So what they do is, they take a
group,

or scenario for that group,

and this incorporates how other
people's decisions affect yours.

So a simplified version of this
is the prisoner's dilemma.

with it? Economics 101.

So what you have is
you have firm B,

and you have firm A. And they're
gonna get into a deal.

Now they both can
be honest in the deal,

or they both
can cheat.

So now if they're both honest,

they'll each get five
million dollars, okay?

And they both can cheat and one
has more than the other.

Now the other thing is that they
both can cheat,

which will only leave them three
million dollar each.

So you have four options here.

But the Nash equilibrium is
50% of the time,

both firm A and firm B are
gonna choose to cheat

and get less than they would
have had, had they cooperated.
