And they are going to make
the deepest underwater dive

that's ever been known.

- Gee Professor, what's a bathyscaphe?

- Well, it's like a great big ball, Jimmy,

with two men inside.

They use it for going down into the sea

much deeper than a submarine.

- Deeper than supercar could go?

- Much deeper than that.

It says here that the
bathyscaphe is on a Naval boat

near New Zealand, and they
are going halfway down,

one of the deepest seabeds in the world.

I'd rather be here on dry land (chuckles)

(adventurous trumpet music)

with the Navy divers,

who are trapped in a bathyscaphe

while on a test dive off New Zealand.

that mean they can't speak

to them by telephone?

- That's right Jimmy.

But | expect they are using
an Aztec morse transmitter.

- What's that professor?

- Well Jimmy, the simplest
way | can explain it is this.

You know about the radar I'm sure.

everyone's heard of that.

- Well, Aztec is the equivalent
of radar, but underwater.

- And now Mike, about this ultrasonic gun,

so that we can fire into the blast wall.

(dooming suspenseful music)

just before we took off

deep sea divers in the
universe in a minute.

- You realise we may not
be able to do anything.

Since none of us can leave
either Supercar or the sphere.

- It won't hurt to take a look.

had better manoeuvre

right into contact with the sphere.

We shall then be able to
communicate with them.

- Sure. | just think they're
about ready to give up.

And that goes for the
people upstairs, too.

- Captain, no signals
received for ten minutes

or more now, sir.

I'll make a signal to base
confirming the loss of Lu 1.

- | suppose we're never
gonna find the answer

to those impossible echoes now.
