They have failed to win automatic
promotion to the Premier League

after finishing third in the Championship

and now face
the prospect of the play-offs

for the right to play
in the Premier League next season.

The final is at Wembley
and worth £170 million,

making it the most lucrative fixture
in world football.

My wife is a Leeds supporter,
my two kids are Leeds supporters.

My cat, also called Leeds.

But I can be a little bit grumpy
if Leeds lose.

We have around 5,000 members.

All of us started to support Leeds

when Leeds was Super Leeds
in the '60s and '70s.

We just grew up with English football,
so that's just part of our blood.

A lot of people in Scandinavia, and Norway
especially, are following an English team.

That's the home of football,
that's in England.

And it's a very, very good atmosphere.

You know people, you go to a bar
and talk for two hours

and never see them again.

But that's the friends.
Friends for a couple of hours.

I think it's important that we get
a little bit back on track now

after these two losses
during the Easter weekend.

It's important that we get back on track,
we have a good game against Villa

and then we'll just see how it goes.

It's important to have like a momentum
going into the playoffs.

Villa is a very good team,
they are very in form,

and we just have to be on our best.

Before the play-offs,

Leeds will play their final home game
of the regular season

against in-form Aston Villa,
who have also secured a play-off place.

It's a meeting between two giants
of English football.

Two weeks ago, this game looked destined
to be the moment

Leeds fans could celebrate
their return the Premier League together.

But a shock home defeat
to ten-man Wigan changed everything.

One-nil. Home to Wigan against ten men.

We self-destructed on the pitch.

At half-time we seemed to do
some strange substitutions.

And seemed to just implode.

I was at Brentford as well,

and I think
the psychological blow of Wigan

has just knocked us west.

I'm feeling it a week later
and I'm sure the players are feeling it.

It's an important game
against Villa today, to not lose.

A draw is fine. Just don't get whipped.

Something has to change.
It needs some kind of spark

to get us out of this deep state
of darkness and depression.

Fans from all over the world
have travelled to Elland Road

for the Aston Villa game.

From Norway to Malaga,
Malaga to Manchester

and then over here, so, you know.

What people do to follow their team
is just fantastic.

If anyone would have said at the beginning
that we would be P3

and we would go for the play-offs,
I would sign blindly.

has invited the players' families

to join the team before kick-off.

Leeds United against Aston Villa,

they meet in what could well be
a dress rehearsal

for the Championship play-off final itself
at Wembley in a few weeks' time.

Both teams are keen to impose
their authority from the off.

The game quickly descends
into a frenetic, bad-tempered affair.

This man is a disgrace.

Leeds players and fans
feel decisions are going against them.

Leeds United once again are involved

in one of the most controversial
and talked-about incidents

and he's come off worse off himself.

what they're gonna have to do.

What the fuck is going on?

Well, the goal's been given

but Marcelo Bielsa, well, he's giving out

nobody's quite sure what's going on

He demands his players allow Villa
to score an equaliser, unopposed.

The scenario does not go down well

Well, to me,
it was a very, very good season...

with a bad end.

But I suffered much more
after the weekend, personally.

I was prepared this time,
I don't know why, I was prepared.

At the end, the last six to eight weeks,
they were exhausted.

In that moment
we need to put more love. More love.

Yes, it's true that the 46 games
are really tough.

- But the last two months...

Decisions now need to be taken.

Does Andrea have the ambition
and financial clout

to continue bankrolling another attempt
to take Leeds United home next season?

it's very hard to take.

I want to change in this club

because I don't want to see excuses.

I hear a lot of rumours
about me selling the club or leaving.

Absolutely no way.

Those who know me well know how much
I'm determined to reach what I want.

I'm like a child in this way.

I really want to get it done

and I want to achieve my goals
all of the time, in everything I do.

I also understand

that the opportunity to run this club
and make this club big is massive,

so I will not be afraid
to open the club to other partners

if this helps the mission.

So, I want to be the guardian of this club
and the leader of this club

but I will not be closed-minded
and not accept other parties.

In the last eighteen months, I think,
we have received many interested parties

approaching the club
to invest in the club or buy the club.

I rejected all of the options to buy
the club because I don't want to give up.

But I listened to everyone
who was happy to join me

and make this club bigger.

I don't exclude

that maybe soon, I will open the door

to one or two partners
to help this club to become bigger.

What does the future now hold
for coveted stars

such as Kalvin Phillips, Kemar Roofe
and Pontus Jansson,

whose performances this season
have attracted admiring glances

from top-flight clubs?

We have to sell some players

and unfortunately the finances
of the last three years

or the balance of the last three years
of the club are showing big losses

and we could be possibly penalised

with the deduction of points
by the league.

So, in order to not be penalised,

to not have this risk,
we need to sell some players.

But, technically at this moment we could
have all of the money of this world,

but we have a financial fair play
regulation that doesn't allow us

to invest in players, so even if I inject
one billion we could not use it.

So, we need to stick with this restriction

and try to be smart
and have a competitive team anyway,

and I think that's what we will do.

Will Marcelo Bielsa stay for a second term

and orchestrate another bid to guide Leeds
all the way to the Premier League?

There is no doubt
that Marcelo is a great coach.

There is no doubt that he engaged
very well with the fans and the city

and he became very quickly
an icon of this club

and he has done well for this club.

I wanted him because we needed a leader

who was able to change
the culture of this club.

In only one year, he did it.

But at the same time
he needs to change in something

and let go a little bit

and maybe lower the level of stress.

So, it depends on him

if he wants to stay,
but it also depends on us.

I think we want to sit down with him
and understand what is his vision

and I think we all deserve another chance

because we can't leave
this job unfinished.

Marcelo is a man of mystery.

So, with most managers I've worked with
you'd have been absolutely sure

on what their intentions were.

With Marcelo,
he'd been so focused on the season,

he hadn't wanted to talk
about the year ahead

and we admired that characteristic in him
that he was focused on the job in hand.

So, obviously when the season finished,
Victor, Andrea and I sat down with him

and it got off to a good start

because he immediately
started talking about

what went wrong
and how he wanted to fix it.

I totally trust Marcelo's ideas
and I totally trust Marcelo's methodology.

He's the most clever man
that I have met in my life

and not only about football.

It wasn't an easy conversation.

We discussed how we were going
to strengthen the team.

We discussed
how we were going to manage

within the constraints
of financial fair play.

So, he wanted a clear picture
of what were going to be the tools

that he was going to be able to employ.

He wanted to have clear direction

on the continued renovations
at Thorp Arch,

which is a personal obsession.

It was a bit like the first meeting

and it re-instilled my belief
that he is the man to get us up.

Because he said, "I know where we got it
wrong, I know what we need to fix."

How are you, sir? Nice to see you.

I have been working here in Leeds
for a year.

And there are many things
that happened to me this year,

that have given me nice surprises.

I am responsible for the sporting results

and for the management,

which is the most important thing I do.

I have received the support
of Victor Orta and the chairman.

They have allowed the plan
that we have devised to be realised.

I really appreciate that they promised
what they could fulfil.

Regrettably, the goal we pursued,
we did not reach.

That takes weight off everything we did.

Of course, we should provide
the promotion of the team.

But anyway, this was not possible,

and we all suffer for this,

especially me, because I'm responsible.

I was very sad
that the team did not go up,

because so much effort
from so many people

that work and love the club

and this workforce,
