This movie is inspired by the actions of the Italian Navy's storm troopers and in particular by the assault motorboats that in the night of March 29, 1941 were able to breach into the naval base of Suda.

Ponti-De Laurentiis thank the Navy for their collaboration. They also thank commander and gold medal Luigi Faggioni, who actually led the mission on Suda for the technical consulence.

An insidious and lethal weapon, designed to penetrate the enemy's harbour and hit their fleet.

We were surprised and at the same time fascinated by the risk and the audacity required for the mission.

It was all on our shoulders. A man on his boat going at full speed against a big ship.

A human torpedo.

Every motorboat carried 300 kg. of explosive. It was enough even for a battleship.

After hitting the target a secondary charge was going to tear the prow

while the primary was to penetrate the hull, dealing the maximum damage.

And us?

Were we going to sacrifice our lives like a japanese kamikaze?

No.

50 meters before the impact we were going to release the seat and dive into the water.

The risk was in reaching the float as fast as possible

in a few seconds, or the underwater explosion would've ripped our spines away.

However, no chance to come back to Italy, unless until the war was over.

For the drill an automatic device stopped the motorboat right after we jumped away.

But as soon as we got confident with the assault motorboat we started to practice during the night.

We went offshore every evening, after the sunset

to learn to navigate in the deepest darkness.

facing every unexpected obstacle.

We learned this way the tricks and the secrets that maybe one day could have helped us in violating an enemy base.

And to catch the opponent by surprise.

Lastly, after three months, came the pointing exercises.

For now we had to throw ourselves against buoys and other floating objects.

But it was already exciting.

We are only seven left.
Who knows if today he's going to discard someone else.
