and decided there was something
that was worth saving.

So she gave me a choice,

jail or the Army.

And every day, I wonder
who I would be

if she didn't give
me that choice.

Now, baby girl,
you are at a age

where you are making choices.

You have to decide who
and what you want to be.

But I want you
to take a look out there.

Look at those girls.
Tell me what most of them

have in common.

I see it.

Now, I know the world
is shifting under your feet.

And you're just expected
to roll with everything.

it's hard.

But the world
is just looking for a reason

to put a young Black girl
like you

on the other side of that fence.

Don't help it along.

Now, about this dress.

for their literacy program.

And I'm thinking about
