like something's
pulling me back down,
like a magnetic or, like, an emotional pull.
So you've had a lot of experiences
for somebody that's a skeptic so far.
I'm just not 100%.
I'm having a really hard time with it.
Why do you think that is?
Part of me kind of feels like
I'm not providing and protecting,
doing my job as a father.
But what could I do, you know?
This is weird.
So, I don't know when, but at some point,
somebody collected --
somehow collected or captured all these dead people.
It's like a box, in a clear box,
and I can see these dead people are wanting out.
Really loud. It hurts.
They're dark. They're really dark.
Pain and misery.
So, Evelyn, sweetie, how old are you?
7.
Okay. So I was talking to Mommy today.
She was telling me about some of the scary things
that are going on.
Yeah, can you tell me about some of the stuff that's scaring you?
When I go down in the basement,
I feel like people are following me, chasing me.
Like, kind of like ghosts?
So, dead people.
Okay, so anything else, sweetie?
I kind of feel like there's people in my head, saying,
"You're not safe.
A bad ghost will come and get you."
So, you have a voice that tells you
that you may have a bad ghost in here?
Okay.
You feel like it wants to hurt you?
Kay.
Mommy was saying that you've been getting sick a lot lately.
One minute of cold, I get sick.
If we can fix this, you want to stay in this house?
Don't like this room.
Horrible, horrible.
So, I'm seeing this guy, and he's, like,
dropped to his hands and knees, and he's, like, trying to pray.
He's like, "Ahhhh."
So I'm thinking maybe this person is sick.
He's praying for somebody -- whoever's in this bed.
And I see him falling to his knees
and starting to pray, and then it's, "Whoomp,"
and then becomes visibly this thing,
like a monster.
It's, like, got red skin, like, a reddish-orange skin,
stringy, dark, dirty hair,
long twisted face.
Do you have any idea what this thing is yet?
I don't know.
There's illness.
Stomach is very, very, very bad.
So is this thing dangerous?
Yes. It can interact with the living,
I think, being abusive, scaring them.
It's **** insane in here.
Michelle is convinced all the electrical stuff
happening in her house is related to the activity there.
I'm heading back there now to meet an electrical inspector
to find out if there's a simpler explanation
to the things Michelle and her family are going through.
Will, thanks for coming out and meeting me.
I appreciate it. No problem. No problem.
So, my clients here are having all kinds
of electrical problems in the house.
Stuff's going on and off on its own.
Can you think of anything that might cause that?
Well, it could be some electrical issues.
We're right near the high-tension lines.
Sometimes you get interference from that.
Okay, so do me a favor. Go in there, do your thing.
Inspect this place for me,
and let me know if there's any problems.
Beautiful. Okay.
I have no idea what Amy's gonna find during her walk,
but when you work a case, you have to rule out
the obvious first, and that's what I'm doing here.
If there are electrical issues in the house,
it could explain some of what Michelle
and her family are dealing with.
We'd get that issue fixed, and they'd be good to go.
All right. So, how'd it go?
Pretty good, pretty good. Nothing really major.
All right, so as far as devices
turning on and off by themselves,
nothing you've found would cause that?
No, nothing electrical.
Okay.
I'm seeing the blurry man again.
How would it interact with the living?
He does move objects.
He can open and close doors.
He can affect electricity.
Everything will go on and be crazy.
Is that anything that the living are in danger from?
It might be a slight possibility
if he could become enraged or have a kind of mental break,
and then I don't know what could happen.
We've done cases in the Chicago area before,
so I already have some connections here.
I asked my old buddy John Schmidt,
who's an historian, to do some digging for me.
Now, he says when the original owner
of Michelle's property died,
his wife was so desperate to keep the property,
she did something he's never seen before.
It sounds like it's really gonna help my case.
Well, John, thanks for meeting me and helping me out.
So, the original owners of my clients' property --
let's start there with who they were
and when did they get there?
That was John and Elizabeth Corcoran,
and they came from Ireland,
bought your clients' property in 1846--
a newly married couple.
They lived there. They had three children.
So, now, I know the husband dies.
When does that happen?
He starts getting these pains in his mouth.
It turns out he's got mouth cancer.
Geez. And, yeah, he hangs on,
and he dies in July of 1859, and he's only in his 40s.
We got the death certificate right here.
So he's, what, 44?
Yeah, yeah, 44.
John, you mentioned on the phone
that the wife did something crazy after the husband died.
What's the story with that?
John Corcoran had left the house to his wife... Okay.
...but the property -- your clients' property --
he left to the three children,
and they were under 12 years of age,
and, plus, he left this whole big mountain of debt,
and Elizabeth didn't have any way to pay this debt.
She actually sues the kids in court
to try to get control of your clients' property.
What happens with the lawsuit?
Well, she won the lawsuit, but it was only temporary
because she still owed all of these debts,
and she lost the property again anyway,
and they had to sell it at auction.
All right, so John, she loses the property,
loses the house.
What happens to her?
Well, Elizabeth and kids -- they're left with nothing.
They had to sell this house at auction,
but then in the bizarre twist,
she marries the man who bought the property at auction.
He's several years older than her. Okay.
This is Frederick William Tillman.
All right. So now she's back on my clients' property.
How's it go for her?
Unfortunately, a few years later,
Frederick William Tillman died in 1874.
He's 72 years old, and for some reason,
he didn't leave a will with his wife in it,
so once again, she loses your clients' land.
Okay.
Second time a widow,
second time losing your clients' land.
Lost it all. Sad situation.
I'm seeing the elderly woman again.
Can you tell anything about her in life?
I do believe she lived here,
but she's in denial about basically everything.
She was little, maybe Italian descent.
I'm not sure.
I'm getting, like, late 70s with her.
So I think that she died here, I do,
or started her death process here --
probably heart, something with the heart.
So it's really not good.

So far, I've got a mother worried sick
over the safety of her kids on a property
where one of the original owners lost her land twice.
But I want to see if there's anything else.
Searching through old records, I find a murder that happened
near Michelle's house back in the '40s.
So I'm headed over to meet a true-crime author.
He says the perp was one of the most prolific serial killers
in U.S. history,
and the guy claimed he put a curse
on everyone involved in bringing him down.
Well, Rich, I appreciate you looking into this case for me.
Now, let's start with the woman
who was murdered near my clients' property.
What do we know about her?
Alta Bernice Fulkerson.
She was a 35-year-old spinster living with her parents
not far from your clients' property.
Let's talk about the murder. What happened?
Her parents had gone away for the weekend.
In the wee hours of the morning,
a criminal thug entered the residence,
dragged her from the house,
assaulted her, and left her for dead.
I see a dead male wearing, like,
a trench coat and a hat.
He's black.
He's in his 40s or 50s,
but always in the shadows.
I think he might have been a stalker.
He's about dominating and sexually motivated.
Then I'm seeing this woman.
She was 20 to 35.
I think he abducted her. I think he killed her.
And I think he buried her
in possibly then what was a field.
All right, so what's the official cause of death
on this poor lady?
The official cause was blunt-force trauma.
It's probable that she was sexually assaulted.
So, from our conversation on the phone,
I know this guy was caught. How'd that happen?
So, five years pass. The case goes cold.
In 1947, a 46-year-old drifter named Jake Bird
is apprehended in Tacoma, Washington,
fleeing the scene of the crime
where he had murdered a mother and a daughter.
- This is him? - That's Jake Bird.
There seems to be a pattern to his homicides.
He bludgeoned and then sexually assaulted the victims.
There are some random dead that come from over here...
...and they're naked, and it's mostly women.
I see them coming out of the ground.
They're relatively young, too.
I'd say all of them -- like, 35 and under.
I think that these women were killed over a 10-year time span.
They were raped and murdered and dumped.
By separate different people?
No, same person.
All right, so now he's pretty much
caught red-handed in Tacoma.
What happened with that case?
He's convicted of the murder of the two Tacoma women,
and he is sentenced to death on the gallows.
Okay, so they're gonna hang him.
As the execution date draws closer, Bird panics.
He confesses to 44 murders in an effort
to get his sentence commuted to life.
How's that work out for him?
Well, it doesn't work out according to his plan.
He's executed.
Now, Rich, you mentioned on the phone
that this guy put a curse on the people that prosecuted him.
What's the story with that?
Jake Bird vowed that all the people
involved with his prosecution were going to die before he did.
Within less than a year's time,
five individuals die of a heart attack,
including the deputy sheriff who he confessed to
and the presiding judge at the trial.
You're kidding me.
This is all documented.
What are the chances of that?
These women -- they do go into the house...
...but it's only when they're called.
You don't know by whom or what?
I'd say a living person.
The only thing I could, like, maybe think of
is that somebody's a sensitive, and they're dreaming this.
Somebody's having dreams about women,
I mean, who were murdered or something.
They are seeking whoever's putting the call out,
seeking that person.
I saw several disturbing things on my walk,
but two stood out --
first, the monster in the upstairs bedroom.
There was a younger male
who then transformed into a monster.
The eyes were just kind of black, but also kind of twisted.
The top of the eyes are off.
Okay.
Next, I described the trapped souls in the basement.
I saw a naked woman
who was trying to get out.
I could actually see her palm being smushed
against this... invisible door.
Amy, is this what you saw?
Yes, that's what I saw.
Now that Amy and I have completed our investigations,
we're ready to reveal our findings to each other
and our clients for the first time.
So, Amy, I'd like you to meet Michelle and her husband, Matt.
Now, they moved into this house about eight months ago
with their two sweet kids.
This is Teddy, who's 11,
and this is Evelyn, who is 7.
Michelle says something in the house
is attacking her and the kids,
and if you can't find a way to stop it,
someone's gonna die.
So now that Amy knows who you guys are,
I'll ask her to describe her walk for us.
So, when I got here, I encountered a male,
and he is really active here.
He's rather thin and tall.
I know he had light skin and darker hair.
I called him the blurry man
because he looks like blurred watercolor,
you know, so there's no real definition.
The major thing that he affects is electricity,
so nothing here really, you know,
works the way it should.
I was woken up at 4:15 a.m. one night
by a Bluetooth speaker blaring,
and the TV channels will sometimes
switch inputs all by itself.
I brought in a certified master inspector --
basically an electrician.
He couldn't find anything with the stuff going on and off.
Interesting.
The most concerning thing was that he can
be physical with the living,
so he may be able to touch you.
I experience that all the time.
It makes me feel like I'm going crazy.
And, like, he specifically...
Like, the master bedroom --
he does like one person in there in particular.
The tall, thin guy, like, messing with you.
I mean, it sounds just like Casey, right?
Who's Casey?
When I met Michelle, her fiancé had passed away
of a freak-accident asthma attack.
Casey was 21 when he died.
I've always, you know, kind of felt him around.
I got a photo of him right here.
It seems to me that it could possibly be him.
I feel, like, guilty that Casey's here.
I feel like it must be, like, my fault somehow.
The weight of it is almost like losing him over again.
You've said this blurry guy can get physical.
We need to talk about some of the issues you're having.
So, I get touched, like, sexually.
I can, like, feel the --
his fingers or hand, like, going down my stomach.
Tell her about the other stuff --
the scratching, the bruising.
Yeah. I can be sitting in my bed,
feel, like, a burn,
and I'd go to the mirror, and there'll be a scratch.
I got a couple of pictures she gave me.
Is Casey doing this?
No, it's somebody else.
All right. So, what else did you see?
So, when I was downstairs in the basement,
I could see that there were a lot of dead people,
and they were trapped.
So, I don't know when, but at some point,
somebody collected --
somehow collected or captured all these dead people.
It's like a box, in a clear box,
and I can see these dead people are wanting out.
Now, Matt, you've had a weird thing going on in the basement.
Yeah. When I'm going up the stairs,
I feel like I'm, like, getting pulled back down the stairs.
I don't know what it is.
Now, is that caused by the dead people downstairs?
Yeah.
I had a sketch done of what I saw in the basement.
It's pretty creepy.
Holy crap.
I hate that room.
I've always hated that room.
It feels like it's a crowded room,
and I thought I was nuts.
I get that feeling, too -- kind of a creeped-out vibe.
Honestly, I'm just kind of shook right now.
When I went outside,
I encountered four different women,
and they had each been murdered.
They were all white.
They all seemed to be between the ages of 20 and 35.
They were killed by a stalker
in a very similar manner.
They were all raped and murdered and dumped,
and all of this happened over a span
of approximately 10 years.
When I saw these women,
they were coming out of the ground
to come into the house.
A lot of things she's talking about reminds me of a guy
I came across in my research.
His name was Jake Bird.
I've got a photo of him right here.
Now, if Jake did half of what he claimed,
he was probably one of the most prolific serial killers
in U.S. history.
He was active in this neighborhood back in the 1940s.
On June 24, 1942, he murdered a 35-year-old spinster
named Alta Fulkerson right down the road from here.
Holy ****.
I got a picture of her here.
Now, Bird's M.O. was exactly what you described.
He raped Fulkerson, dragged her out of the house,
and bashed her head in with a rock.
Now, to try to get out of the death penalty,
Bird started confessing to all these other crimes.
Now, he claimed to have killed 44 people.
Cops were able to confirm 12 of them,
including Alta's murder.
Now, here's the crazy part about the story.
Before Bird went to the gallows, he put a curse on the people
that were involved in his conviction.
He said all the people who were involved in it
would die before he did.
Now, believe it or not, within two months,
four of the officials he put the hex on died,
including the prosecutor,
the lieutenant who got his confession, and the judge.
Holy ****.
All of these guys died of a heart attack.
Now, is it possible the women you saw were Bird's victims?
Well, yeah.
Now, you said these women were trying to get into the house.
Any reason why they would want to get in the house?
Basically, there's a sensitive in the house.
That's why they're coming
and trying to communicate.
It could come in dreams,
making connections with these deceased people.
Well, let's talk about your dreams.
I see a lot of horrible things.
I've seen, like, murders.
You had some really horrific dreams involving your kids.
Yeah, I get really bad nightmares about them.
I've seen them...
I've seen them drowned. I've seen them stabbed.
I've seen them kill themselves.
And...
they're the most important thing in my life,
and it's just been torture.
Well, it's a silly question,
but is Michelle possibly the sensitive
you're talking about?
Yeah.
Am I bringing people to me?
Yeah, that's kind of how it goes, you know.
So, like, you're like this thing
that they can see and help them.
Okay. Or that they can **** with,
especially when you fit this type.
So you're talking about you think Jake Bird might be here.
Yes.
I feel like he's the one who is tormenting you.
The sexual attacks that she's having --
is that Bird?
Yeah.
So, I would think that he would torture you,
molest you until he gets bored,
and then would probably more than likely try to kill you.
Scary, you know.
Part of me just doesn't want to believe it.
I'm also concerned about what I saw him doing
in a child's bedroom upstairs.
I believe it was the room to the left.
Evelyn's room.
I walked in there, and I just felt horrible,
and I got that the living child was getting sick --
stomach issues as well as exhaustion.
She gets hit with a draft and, you know,
high fever or vomiting all the time.
And her getting sick -- is that because of him?
Yes.
So, I'm watching all of this, and then I saw a male,
and he was falling to his knees
and praying at the side of the bed,
and I see the male, like, transform into this,
like, monster.
This monster could become abusive toward the living.
So what exactly does this monster look like?
I had a sketch done.
Holy ****.
I'm, like, so angry. I'm, like, shaking.
I'm very worried about anyone being here at all.
So, Michelle, Matt, you guys got
a hell of a lot of information tonight,
and I know it wasn't easy to hear.
The good news is, you're not crazy,
and now we know what's been causing you
and your kids to live in hell here.
What we don't know yet is whether or not you can fix it
so that you guys can get your life back together
and raise your kids here in a normal manner.
For that answer, I'm gonna turn it over to Amy.
So, the first thing that I would like
for you to deal with would be him.
This needs to be done via a voodoo priest or priestess.
What they're going to do is suck him up
and take him with them.
So, the second thing that needs to be done
is a male medium between the ages of 20 and 30 years old
and specifically gentle in nature --
he needs to come here and talk to Casey.
Now, what they're going to try to do
is connect with other people that Casey has lost
to come and retrieve him
and then try to guide him over with them.
The third thing that I would like you to do
is to connect with a psychic who's a female
and have her come in and move on the dead
who are trapped in the basement.
Now, what about the guy praying over the bed
who turns into a monster?
That's an aspect of the killer.
It will go with him.
I can't wait to destroy this dude.
So, the ultimate question is,
are you gonna listen to what Amy tells you you got to do?
Hands down.
What about you?
Yeah, 100% down to do
everything that she suggested.
This is a pretty good scenario as far as a fix.
It gives me so much hope,
so much more confidence moving forward.
So grateful for you guys, absolutely.
So grateful.
I really hope Michelle and Matt
follow all of my advice.
If they do, they'll be able to live peacefully in their house,
and most importantly, so will their children.
We just wanted to give you guys an update
on all of our progress.
We followed all of Amy's advice,
and all of the negative activity in the house
has come to a complete stop.
We had a voodoo priest and his team come out.
They performed a pretty amazing ceremony.
Evelyn hasn't been sick once in the last two months.
Before, it felt like we were walking into
somebody else's house, and now it feels like our home.
Thank you guys so much.
We would not be where we are right now without you.
