ALL CHARACTERS, ORGANIZATIONS, PLACES, AND EVENTS ARE FICTIONAL

EPISODE 9

This is...

I'm at the center of this espionage scheme.

So the person

who'll break the scheme has to be me.

I won't let them control me any longer.

But the person who has it

will be in danger like Sophie

or get killed.

No.

Whoever has this USB thumb drive

can turn the tables around.

SIX HOURS AGO, NATIONAL NUCLEAR FUSION LAB

Yes.

The research was under tight secrecy.

They're not talking.

I think I'll be here all night.

I'll trade shifts when you and Seo-ra arrive later.

Bye.

The weather is fantastic.

So tell me again.

This Nakdong River...

Her nickname is Nakdong River Stone?

-No, it's Daedong River Skipping Stone. -Right.

If she cracks the password...

You won't have time to see me.

You'll be so busy.

This is it.

Hey.

What will you do with the money I gave you?

I'm going to quit my job and go surfing in Miami.

Surfing?

You know how to surf?

My whole life revolves around riding waves.

Your life revolves around riding waves?

What an outlook on life.

FLIGHT TICKET RESERVATION COMPLETE

I received the e-ticket.

Is it working well?

Do I look nice?

Not cool?

I'll get off here.

I can't let the Interpol agents see me with you.

NATIONAL FUSION REACTOR INSTITUTE

NATIONAL FUSION REACTOR INSTITUTE

Hello.

It's quiet in here.

We're not allowed to enter the lab

because it's a top secret facility.

You have to leave your phone with us.

You're not carrying any electronic devices, are you?

Sorry but I have to inspect your bag.

It's clean.

This lens is imprinted with Sophie's retina.

And this is a mold of her fingerprint.

Wait a minute.

Hey.

This lens coating is FGD-UV5.

It produces a lot of glare

and the glass molecules interfere with radio signals.

Imported frames are not always better.

You should try Korean-made lens

made by a guy I know.

You'll get much better video resolution.

Is that so?

Oh, my gosh.

What do I do?

You're smarter than you look.

Shouldn't we follow her?

What is this?

What?

Thank you.

Nice to meet you.

I'm Park Sung-hwan.

This way.

Isn't the weather great?

This way.

The steps are slippery, so be careful.

Our lab is usually not like this.

They're cleaning the place so everything had to be moved.

Hello, there.

Let me give you the full tour.

Have you heard of nuclear fusion?

This is the materials research lab for TBU.

TBU: ENERGY EXCHANGER FOR NUCLEAR FUSION

They're conducting tests right now.

Dr. Lee isn't in.

I was hoping to introduce him to you.

This equipment extracts hydrogen.

Now you need hydrogen...

It's probably better not to explain, right?

This is the main core room.

That is the nuclear fusion reactor

called K-Sun that makes Korea proud.

It's amazing, isn't it?

We've been jointly developing it

with other nations as part of

the EcoSun project.

Oh, and the radioactive risks.

You don't have to worry about it at all.

For 15 years...

So the South Koreans are proud

of this project and what they've accomplished.

Oh, right.

This is the master key.

You'll need it to turn on the power.

When you change the security key, you'll use it then.

Come with me.

You'll go alone from here.

I'll check on you at 12pm.

Good luck.

HEAD RESEARCHER SOPHIE AHN

How did you set this up, Comrade?

Let's crack this code.

I can't see where she is.

What's going on?

Since we don't know what's going on inside,

we'll have to wait.

Yes?

ACCESS DENIED

I can't crack it.

Don't worry.

We'll get our hands on it this time no matter what.

This cute genius hid it quite well.

FINGERPRINT KEY SETUP COMPLETE.

You little...

I think she stored it on a removable device.

I knew it.

This is why I can't be friends with scientists.

They are so sneaky.

-There's one section left to clean, right? -Two sections.

Interpol will want their money back.

And those spies will interrogate me using advanced techniques.

-I'll clean this area. -Let's do it together.

HEAD RESEARCHER SOPHIE AHN

I brought you your lunch.

How's your progress?

How is everything?

Did she go to the restroom?

Where is she?

Hello?

What?

Young-gu!

-She's not with you? -No.

Check all the exits and restrooms.

Yes, sir.

Did you find her?

Are you Mr. Jeon?

It's you!

You're from GV Recruit.

-Yes. -Why haven't you called me?

Did you get my email?

Yes, I got it.

I am drawing from my pension plan, you see.

But the interest rate is high.

So I'll take a loss if I don't pay it back soon.

If I know when I can start the new job,

I can reduce my losses.

I see.

The disinfection team!

Move it!

I wanted to live artistically.

CHEONGJU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Okay.

How did she get away?

How could you let her get away?

She didn't get away.

Why would she even run?

What?

It doesn't make any sense.

We weren't going to prosecute her if she failed in cracking the password.

Why go through the trouble to use a fake passport?

I agree with Ji-hun.

The money we gave her wasn't a lot. Why would she run?

It wasn't a lot?

Chief, how will I get my money back?

Well, Seo-ra.

Didn't you secure a budget to pay for her services?

Well, you see...

I submitted the budget...

But...

Chief!

Did you find her?

She can hack the White House with her phone.

How can I track someone like her?

I told you that we couldn't trust her!

You let her escape.

What were you doing? You were there!

What about the money she took off with?

Goodness!

Who took off with the money?

Whoever got conned must be really upset.

Where is my nuclear fusion tech?

It's so bright.

Let's celebrate with some champagne.

I'm sorry.

We have complications at the lab.

I hired you guys to make sure stuff like this doesn't happen!

Forget it. You need to get cracked with a whip to do your job right.

So I'm going to have to kick you today.

I'm sorry.

You're sorry? About what?

Look, I'm really angry.

Who's going to go first?

You first?

I'm sorry.

Hey!

M CLASSIC CAR

BEAUTIFUL AH-REUM

Yes, honey.

Have you eaten?

Of course.

Then you can't join me for dinner.

I can. I had a light dinner.

What do you want to have?

I should've done it right the first time.

Now I have to sew it back together.

You came very quickly.

I didn't want you to wait so long.

Let's go. What do you want to have?

I'm not having dinner.

You said you wanted to go for dinner.

I'm not the one who is hungry.

I'm going to give you something.

Honey.

Are you

good at betraying people?

Betrayal?

I know you don't like to do it.

But you would do it if you put your mind to it.

How about you try this time?

Betray who?

Betray Helmes and hand them over to Interpol.

It'll be harder than leaving the organization.

But they pulled you into this.

So you need to wise up.

What are you talking about?

Betrayals only work when they catch you by surprise.

I told you that I'd cut off any ties with them.

No.

Cutting them off won't solve the problem.

It's too late.

What's too late?

You still don't realize it?

I don't...

have you in the palm of my hand.

But I know

what's going on up there.

You don't have a choice.

The only way you can become a good husband

is to cooperate with Interpol and find redemption.

I mean you don't want to go to jail, do you?

Of course not. But honey...

I know this world better than you.

You can't trust the police.

I know.

I know that better than you can imagine.

You didn't...

What? You think I reported you?

No, I didn't.

Not yet.

Honey.

It's amazing to sew all these different patterns together to complete a dress.

I have it all in my head.

Fold this edge. Align these lines.

Sewing is my forte.

I have everything planned out in my head.

That's why

you just need to follow my instructions.

If you want to keep our marriage intact.

Either betray Helmes

or betray me.

Honey. You're scaring me now.

I'll give you three days.

Three days.

You decide.

This will be

your last chance.

For me to find out if you're with me or against me.

How is Seo-ra?

Yes, she's probably upset.

Hurry here.

Here's your budae-jjigae for you.

Looks delicious.

Business is booming for you.

All the customers seem to be here.

You can buy a franchise.

I don't have any money.

You asked me about Yoon-seok's whereabouts once, right?

-Yes. -He opened his own private eye service.

I got in touch with him.

He does sting operations on cheating wives in LA.

He's making good money.

I just remembered.

Where are your kids and wife living?

They're probably in the same neighborhood.

-Yes. -How is your wife doing?

She's fine.

Whenever I call her, she worries about my health.

Here's a picture.

I think they add growth hormones to the tap water in LA.

My kids have grown so tall.

-Hello. -Welcome.

They give big servings here.

They know how to satisfy customers.

I love budae-jjigae.

I'm famished.

Seo-ra is upset, isn't she?

I'm more upset than she is.

If I didn't have college loans to pay back, I would help her out.

What if we never get the budget?

Then we'll have to take on second jobs to pay her back.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is furious.

They say that Sophie's research will fall into America's hands.

Where do you think the hacker got foiled?

I think she located the files.

But I have a feeling that the key is in a different location.

-Cheers! -Clink!

You're still on the job.

I don't recall getting off work.

Nor do I recall when I started the workday.

It's just nonstop working.

So when do I get to have a drink?

Now.

Oh, brother.

Who's texting you?

Someone who always interrupts me when I have a drink.

Go see her.

-Good night. -Okay.

QUICK SERVICE

What's the urgent matter?

Isn't it obvious? I'm an informant.

I've got information.

The men who come to my wedding shop

shower praises on their brides.

They can't contain themselves.

Now you're going to be surprised.

A lot.

But there'll be one difference from those men and you.

You'll be surprised

and upset.

Is it about your husband?

DELETE

You knew all along?

Yes.

You were waiting for me to tell you?

Your choice of men is so...

Predictable.

I keep marrying men who lie to me.

Since when did you know?

That he was a spy?

I had a hunch,

but it took time to find proof.

He doesn't know that you know, does he?

-I told him. -Hey!

Wait a minute.

He knows that you know he's a spy?

I didn't mention you.

But I'm going to tell him soon.

I'm going to bring in Derek.

In exchange for helping you bring down Helmes.

-Help me out. -You're being very nonchalant about this.

It's not a walk in the park.

You were trying to help Sophie leave Helmes.

-So help Derek. -Hey.

You're taking his side?

Even after you know his true identity?

He lied to you.

-You did, too. -That's different.

He's still my husband.

He's a con artist.

If that's all he is, it's a relief.

If he were born during the Japanese Occupation,

-he would have sold out our nation. -No.

I'm sure I betrayed my country in my previous life.

It explains why I'm suffering like this.

I keep marrying the wrong guys.

So why on earth

did you marry him?

CERTIFICATION FOR EXECUTIVE MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Why can't you divorce him?

Are you not afraid of what he's capable of doing?

I know.

I get so angry

when I think about how he lied to me. It's unbelievable.

However,

I thought about it long and hard.

Is my marriage worth fighting for?

You're right.

There wasn't anything to salvage.

But Derek...

He's not evil.

When I remarried, I made a promise to myself.

I would marry him for who he is and not for love.

Even if you marry someone you love,

you'll end up living with someone you hardly know.

I experienced that once already.

This time, I made a vow

to really get to know my husband

even if it would take a long time.

Of course,

this situation is shocking and way out of control.

But I still want to give it a try.

If getting to know someone is harder than loving someone,

then I'm going to see this through.

Even though he's a bad husband.

People don't change.

You said that.

Yes.

People don't change.

But

they do change once.

When they fall in love.

I believe it

when Derek tells me he loves me.

So he'll eventually change.

You don't know anything.

Guys like him

can never change!

-You could be right. -What? I could be right?

So?

What are you going to accomplish by arresting Derek?

I'm proposing that we use Derek as bait to catch bigger fish.

You've become a fisherman now?

I'm your informant.

So it matters to me that my information is useful.

You need to be rational.

You didn't come this far to catch small fish, right?

I gave you too much free rein.

I grew up.

AREUMDAUN DRESS

Why isn't anybody around?

Ah-reum!

You surprise me.

Love is clouding your judgment.

When it comes to love,

I know a little about it.

No matter how passionate your love is,

it vanishes once the passion dies down.

You think I'm doing this solely out of love?

I'm running into the eye of the hurricane

to protect my family.

Derek is my husband.

So you're making sacrifices for your family's sake?

No. I can't give up because he's my family.

Through tears, pain, and financial woes,

you can't give up on your family.

Derek is...

not normal right now.

I'm not giving up on him.

I'm his wife.

I need your help.

Like the way you helped Sophie.

Derek needs a chance to start a new life.

I'm pleading with you.

I know it's a difficult favor to ask.

But this is the only way out.

You know this better than I do.

Ah-reum.

Doo-lae.

Ji-hun. What are you doing here?

What?

Don't touch it.

Doo-lae, don't touch the glass.

Leave it alone.

I'll bring a broom.

Ji-hun, stay still.

Oh, my!

What's wrong?

What happened?

Don't move.

Stay right there.

-Be careful. -Okay.

Lift your foot.

That's a pretty pose.

You look like a ballerina.

Hey, my leg is getting tired.

Hold on.

Sit on my back.

Lift both of your legs.

This is comfy.

My back is sturdy, isn't it?

Go slice up some watermelon.

-You missed that. -Where?

Here.

Did I get them all?

I told you to stay still.

It could have been worse.

If I had cut my finger, I wouldn't be able to sew.

I'll do all the sewing today.

Don't you need to finish washing your hair first?

AREUMDAUN DRESS

PART 2 WILL SHORTLY BEGIN.

DONGPOOMLOO

DONGPOOMLOO

Yeah. I came to check on Doo-bong.

I lost my savings and my health, but I have to work.

I'll report back later.

She's honey-potting you.

What kind of girl comes alone to have spicy noodles?

Was she wearing a tiny red dress?

Tell him that you think she's honey-potting him.

No way. He'll kill me.

Doo-bong.

What's wrong?

Where's your watch?

Jenny, they say that luck and misfortune come at once.

Just when I meet you, the one bright light in my life...

Tell me what happened.

A partner I trusted more than anyone else...

Oh, my. Poor guys shouldn't partner up...

Sorry.

You shouldn't partner with a friend.

I knew him since we were kids.

We'd share an ice cream together.

I trusted him so much.

But he...

He already left the country with my money.

You can't sit around like this then.

Put a warrant out so that he can't leave.

Oh, he already left the country.

He probably fled to a Southeast Asian country.

It's so obvious.

Put him on the Interpol wanted list.

Most scammers will go to the beach after pulling a scam.

You'll find them holed up in motels in Busan and Gangneung.

The guys with big balls run away to Southeast Asia.

I pawned my watch.

This is so sad.

I'm not really sad about my watch.

But I can no longer give you anything.

How can I keep seeing you without any money?

You don't have to come anymore.

Jenny, this is a knockoff.

When you're wearing it, it's authentic.

I'll bring you some zha cai.

Men need to have enough money in his pocket.

Don't lose confidence.

It doesn't suit you.

Hey...

Have you ever seen a honeypot give a guy money?

When will you ever get smart?

INVESTIGATION RECORDS, DEREK HYUN

We're going to start all over.

The target is Helmes. Just focus on them.

We just need to catch one of their agents!

Why does it have to be him?

I'm going to bring in Derek.

In exchange for helping you bring down Helmes.

Help me out.

No. Not him.

No!

What do you need me to do?

We want to bring

the whole organization down including the boss.

Nobody knows

if the boss is a man or woman,

individual or group,

human or machine.

What about the hotline?

I don't get to use it.

Find another CIA agent that they have on their side.

There has to be another agent besides Harrison Young.

What about my safety?

Helmes has informers everywhere among the police.

What if Helmes finds out

that I'm helping you?

Our team is tight-lipped.

I heard that Helmes infiltrated Interpol's Asia office.

Is that true?

Find out who that officer is.

I can't guarantee I can do it.

Helmes is also on the move.

We need you to confirm

information that we collected about Helmes.

I will protect your safety until the very end.

Helmes won't be suspicious of you.

I'll catch the guy

who killed Sophie no matter what.

This is where we'll meet from now on.

I'll call you.

You told me that you had to protect someone.

Hope you do that.

Ah-reum.

You're waiting for my answer, right?

Yes.

I have something to ask you first.

Go ahead.

Do you really believe

that people change?

If I had told you

that I was an Interpol agent

and would change for you,

would you have believed me?

I wanted to quit Interpol.

It was

our wedding anniversary day.

Leaving Ah-reum behind,

I caught my flight and made a decision.

I would make a choice.

My choice would be Ah-reum.

No, you wouldn't have changed.

Why do you think so?

I was going to change.

I had made up my mind.

You don't believe I could change, but you trust him?

Why?

Why do you trust him?

They say love is all about timing.

I think a person needs to have good timing.

I didn't imagine that you could ever change.

It's not you.

It's me.

I wasn't mature enough.

I'm a different person now.

I turned into someone who can wait and be patient.

But that's for someone else, not you.

I did

learn from our marriage

to become a more mature person.

I'm sorry

I learned it later instead of back then.

If you feel sorry...

There's a way you can stop feeling sorry.

I think we're living on separate timelines.

The person you wanted

and the person I wanted...

We realized that at different timelines.

So we can't be together.

I have one last question for you.

If this choice

is not for Derek's sake

but for your own sake,

then I'll help you.

If you ignore your feelings

for his sake,

you could pay

a hefty price later on.

That scares me.

I know this dumb guy

who regrets pretending to be aloof

for the sake of his then wife.

So think about it carefully.

I'm doing this for myself.

For my own happiness.

Fine.

Could you tell this to that dumb guy?

He can

stop regretting.

Derek has a meeting at the Children's Museum.

The ceremony will be held at the Ministry's reception hall.

Our Vice Minister will host the event.

We'll have many students attending during the UN delegation's visit.

Volunteers and staff from other divisions

will help out with the event.

How can he smile like that?

He's got no conscience but he acts like he's as clean as a whistle.

Why are you following me? It's uncomfortable.

I thought you still had feelings for my wife.

But it seems like they were for me.

Ah-reum and I like the same things.

Why do you both have such high standards?

I have no idea.

I wonder why I want to engage in an illicit friendship with you.

You can't touch this.

You're barking up the wrong tree.

Why are you on my back?

Ah-reum called me

a few days ago.

She said she had a problem.

You can't fool me.

You're not easily fooled.

Hey.

You said a necktie was a sort of weapon.

To use to hang yourself with?

Don't you feel insecure to wear a tie like that?

You look insecure whenever I see you.

You don't know what a weapon is used for?

It's used to kill someone like you.

I can do it with my bare hands.

But that would get my hands dirty.

Bin! That's dangerous!

No, don't!

Oh, no!

Yes!

-Thank you so much. -My ball.

-Are you okay? -My ball.

-Your ball? -My ball.

My ball.

My ball.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

Where's my wallet?

Did you lose your wallet?

Oh, is that it?

Hey.

Hey.

What are you doing here?

I came to clean you up.

Because you smell rotten.

This is my final warning.

Don't ever come near my wife or me.

If you do, that'll be your funeral.

You've got it backwards.

You're rotten from head to toe.

You're a dirty criminal.

Derek!

Derek withdrew money from all his accounts.

I also tapped his calls with his wife.

Derek...

has changed.

I can't use this photo.

-Put in an order for that. -Okay.

Ms. Kim Dong-ran is asking

when her dress will be ready.

Her dress is in Ah-reum's office.

Bring it to me.

Actually,

regarding her late friend's dress...

She ripped it with a scissor.

What?

She ripped it?

What now?

Oh, brother. Ah-reum.

What are we going to tell Ms. Kim Dong-ran?

Why did you rip Sophie's dress?

Tell her to call off the wedding.

Let's save her groom from a life of misery.

Could you save me first?

Me. I'm cherished by my family.

We're going to head to bankruptcy if you keep this up.

You're totally unfocused. We need all hands on deck right now.

Ah-reum, now listen.

I'm the investor and you're the manager.

-I'm the investor. -You can head home.

Hello?

Hey!

AREUMDAUN DRESS

Aren't you joining us for dinner?

-Join us. -Come on and treat us once.

-Did you lock the back door? -Yes, I locked it.

Let's go home.

-Good night. -See you tomorrow.

-How about we have dinner? -Could you get away from us?

-Let's go. -Come on. Wait.

I'm alone again?

Gosh.

The lights are off again.

There's an emergency switch somewhere here.

Where is it?

Is it you, Doo-lae?

Who’s there?

I guess everyone left.

Who are you?

Doo-lae, Ah-reum isn't answering her phone.

Could you check on her?

Ah-reum!

Ah-reum!

Wake up, Ah-reum!

Doo-lae.

Can you hear me?

Doo-lae.

Talk to me.

Don't tell Derek.

EMERGENCY CENTER

Where is Ah-reum?

She's getting emergency treatment.

The electrical wiring is messed up in our building

and she was on a ladder, trying to fix it.

Honey!

Let's sit. My legs are hurting.

Don't take it so seriously.

This is the ER.

It's not someone's funeral.

I was thinking in the car.

If anything were to happen to you...

I wouldn't be able to live.

I would end my life.

But...

if something were to happen to me...

Then you would grieve for me.

When I was a kid,

I almost drowned in the sea.

My lungs were

filled with water

and I couldn't breathe at all.

I thought

I was going to die.

So I imagined seeing you grieving if I were to die.

I couldn't breathe like back then.

Then it hit me that I've done a terrible thing.

You would be so sad if I were to die.

You would try not to cry.

But that would just

deepen your sorrow.

Every tear you shed

would cut me deeper

than anything.

I would fall into despair

and die.

I'll do as you say.

Really?

I'll cooperate with the police.

But...

It could be harder than you imagine.

No matter how hard it is,

if you'll be by my side,

I can do it.

It breaks my heart.

Our insurance covers accidental falls,

break-ins and property damage.

Ah-reum.

I don't know what you're hiding from me.

But if it's a trivial matter...

You have to drink all the soju here as punishment.

I can't believe it.

Ji-hun is an Interpol agent and not unemployed?

That's shocking to know. And Derek is a spy?

-You can't believe it, right? -No.

But it sounds plausible.

What?

It's strange that Derek is so perfect.

How come your ex-husband and husband are both so...

You're the problem.

How come you pick the wrong guys to marry?

-I care about looks. -That's what led to this mess!

Stop talking about that.

You won't even be punished in your afterlife.

You've been punished enough already.

Stop saying that, Doo-lae.

I'm in a bad state.

Of course, it's tough.

You're only human. Who can handle this?

Why is this happening to me?

That's why

I told you not to get married!

No matter how hard you try, I'll still do it.

You're insane.

What are you going to do now?

I can't stand

my ex-husband and husband.

But I'm going to fix it.

Fix it?

How?

Put them back where they belong.

Come to see me at four.

An Interpol agent will be there. He'll help us.

Honey.

Was there a lot of traffic?

He's not here yet?

Go over there.

What are you doing here?

I'm Jeon Ji-hun, an Interpol officer with the Asia Second Bureau.

And you're Derek Hyun, an industrial spy working for Helmes.

Your cover is blown.
