We are back on Cobbossee Lake.

Time to do my family
camp, my brother's camp.

It's probably the smallest
camp we've worked on yet.

Oh my God.

It's nasty.

We spent the day
demoing, and that place

was nastier then we thought.

It's going to have to come down.

All those dust clouds mean
there's a lot of dry rot.

I feel better and better
about this every minute

we're watching it.

The outside of this camp is
fabulous, it's weather-tight,

it's gorgeous.

Everything's brand new.

I think I see them.

Three, two, one, look!

Oh my god!

best friends and we love it.

Today is my day.

We are back on Cobbossee Lake.

Time to do my family
camp, my brother's camp.

It's probably the smallest
camp we've worked on yet,

but it's definitely on the
smallest piece of property yet.

We're on the beautiful
Cobbossee Lake.

You know, our home lake.

We love it here
and it's about time

we got to this little shack.

ASHLEY: How'd you end up
with this tiny little boat?

This camp is small and on
the smallest piece of property,

so I thought we'd bring
a small, stubby boat.

It's kind of short and
stocky and stubby, kind

of like myself.

So the boat is small
just like the camp?

CHASE: Yeah.

Hey!

Hey, you made it!

- Hey, guys.
- Hey, Rhett.

Hey, Caroline. Hey, Corb.

RYAN: I'm waving for Chase.

We are the Eldridge's, and
we're in Manchester, Maine.

How did you get him
to do all the work?

- I don't know.
- Is this like a romantic ride?

I should be wearing
a striped shirt.

RHETT: My brother and
I grew up on the lake.

When my grandparents passed
away, this camp came for sale

and we took the
opportunity to jump on it.

All right.

Now we're super excited
for you to be here.

Yeah.

See, I told you we'd
make it someday, right?

Yeah.

[interposing voices]

Let's go check it out.

It definitely needs some love.

She definitely needs some love.

RYAN: She's little.

Needs all kinds of love.

CAROLINE: Teeny tiny.

CHASE: Let's hear what
you guys envision.

RHETT: OK.

CAROLINE: Well, let's
start with the parking.

The parking is falling
down and eroding,

and it would be nice
to have more than two

parking spaces, if possible.

And we know erosion, right?
That's another big one.

CAROLINE: Yes.
RHETT: Erosion, right.

CAROLINE: We're hoping
that the parking area

might fix some of that problem.

What's most important to me is
that I have a space that I can

entertain lots of people and
have lots of places for people

to sleep, even if it's one
room with lots of beds.

- All right.
- Perfect.

CHASE: That's easy.

What do you guys want?

I would like a loft to hang out.

A loft?

Because there's not
much space to hang out.

I would love, you know, windows.

But obviously you get
a lot of afternoon sun,

so you do need some shade.

But it'd be nice to have
a lot of natural light.

Sounds like, you know
there's a lot of infrastructure

that needs to go into place.

Just, you know, deal
with the parking,

to deal with the erosion,
get it on a good base

to build up to,
you know, make it

able to support an
expansion that's

going to let more light in.

Lost space.

Sleeping space.

Bring it all in, Chase.

CHASE: Yeah, be able
to use the place.

You'll work your magic.

CHASE: All right.

So now that we've got a good
idea of what you're looking

for, what is the
budget that we have

to work with on this project?

55,000.

Yeah.

Listen, if it goes
over that, talk to him.

Right, right, right.

It's going to take a long time,

so I'm thinking at
least three months.

You know, I think realistically

$55,000 will go a long
way to getting this done.

It's good that you've
got an open timeline

so that, you know, helps
keep the budget down.

It all sounds good.

We just need the keys.

ASHLEY: All right.

CHASE: All right.

RHETT: Thank you, sir.

I told Rhett last
year, the last time

I slept here last summer that
I would never sleep here again

until the camp was redone.

So I think they took
me pretty seriously.

RYAN: It looks smaller
with nothing in it.

ASHLEY: I think it looks
bigger with nothing in it.

But this is...

Oh, no.

Chase, you've been here
a couple of times, right?

This place is a dump.

It's a dump.

CHASE: You lived in this?

RYAN: Actually, I did live
here for a little bit.

CHASE: I'm just kidding.

It's great.

No, it needs...

I mean, it serves its purpose,
getting us on the water.

I mean obviously
all this must go.

There's not much to
it, though, is there?

It's a total gut.

Yeah, it's a total gut.

We've got to get in
here and get it gutted,

get it down to the
original frame,

and see what we're working with.

On the exterior of the camp,
if the foundation and supports

can hold the new additions,
we plan on raising the roof

and putting a new
addition on the side

where the bathroom and the
small deck originally were.

Family asked for a
new retaining wall

to help hold back any
run off from the road,

and also a loft area for
extra sleeping for the kids.

RYAN: We didn't cook one meal
in that kitchen in eight years.

You can never have two
people in here at once.

The bathroom is just a toilet.

RYAN: I did the
volume calculations.

This can go up about
14 feet in the front

and have a 10 foot ceiling
in the back of the shed roof.

And there's a little more
leeway there, so we could

do a different pitch, too.

So we can't open it up
and make it feel better.

Part of the reason
everyone's asked

like, why didn't you do
your camp before, it's

because we weren't ready.

You know, this is a logistical
nightmare, this camp.

The build's the easy
part of this one.

We get a dumpster in here,
we call the guys, gut it.

Then we got to jack
it up, foundation.

That's a lot that
needs to happen.

Then we reframe it.

Then we start putting
it back together.

I'm way far out on this project.

Yeah. A way's away.

No, you're not. You're here.

This is your camp,
you're building.

You don't get to stay
away on this one.

Oh yeah, now it's my camp.

A second ago it was...

Well, no, it's not like the
headquarters where you got

to stay away the entire time.

All right, let's go.

On the inside of
the outdoor camp,

our plan is to
have an open living

space, a bathroom, kitchen.

Downstairs, have more living
space and a small bedroom.

That was a one second tour.

CHASE: You got a lot of
homework to do, both of you.

ASHLEY: Yeah.
RYAN: He's talking to you.

CHASE: Both of you.
- Wait.

I'll start making calls.

All right, sounds good.

All three of us.

You need to get a dumpster
so I can throw you in it.

[music playing]

RYAN: Great day today.

My buddy Harry is coming over.

They got four huge trees
they got to take down.

They need a landing zone.

Normally they have a huge zone.

They have 8 square feet.

Had to get flaggers in there,
but he's doing us a huge favor

even taking this project.

We had to do a
huge retainer wall

and backfill it before
we could even have

a spot to put materials in.

Next Monday when we
have the dumpster there,

we're going to have to get there
early, two guys early there,

to help back the dumpster in.

There's no way to know.

If not, we're gonna
have to put them down

the road to a staging area.

So it just adds more
money and more money.

This might be the smallest
camp we've ever done,

but it's not nearly
the smallest budget.

CHASE: Biggest crew
for the smallest cabin.

DIXIE: I know, it's great.

It won't take long.

CHASE: We got an army.

I know.

This place is getting
a major overhaul.

Camp's being lifted
up, new foundation

underneath, new retaining
walls across the whole thing.

So our part of the job today
is just to get it gutted,

stripped back so we see
what we're working with.

One of the smaller
camps we're doing,

but it's definitely
one of the worst yet.

So take it apart like
it was put together?

So the last thing that
went on was the base molding.

Sparklers.

One of these would
just do the job for us.

It smelled so horrible in there.

Yeah.

I got a bad feeling
about this ceiling.

Oh my gosh.

Nasty.

I just got to cut
the toilet pipe.

Almost there.

I'm appalled that Ryan
would live in such squalor.

RYAN: Oh, gross.

CHASE: That's a
lot of mouse pee.

RYAN: So disgusting.

[music playing]

Plumbing should be cut.

Yuck.

CHASE: Yuck is right.

Doug's on another
job at the moment.

But I guess it all goes downhill
when it's the family camp.

We're at the family
camp on a Monday.

Did you cut that
steam pipe underneath?

Yeah.

So I can cut it in here?

Yeah.

RYAN: This place is disgusting.

The weather's disgusting.

But everybody's
attitude is awesome,

so what more can you ask for?

This is exciting.

Squalor, I tell you.

Squalor.

JEDI: See how many
squirrels have been living?

They were in the ceilings, the
walls, the floors, the windows,

the cabinets, the couches.

Squirrels made their way
underneath the kitchen sink,

but they kept the dishes clean,
so that was a good thing.

This is one of the grosser
camps I've seen in a long time.

My eyes!

Don't tilt it
towards you too much.

It's a real crappy job.

Nasty.

Ash, Chase told me
to bring this to you.

I'm all set.

I don't want anything
that Chase has to give me.

Bring it right back to Chase.
- No, it's fine.

We knew the camp was small.

We didn't know the camp
was tiny and infested.

ASHLEY: Don't kill him.

CHASE: Oh, there he is.

ASHLEY: Oh, let me see him.

JEDI: Don't run up my
boot, little buddy.

DIXIE: Go, get out of here!
ASHLEY: I want to see him.

DIXIE: It is in
really bad shape.

It's got a lot of mice,
squirrels, all kinds of stuff.

So we'll get it torn
apart and see how we

can put it all back together.

RYAN: Normally we just go in
and we see how it's built and go

with the cards we're played.

You know, here we have a plan.

So the way the camp's
designed, Chase and I

decided we're going to
tear this hole end off,

it's going to come up
to a full foundation.

So by taking this
addition off, we're

going to be able to square
it up better and start fresh.

ASHLEY: Tear it right
down to the ground.

Oh, yeah.

Nice swing, buddy.

RYAN: That was quick.

Boom.

All kinds of creepy crawlies
coming out of this place.

CHASE: This place just
gets worse and worse.

DIXIE: Is that just rot, or?

That's either dry
rot or powderpost.

Powderpost beetles.

CHASE: We ran into
just about everything.

Carpenter ants, powderpost
beetles, mice, squirrels,

rot, nasty insulation.

This place has everything
you don't want.

I'm starting to think
that we may have

to tear this whole place down.

We'll have the building
inspector come out

and take a look at it, but it's
looking more and more like it's

going to need to come down.

JEDI: It's like most places
we go to, these camp owners,

they're not really demoing
anything beforehand.

They're just adding on,
covering it up, covering it up.

It just traps all that
nastiness in over the years.

Got to get it out, got to
strip it down to bare bones.

Oh, this is so heavy, Dixie.

I'm so strong, honey.

Roar!

You're supposed to
be pretending with me.

You're rot strong.

I know.

She can bench press
at least 16 ounces.

We've got to figure
out who's going

to have to call the
homeowner and say

the budget is going
to be tripled,

because this thing's
got to come down.

This place is horrible.

So this is one of the old boards

that I pulled off
the Eldridge Camp.

And cribbage is
huge in our family,

and I know that
the Eldridge boys

love, love, love
to play cribbage,

especially with their grampy.

So cribbage is a pretty
really popular, popular game,

and I actually had somebody
make this one for me.

So this cribbage board,
you know, you take the pegs

and you just, you know,
go around the board

and then you win.

So a cribbage board is
technically a scoring

board for a card game.

So what I did was I
had a template made up.

So I took the old board
from Eldridge Camp

and I thought it would
be really cool if I

made a cribbage board for them.

What I'm going to
do next is I'm going

to mark each and every one of
these holes out with a pencil.

And then I will come in and
drill each and e very hole out.

Ryan and I have a
running game of cribbage.

I'm not even sure
where we're at.

And then I also have a running
game with a friend of mine,

and we left our
score on the beams,

but Ryan didn't want us to.

So we did it in a
hidden place and he

still hasn't found it yet.

RYAN: I heard that.

Heard what?

Our all time score?

RYAN: Yeah.

Are you here to help me?

Hey, my brother's
coming over for a minute.

Your brother's coming?

This is for their camp.
- OK.

I'm going to make
it a cribbage board.

Oh, cool.

Why's Rhett coming here?

That camp's pretty
much going to come down.

It's not worth...

It's so bad.

It's not worth saving it.

It was really bad, like,
to come down to the ground?

Yeah.

Better ask him if
he has any money.

RYAN: We're in the second
week at my brother's camp.

I just got off on with Chase
and we came to the conclusion

that the place has to come down.

It's going to make the best
sense of put on a foundation

and then go from there.

There's nothing more to say.

Ash is inside doing
some special projects.

My brother's on his way out
right now to go over it,

so I'm in the shed
waiting for him.

Brother, what's up?
- Hey, what's up, buddy?

How's it going?
- Nice to see you.

Oh, you know.

Just thought I'd
stop and say hi.

I know you told me to come out,
you had some news on the camp.

Spent a day demoing,
and that place

was nastier than we thought.

Which is not surprising.

The worst camp we ever demoed.

So we talked to the
town, talked to Chase,

you know, ran some numbers.

And we're... it's going
to have to come down.

What was left wasn't
worth jacking up

to be honest with you,
spending that money, so.

We'll put a new camp on a new
foundation and go from there.

RHETT: You know, obviously
that affects the budget.

So is there going
to be more money

or does that mean
we're going to do less?

RYAN: I don't think we
need to ask for more money.

I think I'm going to call
in a bunch of favors.

We have some cool ideas.

You'll be happy.

RHETT: All right, that works.

Well, if you don't need any
more money, I'm out of here.

RYAN: All right.

The whole property is
going to get transformed.

It's one of the hardest
pieces of property

we've ever worked on.
There's no room.

Things are going to take longer.

But we can transform
that whole lot

into something that's usable,
not just indoor and outdoor,

and for parking for people
to enjoy the lake as well.

We got permission to
take the camp down.

It has to go
exactly where it is.

So we have to triangulate each
point off two known points.

When those measurements come
in, we know that's where

the corner has got to go.

We have 60 inches right there.

It's actually a little
bit below the floor,

but 60 inches plus the
36 we're allowed to go

will give us a full basement.

CHASE: Awesome.

We're good, buddy.

Code enforcement
offices said we have

permission to tear it down.

It has to go right where it is.

We're going to keep
the same footprint

and we can go a
bit more volume up.

So it makes more
sense to tear it down.

It's kind of bittersweet.

I feel better
about this already,

because all those dust clouds
mean there's a lot of dry rot.

All those big
beams were rotting,

so the more dust
clouds kind of there

indicates that we would have
had a lot more sill work to do.

So I feel better and better
about this every minute

we're watching it.

Now the camp has been
torn down, next step

is to get the excavator in
here and prep for the retaining

wall and the foundation.

I knew from the
beginning I was going

to have to call in some favors
to get around that budget

on my brother's camp.

Haley Concrete offer to
help us with the concrete,

and Ready Rock offered to help
us with the retaining wall.

But I had to get my
hands dirty and come

visit the guys up here.

So this is where the
whole process starts?

This is where it
starts right here.

RYAN: And it starts
with concrete?

WAYNE: That's right.

RYAN: It's going to from
that to a beautiful block.

WAYNE: That's right.

So by the end of the day, we're

going to have made 30 yards
of concrete and over 140

blocks for this project.

I was having so
much fun I decided

to stick around the rest of
the day and do some more work.

I did everything today.

I hauled concrete, formed
blocks, smoothed concrete out.

I even pushed buttons to get wet
concrete into a concrete truck

and off to a job site.

Overall, I really learned a lot
today, met some great people,

home with a new retaining

wall for my brother's camp.

at the Eldridge Camp.

Still working on the foundation.

Today they are doing everything
to get ready to pour the floor.

We had hoped to, you
know, get in here

and get this camp
going right away,

but the foundation is
a lot more complicated.

Because it's so
close to the road,

once you start pouring the
cement it's go, go, go.

And I mean, you just
got to work hard,

push hard, get it
secreted across,

leveled out nice and smooth.

I think the timeline
on this camp

has definitely been pushed back.

You know, we'll get in
here as soon as we can

but, you know, it was
the right decision.

It will save money
in the long run,

but now we're really
starting from the ground up.

RYAN: It's the start of week
three at the Eldridge Camp

and we had a busy, busy weekend.

Cory is now ready
to start working

on the back retaining
wall, so he asked

that we cap this foundation.

So I had a group of guys
who worked all weekend

to get this thing done.

Things are really starting
to take shape around here.

All the earth works around
the lakeside is done.

Costing, you know,
the family more money

to put the big
retaining wall in.

We love Cobbossee Lake.

It's my most
favorite lake and I'm

really concerned about all the
salt and road sand going there.

So we put a lot
of time and effort

to find the best solution there.

In the long run it's going to
be less materials in the lake

and it's going to be a heck of
a lot easier cleaning this yard.

We got this all
done, ready to go.

First floor system's ready
for the second story.

You come around
here, Cory is now

ready to start working on
the back retaining wall

so we have a place
to park and a place

we can put our materials on.

These are the ready
rocks that I helped make

up at the concrete factory.

They look really cool.

Right now they treated them.

That will lighten up.

You can see the colors
will come through,

but they do treat them with
a spray so they don't rust

or rot or anything like that.

So our friends at Ready Scapes
and Fowler's Construction

finished the wall
this past week.

Guys are putting
together the firepit.

It's week five.

We're kind of over timeline and
running out of good weather,

so we've got to get
framed as fast as we can.

So it's a big week here.

Hopefully this thing's
small, we'll frame up quick,

and we can catch up.

DIXIE: Now that we've got a
new foundation and this new

build, we are doing wraparound
floor to ceiling windows,

new siding, also an open loft
area upstairs for the kids,

with a bedroom downstairs
and open up doors

that walk out onto the water.

- What's wrong with that?
- Nothing.

RYAN: You're only going to
have a window in the bathroom.

- OK.
- Hey, what's going on, bud?

going to focus on getting

the exterior walls framed up.

We know the window sizes,
we know the layout,

we know the wall height.

So we just need to start cutting
studs and put it together.

This has been a
tough job, you know.

More than half the time
has been spent on earth

work and then half the budget.

Probably more than
half the budget.

So I was coming over to help
put up some of these walls

with them, and I pulled
in and it's pouring rain.

I'm not prepared for rain.

We've been here
half a morning and

the guys have got two walls up.

I wasn't so nervous when I was
getting the construction done

in that time, but
definitely worried about not

eating up all the budget.

So, you know, the next three
weeks we can definitely

get this place weather tight.

Doors, windows, roof.

Have it looking great, you know.

The inside will have to maybe
take a little bit longer time.

But, you know, time
you can make up for.

Because it's only
a 21 by 20 gambit.

at the Eldridge Camp.

a higher level

of attention paid to detail.

RYAN: Three walls.

schedule, back on the budget.

This camp is definitely not
going to be done under budget.

there's a back wall.

back on schedule, right?

We knew it was going
to be like that.

We knew excavation was going
to take half the timeline

and more than half the budget.

RYAN: This week started
with a rain storm

but we got a lot done yesterday,
and there's a snowstorm

coming at the end of the week.

Welcome to late fall in Maine.

Sunny today, rainy
yesterday, snow on Friday.

We got a maze.

We're never gonna
get out of this maze.

Never get out of this maze.

We are cruising
through week five.

Neil and Jake are putting
up sheeting boards,

and it's starting to
look like something.

You really need a man with a
slow hand and a smooth touch

to do that.

Dixie and I are
working on getting

the second story loft together.

We have some brackets I bought
off a friend down the road.

They're a little bit smaller
than the end of the wood,

so we just, you know, scarf
them out a little bit,

get everything nice and flush.

By tomorrow, we'll have
the second story loft in

and we'll be putting a ridge
bowl up before you know it.

You save a lot of money
with this rough cut lumber.

So it's not perfect, so you
know we have a difference here.

So we will have to go through
with our power planers.

That's what they call those now.

And, you know, we'll just kind
of knock some of the stuff off.

So we'll go through
just make sure these are

all... not necessarily perfect.
Just close.

Because you don't
really see them.

But that right there might roll.

And again, it really
depends on how

it lands, but, you know,
rough cut saves money,

but you just got to...

There's a couple of things
you've got to check.

I like the look.

I like the chunky look.

Neil and Jake are sheathing.

Dixie and I got the
[inaudible] beam

in that's going to
carry the second story

loft, which is pretty small.

And now we're just putting
in the floor system to that.

We love to use two by
six tongue and groove

boards for our loft system.

It really gives you
that great exposure

and shows you the
structure above.

It doubles as your
finished ceiling

and your finished floor on the
loft, so it saves us money.

Four by six rough cut rafters,
two by six tongue and groove,

flooring and sheathing done.

I honestly have
lost track of time.

We're about the end of the
second full week of having

crews working, but it's
probably the seventh or eighth

week of having the job going.

We have two weeks
left to the finish

and we're looking pretty good.

Because the camp is so small,
we just took the liberty to do

a really cool trim detail.

One of my biggest pet peeves
is small overhangs on houses,

so we did a nice big overhangs.

We kind of did a modern
look with a big fascia

and a big soffit, and
it looks so awesome.

The roof is all
black with black trim

and it's got a
natural siding on it.

It's going to pop.

I'm really excited
about this camp

and I think we've all put
a little bit of extra time

and effort and love into it,
and it's really showing already.

We got to get floors in, we
got to get a bathroom in,

we got to get plumbing in.

We got to get all
the windows in.

So it's going to be a race.

Today is a big day here.

The last stretch of
this unbelievable record

setting weather, and we're going
to try to get as much siding

on as we can today.

DIXIE: Now that we
have the framing in,

the next step is to put
the pine on the walls.

We have a bunch of pine outside.

So pretty much we just have
to put a couple of nailers in

and we should be good to go.

Can't wait for them to
install that staircase.

All right, it looks great.

Kyle came in on Saturday,
stained the floor for us.

I have a nice metal frame, so
I'm going to take the chair up

to create a nice seat for it.

Yeah, I'm going to go talk to my
team and see how they're doing,

and I'm excited.

It's looking good.

We're really close, but
we're also really far away.

Today I'm meeting with Kathleen.

She's done canvas work
for us in the past,

and so I think she's the
perfect person to help

me out with this custom chair.

so I know that these guys are

going to do an excellent job.

So we got some rope
hanging out here

and it attaches to
different loop points,

and we also have an
anchor point right here.

ASHLEY: This is so neat.

KATHLEEN: And then
we have two bolsters,

kind of like it has
like cushions in it

so you can sit down and
your legs won't chafe

and you won't bump
your head on the back.

And then possibly,
depending on how it sits,

we could also have some
anchor points in the back.

No, I think it's cool.

And also this might be able
to go outside, too, huh?

Yes.

If we use the right canvas,
it can be outside, too.

Yeah, I never
thought about that.

Caroline is always surrounded
by all kinds of boys.

Eldridge boys are chaotic.

I wanted to do something
custom, a special piece for her

where she can just sit, relax,
and enjoy the new space.

CHASE: It's a windy, chilly
fall day in Manchester

and we are finishing
up the Eldridge Camp.

Shouldn't you be going?

This is a family camp.

We kicked Lance out, we kicked
Dixie out, we kicked Chase out,

we kicked me out.

JEDI: You kicked every
other homeowner out.

Because he's gone
so far over budget,

he has to work for free.

Everybody's looking for a
reason to get Ryan off the job.

I think his brother's
the owner of this camp.

Best fall day in
Manchester, and we are

finishing up the Eldridge Camp.

This camp is just so much better
than from where it started.

We ended up having to
tear it down to the ground

and now, I mean,
everything is brand new.

What's not to like?

A lot of these camps
don't have wells.

You pull off the lake.

Since we put a full
foundation on it,

we just had to put
a sleeve in where

our one-inch pipe comes out of.

So I'm just going to
sleeve this and we'll

pull our pipe down through.

And then you just bring
out the lake in the spray,

pull it back in in the fall.

We are just building
a temporary deck.

It's going to be a free
floating deck, so we're

temporarily suspending it.

We're going to put some
legs down onto our pucks

and our rocks and deck it over.

Just will be a nice,
easy access for the camp.

CHASE: So everything
else in this camp

is pretty much
brand new, so I need

to put something used in here.

So I had an old stainless
steel sink that actually came

out of my grandparents' house.

I just need to build a base
for it to set up the kitchen.

I know that budget is
extremely tight on this camp.

We've stretched the
material as far as we could.

We definitely pulled from
materials at my place

as much as we could.

Ryan definitely kicked in
some of his own private money

to make this happen.

RYAN: We are over budget
and everything else

has come out of my
pocket and we haven't

even really got to the inside.

We're not out of time,
but we are out of money.

The outside of this camp is
fabulous, it's weather tight,

it's gorgeous.

It's got tens of thousands
of dollars of windows.

Everything's brand new.

When we go inside, things
are going to slow down.

At this point, we
are over our budget,

so we've got to get this done
as efficiently as possible.

And if that involves reusing
old sink tops and old scraps

to build the sink base,
that's what they get.

And they're going to love it.

I can't win with
this fire today.

Oh, it looks nice.

And now once I get the
pegs in it, the cards,

and write Eldridge and kind
of sand it down a little,

clean it up a little,
it's going to be great.

I can't wait.

This is the only remaining
board from the original camp.

ASHLEY: Oh, wow.

While we were in
Gray last spring,

couple came down
and said, listen,

we have a spiral
staircase out there free.

One of you should take it.

Never turn down a
free spiral staircase.

This is all free.

I knew the homeowner, so I
could stretch as far as I could.

We are there.

Ashley and I probably threw
another 15,000 to 20,000

towards this, but we use this
camp just as much as they do,

so it's money well spent.

It wasn't tall enough
for these measurements,

so I'm just building a platform.

I got 14 inches I got to make
up from this point, which

represents the last
step, to the concrete.

go get a new broom.

Oh, won't even sweep up a leaf.

Probably the worst broom
I've ever seen in my life.

The last 24 hours, my
team and I came in,

moved in all the furniture, got
it looking absolutely perfect.

And we have a bedroom
downstairs and a sitting

area, a nice dining area.

We have a nice sitting
area upstairs and then

extra sleeping
space in the loft.

So I have my cribbage
board, I have some family

pictures I need to hang up.

After I put up those
pictures, we're ready to go.

I'm excited.

I'll wait over here.

I'm going to figure out
how to fix that picture.

I'll just put a little
thing to hang it up.

I was able to finish
up the cribbage board.

I painted Eldridge on it and got
some nice little pegs for it.

The chair that I had
custom-made for Caroline,

incredible when I first saw it.

It was brand new.

So... this place was gross.

Yeah, I heard it
was the worst ever.

CHASE: We tore into it and we
found just about everything

wrong you could
possibly find, so it

ended coming completely down.

Yeah, so brand new foundation,
brand new retaining wall,

brand new camp.

So it's a naturally stained
eastern white pine clapboard,

rough cut.

Dark trim, white windows.

The windows have glass.

RHETT: It's so open.

I love all the windows.

ASHLEY: Oh, you just wait.

RHETT: The windows
are like amazing.

You guys, go check
out the parking lot.

CORBIN: Sweet.
CAROLINE: Awesome.

Cool little grassy area.

Look how flat it is, even.

The most exciting thing
about the parking for me

is that it's going to
prevent the erosion

from the sand and the winter.

The sand trucks would
dump the sand on the road

and it would all
end up down here

and eventually in the water.

It'll be nice that it
keeps that out of the lake.

You know, we'd have
basically two spots up there

and people were parking
along the side of the road,

so it's a little dangerous.

This will be a little more
comfortable and less stress.

The old camp was horrible.

There was no place to sleep,
there was no place to hang out,

there was no place to cook.

Everything was just very small
and dingy and dark and smelly,

and this place is just
so airy and light.

I will definitely be
spending the night here.

So really open
living space up here,

big windows facing the water.

Kitchen area, bathroom area.

We were able to squeak a
little extra headroom in.

We got a loft space over here.

We got a ladder that, you
know, when you need it.

CORBIN: I did not expect it to
be like a super big loft space.

I was pretty happy to see that
you could fit a good sized bed

up in that loft.

for our family and your family.

believe how much space this is.

what they were able to do

and how much they were able
to get for us in the camp

in just such a small space.
