After high-altitude
racing in colorado,

teams are preparing their cars
for lower elevation here.

That means we'll see
faster passes tonight

during grudge racing.

Team okc
is loaded up tonight

for team races,

while nola will continue

to pick and choose
who they grudge.

But team texas
and team outcasts

have limited cars
- ready for grudge nights.

So the pressure's on
to gain data

and make clean passes
tonight.

Mike:
There's our leader.

We were just talking
about being honest.

You know we suck this year,
but we're [bleep] fast.

Chuck 55:

I must sound

but team texas has struggled
during grudge night,

and colorado
was no different.

Grudge night strategies

haven't worked for texas,

but they're sticking together,
no matter what.

So the few cars
they have ready to roll

will gather data
for everyone else.

So, kelley's car,
he got hit, running.

This thing was running fantastic
till we came up here.

Farmtruck: Team outcast is also
dealing with broken cars,

but unlike texas,

their grudge racing strategy
has paid off,

with axman going all the way
to the finals in joliet...

Axman:
That's a good [bleep],
right there, boy.

...And vixen going
- to the finals in colorado.

azn: Tonight, they'll
tweak their strategy

and focus on only
racing each other,

while drivers
like kelly bluebaugh

wrench on their cars.

I feel like
I've got the best team.

I've got the best guys.

Do not get me wrong.

We will all send the rods
through the pan

or put the car through the wall
to try to outrun the other one.

But when we got
to band together,

we're gonna band together.

Got some smoke?
The exhaust, though,

not going nowhere
near that, now.

So, I'll tell you, that's
the one spring we just changed.

[ tool whirring ]

so, going by that, we got
about 7,000 feet better air.

It was, what, 90,
100 in denver?

-Yeah, 96.
Yeah 96.

So, we're right at...
It's 2,800 here.

So car is gonna run
way better.

Farmtruck:
Back in colorado,

the high altitude
and lack of air

caused engines
to struggle

and nola left
with damaged motors.

I've had enough.
This hurts.

They're bad huh?

Lizzy:
Up here in colorado,
we're down on power.

That means we got to
add more nitrous.

And adding more nitrous
is always a risk

of blowing up the motor.

It's like 9,200 feet of air,

today we got 2,800 feet.

Thanks to colorado, me and lizzy
has both got fresh motors.

So, you got
a brand-new motor.

So we're sitting on
three fresh motors.

And this track is slick,

and I think it's gonna
be anybody's game.

With the way our cars
are running --

and like you said,
we all got brand-new motors --

I think any three of us
can take it.

Azn: Nola's shipping out
new motors

into ohio,
so tonight they'll need

to communicate
with one another

on what is
and what isn't working

on their new setups
for this track.

Farmtruck:
And they'll stay away
from racing other teams.

The last thing they want
is leaking data

to the competition
about their new motors.

Leaking data or oil --
really, any leaks

are not good for racing.

At the end of the day
I want our team to win.

I don't care
if it's any three of us.

Alright, so, here we are

at the seventh race
in norwalk, ohio.

But we can make
a statement right here,

and then, going into
the last two races,

we can make it
where texas can't touch us

and nola can't catch ryan.

Farmtruck:
- Team okc has found a groove

to their grudge night
strategy,

racing only each other,

while letting chief
take outside hits.

Azn: It's been a strong strategy
for the 405,

and in colorado, it helped chief
win the entire event.

Oh, my god!

Big chief
pulls off the upset.

Obviously --
obviously, team texas

is fighting
amongst themselves,

and they
ain't got to fold 'em.

So, when I showed up
this season --

mind you,
a couple races late --

all I had heard about was

that texas
kicked everybody's ass,

and it was oklahoma vs. Texas,
supposedly.

When I got here,
I couldn't understand

why oklahoma vs. Texas
at anything,

cause texas hasn't won
a [bleep] thing

since I've been here.

Farmtruck:
Team okc will continue

their team grudge
racing strategy in ohio.

And with his confidence
running high,

chief will go after
a team texas heavy-hitter

to steal some data.

Big chief:

Lutz and chuck 55

are kicking off
grudge night in ohio

and will start
- collecting data for the 405.

Azn:
Lutz had some trouble,
spooling,

back in colorado's
high altitude,

so he'll be focused on getting
a good jump off the light.

farmtruck: Lutz gets
a good jump on the tree

and puts down a solid
first pass for the 405.

Azn:
And it shows that his car

doesn't have the same
spooling issues here.

But chuck 55 stalls out,

and the 405 take away
only one pass of data

for their first
grudge race.

Back in colorado's
grudge night,

chuck's engine blew up

and took him
out of the competition.

Chuck 55:
Car's hauling ass.

It's got a brand-new motor
in it.

I put a brand-new motor
in it to come here.

Man: [bleep] damn.

On the first pass,
grudge-racing monza,

two rods broke.

Looks like, to me,
they were starved with oil,

but regardless, the end result
is catastrophic failure.

Got the block and the blanket
and everything.

It broke the block.

Yeah, I think the blanket
was on fire.

on fire.

This grudge night will be
very important for chuck

to break in his new motor.

So he's lined up a race
with monza,

who'll push him
- to put down a fast pass.

Farmtruck: Hey, make sure
the bleep button is ready,

because if chuck
blows up again,

we're gonna need
to use it.

Azn:
Let me test it.

[bleep], it's ready.

their brand-new motors.

Chuck's new motor

Okay, so, we put the armageddon
tune-up in it early

and then the [bleep]
colorado tune-up out the back.

Azn: After winning
the event in colorado,

chief is coming into ohio
with a bunch of confidence.

Farmtruck: He's
setting his car back up

for the lower elevation.

So, before he takes
an outside race,

he's going to test
his tune-up

with fellow team okc driver
robin roberts.

[ engine revs ]

[ tires screech ]

big chief:
We're still doing it,

we're learning, we're going
to the different tracks.

We're trying to figure out
what each different track does

or doesn't do
and what each one of them has.

You know, the lanes
and the bumps and all that.

You know,
if the track is smooth,

where the transitions are.

There's just a lot
to figure out.

Azn:
Robin's struggled lately,

so it'll be hard
for outside teams

to gauge how fast chief is
on this track.

Exactly
what the 405 wants.

big chief and robin
launch off the line cleanly,

but then pull left
almost immediately.

Farmtruck: Robin heads
towards the wall

and pulls the chutes early,
but big chief hangs in there

and muscles his way
for the win light.

Look at chief flexing
those bustles.

With a pass under his belt,

chief will now look
to set up a race

with the rivals --
team texas.

Looks like it went --

bounced up, spun
a little this way.

But I know that pass ain't
gonna outrun no [bleep] bear.

with the tuning in his car.

He's probably using a 1975
texas instruments calculator.

That's what I use
on the farm truck.

I found the last couple,

worked through the solution

just before race time.

if his racing career

doesn't pan out,

ryan could make a splash
in the I.T. World.

the fastest passes we have

together
for this thing.

Make a good hit.

We're just gonna do
what we do.

Both ryan and dave

are gonna build off
previous okc passes.

And, hopefully,
dave doesn't have

any lingering
program issues.

Azn: Dave
gets a jump on rambo.

The fireball goes around them
and takes the win.

both deliver strong passes
for the 405,

and dave's programming issues
aren't a problem anymore.

It's a great
all-around team effort.

Must've put new batteries

in that texas instruments
calculator.

Kye: Think
we ought to be good.

I mean,
2,800 feet ain't ideal,

but it ain't bad air,
but I got a fresh motor,

so we're gonna have
as much power as we ever had.

And we can use
all the nitrous here,

as opposed to,
up there, we couldn't.

Yeah.

But just from
- the engine standpoint alone,

we're gonna be just fine.

Just a fresh engine.
It even sounds better.

Like, up there, it sounded like
it was running backwards.

Farmtruck: Kye and
the rest of team nola

are coming into
ohio's grudge night

with fresh motors.

Azn:
And with better air,

their nitrous setups will
perform to their full potential.

The good thing about
running here is, unlike denver,

we can actually use
a sis kit.

You know?

In denver, I was scared
to turn on the fifth.

Judging by the pistons
that came out in denver,

there's a reason for it.

farmtruck: Kye and jerry bird
are first up for team nola.

They'll start off
grudge night

by seeing how much power
this track can handle.

Azn: No doubt, they're gonna
turn all their kits on here.

Kye's got a six-pack,

and he can't wait
to crack it open.

-it went red too early,
-it went red, baby.

azn: Kye red-lights,
but puts down a fast pass,

and jerry makes a solid hit,
as well.

Farmtruck:
- The new motors work well,

which is a huge relief
for team nola.

And as everyone knows,

a working motor
is a happy motor.

The car's
really running good

and the transmission's
coming around,

and I'm happy
with the transmission.

I'm so glad, we should have
did that a long time ago, man.

Yeah, I feel confident.

You didn't mess
- with the catch can, huh?

Azn: Team nola is bringing
scott taylor up next.

He's got a new motor,
as well,

but he'll
be testing it out

against a racer
without a team --

detroit's brian "chucky" davis
in his '69 camaro.

Farmtruck:
And after seeing kye
and jerry's race,

scott is going to put down
as much power as he can

with his new motor,
as well.

Scott: The good thing is,
from colorado to here,

we picked up
about 12 pounds of boost.

So, we're back to sea level,
pretty much,

and that makes a huge difference
on a pro charger car.

So, we got
all the power we need.

We just got to figure out
how we can use it.

[ crowd cheers ]

brian "chucky" davis
gets loose

on the big end
and has to lift early,

but scott puts down
a fast pass of data

for team nola to share.

Farmtruck:
And most importantly,

team nola's motors
- re working well so far in ohio.

Coming up to the line next
is team texas' eric bain.

Eric had some major issues
back in colorado,

but he's worked hard
to get his car ready

to collect data
here in ohio.

And he'll be taking on
a driver without a team,

kansas' randy williams.

looks like randy's got
some power issues on the line.

His car just turned off.

It'll be hard to collect data
if his car's not gonna turn on.

[ chuckles ]

in the right lane,

patiently waiting
to boost up.

He's probably praying
that his revamped motor

can weather this delay.

and he is turning his car off.

And bain is set
for a solo pass.

- launches off the line cleanly

and puts down a strong pass

with a little shake
on the big end.

It's a good pass of data
to bring back to team texas,

especially with so few cars
ready tonight.

As for randy,
he'll need to regroup

and figure out
his mechanical issues

and hope to get back on
the track for another grudge.

Otherwise,
he'll have no data

and no idea
- how to handle this track.

The nitrous is off,

so I don't know why
the transmission's locked up.

Man:
You'll go straight back.

Think a lock-up
coming on, huh?

That's what I
think it is.

disco dean is also
- starting ohio's grudge night off

with a new motor,
and he's ready

to show it off
- in front of his home state.

Disco dean:
We got a screw blower.

Second thing we're gonna do is,
we got a screw blower.

And third thing we're gonna do
is, we got a screw blower.

A screw blower is
the god of all gods

for power-adders.

It just happened to be
sitting on top of my motor.

A screw blower
is so efficient,

and the intake charge
is very cold temperatures,

and it has very low
parasitic drag.

We put some timing in it.

We take a little bit
of fuel away.

We tickle it in the middle,

and she gonna run out
the back door.

Azn:
Parasitic grade would be

a great name for a band.

Farmtruck:
- I'd camp out for tickets.

After the last race,
we were out in colorado,

we had a couple issues
with the car.

We blew the headers open.

So we had to go back
after that race

and build new collectors
and headers for the car.

So we're out here, first race,
with new setup.

We're gonna go up there
and see what happens.

is bringing disco

and another heavy hitter,
the vixen, to the line first.

They'll start off by
putting down a powerful pass

and collect some data
for the team.

vixen stalls
and red-lights.

Dean launches off
the starting line,

but suffers
some mechanical issues.

Azn: It's a bad start
for team outcast,

who comes away

to fix his new motor.

We always run the car
low on power.

Yeah, I know, to get data.

Farmtruck: After blowing up
her engine in colorado,

lizzy also has a new motor
to start grudge night.

Azn: And even though nola's
put down some solid passes,

she's not going to
swing for the fences

and risk another motor.

We get some cars down, so...

looking at in the cars.

Lizzy set up a race

with another racer
without a team --

wayne out of
jupiter, florida,

and his car,
tropical thunder.

Azn: Nola hasn't taken any
outside races with other teams,

a strategy that will
keep any data

out of their
toughest competition.

Nola wants to bank another
clean pass of data here.

So lizzy is focused on
getting her car down the track

without any damage.

man: Yes!

Yes!

Farmtruck:
- Lizzy gets down the track

with a straight fast pass,

while wayne has to save
tropical thunder

heading
right for the wall.

Azn: Team nola
is rolling in ohio.

They're communicating
what is and what isn't working

on this track,
and using the strategy

of racing one another
or drivers without teams

to their advantage.

This track has handled

a lot of power
during the day,

but now the sun is setting
and the track is cooling off.

So teams will test to see

if the conditions
have changed at night.

Team nola is coming
to the track first

to test
the nighttime conditions.

This time, jerry bird
is against another racer

without a team --
kansas' randy williams.

Azn:
Team nola put together

great passes
in the daytime.

And now jerry will be
focused on getting data

on track conditions
at night for team nola.

[ engine revving ]

randy williams
has staging issues

and has to shut it down,

which gives jerry bird
a free solo pass.

♪

[ crowd cheers ]

immediately after launching
off the starting line,

jerry hits a bald spot
on the track

and loses traction
and has to lift,

and isn't able to take advantage
of the solo pass for team nola.

As for randy williams,
he's unable to make a pass.

And without a team
to work with,

he leaves grudge night
with no data to analyze.

♪ wah-wah-wah ♪

you know, randy
doesn't take well

to trends or teams.

He's pretty much
a punk rocker.

Don't tell him
or his broken car

what's cool, bro.

We staged
the nitrous energized

in neutral
on the starting line.

So when I hit
the staging button

to kill and
lock that motor down,

so I won't blow the motor,

it took out the transmission.

♪

let's start at
- okc's grudge racing today

with one of
- the team's strongest passes.

Tonight, the 405 is sending him
to the line first.

He'll be racing
dominator,

who's on the track
- for the first time tonight.

He's got a bunch of data
to work off of,

so he'll swing for the fences
and keep pace with lutz.

Mr. Lutz
is rolling in ohio,

after putting down
another fast pass.

Dominator came off
the line strong,

but on the big end,
lost power.

So, team okc
has another car

dealing with
mechanical issues.

Dominator:
I just ran jeff lutz

in my last grudge race.

The car is rolling.
I'm happy.

I mean, I haven't been
this happy with the car

in a long time.

And probably 300 feet out,
it just shuts off.

It was rolling over fine,

and then the cam
stopped turning.

So I've either sheared
the dowel pin off the camshaft

or I've stripped the belt --
the timing belt.

Either one is gonna be bad
at 8,500 rpm.

It probably bent every freakin'
intake valve in it.

And the [bleep] part is,
it was finally going again.

Aw, you got to be
[bleep] kidding me.

We went from
making a great pass

to that thing just ate
about 15 grand.

There is absolutely no way
I can tear this thing apart,

put a motor in it,
and be race-ready tomorrow.

chuck seitsinger
and daddy dave

have destroyed
their own motors

during previous
grudge nights.

But after strong passes
earlier today,

they're looking to bring
more data to the 405

and refine their tunings.

[ engine revs ]

uh-oh, possible problems
in the left lane.

Let's see if
chuck can get it going,

get this thing
to do a burnout.

Well, this isn't good.

Chuck just had to
shut it down at the line.

And the deathtrap may
live up to its name.

He does not look happy
in there.

Get that bleep button
ready.

Tell dave to hang on.

Tell dave to hang on!

- This is farmtruck and azn.

And chuck's new motor
is having issues on the line.

Azn:
This breaking news
for breaking motors

is a part of
team okc strategy, maybe.

It seems like that would be
a really bad strategy.

We're gonna see
if we can figure out

what's wrong with the car,
real quick.

What's it doing?

Chuck 55:
I don't know what's going on
at this point.

I don't know
if we're getting bad parts.

I don't know
if we're missing something.

I don't know if something
in the tune-up got messed up.

At this point, I don't know
what's going on.

All I know is,
I've got to step back,

figure out what's going on.

I have destroyed two motors

that has seven passes
on both motors together.

And you can't win races,
you can't win championships,

and you can't compete
when you're spending

18 times more the money
than you're making.

So it's up to me.
It's my racing program.

I've got to figure out
what's going on

and get to the bottom of it.

If you're gonna
take a pass,

be ready to
kill the ignition

at the finish line
in case it hangs.

another clean pass,

and he's got a locked-in tune
that fits this track well.

Chuck is able to make it
down the track also,

but flames kick out of the motor
on the big end.

Farmtruck:
It's a bad sign

when you got flames
coming out of everywhere,

and another 405 car has some
serious mechanical issues

here in norwalk.

team texas is finally
coming back to the track

with amarillo mike
and eric bain.

Better late than never.
Right?

Well, let's see
how this pans out.

These two faced off
last week in colorado,

and amarillo had
a front-row seat

to bain
blowing up his motor.

But bain has been
working hard all morning

to get it back up
and running.

If we can tighten
that hose up right here,

or do something here.

But this on the header
is what's filling up my cabin.

It might have a hole
in it or -- yeah.

This is what's
filling up the cabin.

[ speaking indistinctly ]
yeah.

We actually blew the motor
in colorado.

We put the spare engine in.

Oil pressure is [bleep]
on that motor, too.

Called up steve morris.

We've actually put bearings
in this thing yesterday.

Azn: We're
far into grudge night,

and with so few texas
drivers racing tonight,

these two have got to
put down a fast pass here.

Farmtruck:
- But let's hope he doesn't have
a repeat of last week.

Yeah, that would be
bad for business.

amarillo red-lights but still
puts down a ton of power

and completes the pass.

Probably didn't want to see
bain blow up again.

That doesn't sound like
a good strategy either.

Bain didn't
get a good jump,

and there was
- a serious lack of power.

He's got some work to do,
but the silver lining --

texas comes away with
one pass of much-needed data.

Team texas is sending birdman
to the track next,

hoping to refine the tune
amarillo just put down.

Birdman set up a race
with team outcast,

rich brooder,
and the vixen.

He's got a big opportunity
to gain data on the track

and another team's
heavy hitter.

Vixen stalled
- at the light, last race.

They'll be focused
on getting a clean pass,

plus some nighttime data
for team outcast.

[ cheers and applause ]

it's a clean launch off the line
for both drivers,

but birdman takes a hard left
towards the center line

and soon after,
has to lift.

That bird ain't
- flyin' straight tonight.

But it's a good run
for the vixen.

He has refined his tune
to fit this track tonight,

and all of team outcast
will be able

to use that data
to their advantage.

Axman gets jumpy

but has stuck to his strategy

with setting up a grudge
with team texas.

So now he's taking on
the heavy hitter, mike murillo.

But murillo has come into ohio
with more engine issues.

mike: I'm trying new things
that I normally wouldn't.

I'm throwing more snot

leaving the starting line,
than I ever have,

and it's responding,
but at the same time,

it's almost a little bit
uncontrollable.

at colorado's grudge night.

So big chief will be focused
on stealing data and redemption.

Every good pass I made
was crap.

The car was not doing
what it was told,

and I had no idea if I even
should be here at this point.

winning the whole damn thing
at the last one.

I'm a little nervous
that I don't have enough

for the heavy hitters yet,

so it's just
a lot to figure out.

After chief's
unsuccessful race,

and dominator and chuck
destroyed their motors,

the 405 needs to end
grudge night on a high note.

So the team has called on their
heavy hitter, ryan martin.

Ryan had a great pass
in the fireball earlier today,

and now he's looking to
lock in a tune for team okc

and salvage their night.

Chuck 55 also had
- mechanical issues earlier today,

and we'll see
- if he's fixed those problems.

- damaged-goods department.
