He was gunned down, ambushed.

Tim and Tia grew even closer,
living in the same house.

From the outside looking in,
you would not know

that there was any troubles.

Could be a little hanky-panky
going on here.

What did she know
and what was really going on?

Who convinced who
to murder and why?

Everyone has a breaking point.
Every one of us.

I used to tell them all the
time, man, "Watch your back."

Don't get complacent.

At first, it was like,
this can't be true.

Place went crazy.
I mean, crazy.

He was a really good guy.

There was something there
that just didn't quite match.

Seduction can be overpowering.

The city of Buford
is a small suburb

just outside of Atlanta,

maybe 30 miles from downtown.

A lot of diversity out there,
a lot of nice looking homes,

it's just a real
great area to live.

But in 2017, the young
family home in Buford

hid some dark secrets.

George and Tia Young

were living there
with their three sons

and another member
of the household

whose presence
would test their marriage.

[Rob] George and Tia
were high school sweethearts.

They met each other,
immediately fell in love.

They were from South Carolina,

but that move to Georgia

was definitely
a positive move for them.

George Young
worked in security

and technology type stuff

and opened his own company

and then subcontracted
for a major security firm.

[Rob] The opportunities in
Georgia were just endless,

is related to technology.

George and I talked
and set up a meeting.

And lo and behold,
here comes this guy, about 6'5",

good looking guy,
smile on his face.

We immediately connected

and he was on
a payroll after that.

George was my go-to guy.

He was a master at all crafts.

There was nothing
that was too big for him.

There was nothing that was
too technical for him.

He would work until
the wee hours of the morning

to make sure
that the job got done

and he was
a great problem solver.

He worked hard, but he made
time for his family,

his kids participating
in their sports.

[Rob] Tia worked
in the medical field.

She was a good mom.

The boys loved her
and she would spend

as much time
as she could with them.

People view Tia Young
as a very loving,

caring,
doting mother and wife.

Your typical
suburban housewife,

caring for her family,
putting them first.

George was
so in love with Tia.

He was always finding ways
to keep her happy,

always finding ways
to surprise her with different things.

[Stacy] From the outside
looking in,

you would not know
that there was any troubles

within George
and Tia's residence.

Harvey Timothy Lee came into
George and Tia's life

at an early age.

They grew up together

and continued to be in contact
with one another

through their childhood
and adult years.

[Willie] Tim moved to Atlanta
to try to better his stuff.

And when George ran into him,

he found out that
Tim was living out of a hotel,

had no employment.

And so George,
being the friend that he is,

gave him a job.

But that's the kind of guy
George was.

You know, he's not gonna
turn his back on a friend.

[Tony] George invited him
to live with him and his wife

and his three children
all in their Buford home.

George and Tim worked together
in various security jobs.

And ultimately, Tim began
to contribute, not much,

but contribute financially
to the household.

[Rob] It was very clear to me,

Tim did not have
the skill set.

He did not have any capability
close to George's skill

regarding getting a job done.

But George seemed to be
defensive about Tim.

George called Tim his brother.

That's how close
and integrated into this family Tim was.

George has done
a generous thing here,

but bringing someone
who has nothing

into a happy home
can have consequences.

Envy is a powerful emotion.

Tim ain't accomplished a thing
in his whole entire life.

He comes into George's life,

he look at how George
got things going on,

got a nice house,
got a family,

got his own business,
successful.

He wanted what George had.

Through 2016,
through most of 2017,

the Youngs
were doing pretty well.

Dual income, family,
three kids in good schools.

But then in the fall of 2017,
Tia lost her job

as a nursing assistant.

There goes one of
their paychecks.

Now it's all on
George's shoulders

to keep that family together
and keep providing for them.

George has said,
"Now I'm gonna do everything in my power

to make up
that financial difference,

so please give me as much
work as you can give me."

George would sometimes
leave the house

as early as
seven in the morning

and not get home
till one in the morning.

He also would go
and do the private security

in the evenings
at events for rappers

or people throughout Atlanta.

[Willie]
You would think everybody living under the same roof,

everybody would chip in.

So George wouldn't
have to work that hard.

You would expect your wife
to at some point say,

"Well, listen,
let me get a part-time job."

[Rob] I was amazed that he was
still holding things together.

And I just kept looking for
some kind of break somewhere.

[Stacy] Money troubles can put
a strain on any marriage.

George may resent Tia because
she's not pulling her weight.

Tia, meanwhile,
may resent George

because he's gone so much.

Or she could be concerned
about the type of work

he's doing when he's gone.

Tia had expressed some
concern to other individuals

of the risk that it was taking
on George and the family

for George to be out there

working some of
these security jobs

with high-profile clients
that we don't really know

a lot of their background or
who they're hanging out with.

[Willie] I was actually
concerned when I found out

that George was doing the type
of work that he was doing.

George wasn't experienced
enough to be out there.

And I used to tell him
all the time,

"Man, make sure
you're watching.

You gotta be paying attention.
Watch your back at all times.

Don't get complacent.

Don't expect somebody else
to be watching for you."

In late 2017, George Young
was working many hours,

many nights he was not home.

Friends I've talked to said

George had told them,

"I'm happy
Tim is living with us.

I'm away from
the house so much.

It's nice having a man there
to help protect my family."

[Stacy] George is relying on
Tim at this point

to protect his family.

But you have to ask yourself,

whose interest is Tim
really protecting?

Tim and Tia had been
lifelong friends,

but they grew even closer
living in the same house.

[Sabrina]
Tia and Tim's relationship began to sort of blossom.

In fact, they even called
each other brother and sister

in front of their friends,

in front of other individuals
who were around.

Tia would be inside
of Tim's room.

That was their hangout spot
that they would go in there

and watch movies
throughout the day

because they didn't have
anything else to do.

The kids were at school.
George was at work.

I think everyone kind of
started to speculate

a little bit on what their
relationship really was.

There was that sense
of intimacy

that was starting
to appear to people.

[Stacy] This is
a dangerous situation.

Tia and Tim are home with
too much time on their hands.

And boredom can turn
to discontent

or something even more toxic.

[Rob] Everyone has
a breaking point.

Every one of us,
but none of us could have imagined

the magnitude of
what was about to happen.

November 16th, 2017,
11:31 at night,

a call is made to 911 from
George and Tia Young's house.

- [phone ringing]
- [911 operator speaking]

The caller says
shots had just been fired

and there was a body
lying on the front porch.

[911 operator speaking]

On November 16th of 2017,

a 911 call came in
at 11:31 p.m.

and that 911 caller
was Tia Young.

[911 operator speaking]

[Tia speaking]

As Tia Young is on the phone,

dispatchers hear a man
in the background

start talking to Tia.

[911 operator speaking]

[Tia speaking]

[Tony] That man is Tim Lee.

That person that's lying
out there bleeding

is his best friend,
George Young.

[Tia speaking]

[Tim speaking]

[Tia speaking]

[911 operator speaking]

[Tia speaking]

[911 operator speaking]

[Tia speaking]

At one point, they asked
if anybody has done CPR

or is doing CPR.

- [Tia whimpering] Ma'am.
- [911 operator speaking]

[911 operator speaking]

[Tia speaking]

[911 operator speaking]

[Tia speaking]

[gasps]

[911 operator speaking]

Sadly, by the time that
medical personnel arrived,

George had succumbed
to his injuries

and died on the steps
of his own home.

[Rob] The night of George's
murder, I'll never forget it.

I remember the wife's
phone ringing

and she says hello to you,
and then she says,

"Oh my God, not George."

And my wife looked at me
and said,

"Someone just killed George."

It was like,
this can't be true.

Who in the world
would murder George?

I got my staff
in the conference room,

broke the news to everybody,
and the place went crazy.

I mean crazy.

No one could even believe it.

"Not George, not George."

Hey, can I take
a break for a second?

- [producer] Yeah, absolutely.
- All right.

[Dana] Homicide detectives
got called out to the scene.

I remember pulling up
to the house,

thinking this
shouldn't be happening in this neighborhood.

It's a well put together area.

When I got there, I could see
George from the road

laying on the front porch.

His feet were
still close to the door,

laying flat on his back,

looking straight up
into the air.

George had literally placed
his keys into the door

to unlock the door
into his own home.

And before he could
even enter the threshold

of his actual house,
he was gunned down,

ambushed right on the steps
of his front door.

[gunshots]

Our initial
scene investigation

and looking at George's body
at a closer proximity

revealed that it appeared
pre-autopsy

that he had been shot twice,
one in the chest area,

one in the lower face area.

When police
and evidence technicians

looked over the property

and ultimately
a scouring of the house,

they only found one casing
near his body.

That led them to believe
maybe the shooter or shooters

had picked up at least
one of those casings.

We wanted to get
initial interviews

with the people that were
in the residence

at the time
that this occurred.

And that was
with both Tia and Tim.

We sat down with Tim
there at the scene

to get an initial interview.

[officer speaking]

[Tim speaking]

[officer speaking]

[Tim speaking]

[officer] Mmm-hmm.

[Tim speaking]

Tia told police she was asleep
upstairs in her bedroom.

- [officer] Tell me--
- [Tia speaking]

[Stacy] This must be
an emotional time for both Tia and Tim.

A husband and a friend
was gunned down

on the steps of their home,

a place where a family
is supposed to feel safe.

I remember as an investigator

doing my initial walk
through the house,

opening the door
to the children's bedroom

and seeing them
peacefully sleeping.

And I remember it
breaking my heart,

knowing that when
they did finally wake up,

that they were gonna be told
that their father

had been shot on the
front porch of their house.

We sat down as investigators

and went over what some of
the possibilities were

that led to Georgia's death.

Robbery was
definitely something

that we had to consider,

that the keys
were in the door,

in the deadbolt
of the door still.

He still had his vehicle keys.

He still had
his iPhone with him.

Why would they have
not taken the items?

So this couldn't
have been a robbery.

During every
homicide investigation,

we're gonna conduct a thorough
canvas of the neighborhood.

And so we sent
uniform officers and other detectives

out to knock on some doors

and see if anybody
in the neighborhood

had seen anything.

[Sabrina] One of George
and Tia's neighbors

was actually
a young teenage girl.

And while she's babysitting,

she hears what she thinks
are two gunshots.

[Tony] She looked out
her window,

and what she told police
that she saw was a man.

Couldn't really describe him
that much.

It was dark, after all.

But he was hunched over
and kind of crawling almost

to the side of
George Young's truck

that was parked
in the driveway.

She says that shadowy figure
reached underneath that truck

and seemed to be
fumbling around for a while.

[Dana]
That night, George had been at a large department store

within the mall
to provide security

for a well-known rapper.

So we wanted to further
investigate that as well.

Not only did we obtain
video surveillance

from the event itself,

but we also spoke
with coworkers of George's

to see if maybe
there was an incident

where he made somebody angry
at his security job.

And angry enough
that they followed him home.

[Willie]
There's always a potential

of something going wrong,
absolutely.

You have to look
at all angles,

because anything is possible.

[Rob] Tia's asking me
what happened at the event.

I'm saying, "Nothing.

George was great."

George was not in harm's way.

It was no problem
at the event.

So as is common in
any homicide investigation,

the police are always going
to look at the phone records

of the individuals involved,
especially the victim.

In George's phone records,

the police were able
to determine

that he had been on the phone
with a specific phone number,

not only leading up to the
moments before his death,

but on numerous
other occasions.

When police followed up
with that number,

they were able to find
that it was actually

a female co-worker
of George's.

[Stacy] George was
an attractive man

who seems to have caught
the attention of women.

And the two most common
motives for murder

are money and love.

The police began
to kind of wonder,

was this a situation where
jealousy of another person

has played a part
in George's death?

[Dana]
We learned going through George's phone records

that he spoke with someone

all the way up to 11:23 p.m.
that night of November 16th.

That told us that he spoke
with her up until the time

he was basically
pulling into his driveway.

[Tony] Why was this woman
at 11 o'clock at night,

the last person to talk
to George Young,

what did she know
and what was really going on?

[Dana] We were able
to track down the individual

that used that phone number.

Her name was Tricia, and she
was a co-worker of George's.

And so myself
and another investigator

traveled to her residence
immediately.

We sat down with Tricia
in her residence,

and she was noticeably upset

from the minute
we knocked on the door.

It appeared she had been
crying pretty hard

since learning
of George's passing.

[officer speaking]

[Tricia speaking]

[officer] Okay.

[officer speaking]

- [Tricia speaking]
- [officer] Yeah.

[Tricia speaking]

[officer] Okay.

We wanted to get
a statement from her

as to what she remembered
from that night

being on the phone
with George.

[officer speaking]

[Tricia speaking]

We obtained the
video surveillance from the restaurant

that George went
to that night.

And there was nothing,

nothing that stuck out to us
as investigators

that would be a cause
for concern.

Tricia was able to provide
some very valuable information

to law enforcement

about a completely
different facet

of George
and Tia's relationship.

[Tricia speaking]

[officer] Mmm-hmm.

And so that raised
some concerns for us,

because up until this point,

we thought that
they were a happy couple.

[Tricia speaking]

We learned that
Tia had grown distant,

and that George
was trying to fix that.

George was almost asking
for advice from Tricia

to better his marriage.

He would tell her
how he would try

to get close
with Tia physically,

and that Tia would
push him away.

[Tricia speaking]

What was causing the problems
in this marriage?

Maybe Tim,
who was jealous of George,

wanted everything
his friend had, including Tia.

And what about Tricia?

She could be trying to comfort
George in his troubles.

[officer speaking]

[Tricia speaking]

The more we spoke with Tricia,

obviously we wanted
to figure out

if it was more
than just a friendship.

[Willie] I know that
he was close to her.

She also was married.

Now, outside looking in,
someone would probably say,

"Oh, it could be a little
hanky-panky going on here."

[officer speaking]

- [Tricia speaking]
- [officer] Okay.

[officer speaking]

[Tricia speaking]

[officer] Okay.

[female officer speaking]

[Tricia speaking]

[officer speaking] Okay.

[Tricia speaking]

[officer speaking]

- [Tricia speaking]
- [officer] Okay.

Tia's turning to Tim,
and George leans on Tricia.

This is an explosive
combination.

Resentment, attraction,
and jealousy.

Who was involved with who?

And was someone angry enough

to violently disrupt
this foursome?

Tricia is very adamant

that there is no
romantic involvement,

no physical involvement,

that basically
they're just simply friends.

[officer speaking]

[Tricia speaking]

We ultimately never uncovered
any evidence on phones

or anything like that

that would indicate that
it was more than a friendship.

I didn't see anything
suspicious about it

because I know that
that's not what George did.

I stand on the character

that I know of the man,
George Young.

[Tony] Back in 2017, I was the
bureau chief for WSB-TV,

covering Gwinnett County.

We got word late
in the morning

that Tia Young and her family
would like to talk.

It's the hardest thing
I've ever been through.

[Tony] George's wife, Tia,

says she was asleep upstairs
around midnight

when she heard two gunshots.
Her brother went outside.

And he said, "Just call 911."

I said, "What is it?
Was somebody shot?"

He said, "Yes."
And I said, "Who?"

And he said, "George."

Very emotional interview.

Tia was bursting into tears
at several times,

talking about how kind
her husband was,

how nobody had any ill will
towards her husband,

and how hard of a
worker he was.

He was a really good guy.
Everybody loved George.

They appeared to be
a family struggling

to come to grasp
with what was going on.

The next day, we had brought
Tia and Tim in

for a formal interview

at Gwinnett County
Police Headquarters

to get a little bit more
information from them about

what had transpired that night

and what they think
may have happened to George.

One thing police immediately
confronted the two about,

"Why are you
living in this house,

calling each other
brother and sister,

when you're not
related at all?"

[Stacy]
Police certainly have reason to question Tim and Tia

about what's going on
between them.

But it's not impossible that
people who grew up together

are now living in the
same household

in a platonic relationship.

[female officer speaking]

[female officer speaking]

[female officer speaking]

[female officer] Okay.

Tim and Tia said that
they were just so close,

they insisted several times
to police,

nothing was going on
between them.

[male officer speaking]

Then detectives confront Tim
about the neighbor

who saw a man
basically crawling up

and fiddling under the truck
for some reason.

That's when Tim admits,
"Yeah, that was me."

He says George
had confided in him

that he was worried

that he may be in danger
in some way.

So with George's knowledge,

Tim had purchased
a GPS tracker

and placed it under
George's back bumper.

[male officer speaking]

[male officer speaking]

[male officer] Mmm-hmm.

So when detectives
asked him about

why he would be concerned
about George's safety,

Tim drops a bombshell.

[male officer] Mmm-hmm.

So, uh...

And that's when Tim took
this long sigh and said,

"Are you ready to hear
the real truth?"

[whispers]

Tim told us that
George wasn't the George

that we had kind of grown
to know in the investigation.

[bleep]

When we spoke with him
about why he was keeping

that a secret for him...

Tim essentially tells police
that he has kept these sort of secrets

from everyone
to maintain George's pristine reputation

within the community,
to maintain his persona

within his family
and those that he knew.

Of course, Tim's story
has the opposite effect

of what he intended.

Instead of convincing police

to chase
the supposed gun runner,

the story makes them
zero in on Tim himself.

[Dana] During
the initial investigation,

we had obtained
a search warrant for the residence

of Tia and Georgia.

And at that time,
we were able to retrieve

a firearm from Tim's bedroom
and we also located

a rifle inside of his truck.

We were able to determine
that the shell casing

that was located on scene
was shot from

a Smith and Wesson
.40 caliber handgun.

But there was no such gun
found in the residence.

And so we were
missing our murder weapon in this case.

But after learning about
the tracking device,

we got a secondary
search warrant

to go back into the house.

[Tony] They found
that tracking device

hidden in one of
the bedrooms.

They also found
both the cell phones

of Tim Lee and Tia Young.

The police began expanding
their investigation.

And that included
talking to co-workers of George Young,

which also happened to be
co-workers of Tim Lee in many cases.

[Sabrina] The police learned
that the next day

after the murder,
Tim actually shows up

at the security company
where George worked.

He begins to speak with
several different co-workers.

[Willie] Within eight hours
of George's death,

he was the guy who
proceeded to tell me that George was murdered.

That's how I found out.

So he went on to tell me
the sequence of the events.

He said he tried to render
first aid to him

and that he didn't make it.

[Sabrina] What's odd is
that Tim is still wearing

the exact same clothing
that he had on the day before

and has no blood
on the clothing whatsoever,

even after telling
the co-workers

that he had done CPR
and that there was blood all over the scene.

[Dana] The co-workers
found that strange.

And not only that,
he's already trying to

go and take jobs from George.

[Willie] Tim said,
"I wanted to know if I could still be working here."

So I told him, well,
listen, man, this ain't the right time

for me to have
that discussion.

[Dana] Tim was asking
about stepping in for George

which we just thought
was way too soon.

An autopsy was performed
by the medical examiner's office on the body

of George Young.

The autopsy revealed that
George had in fact been shot twice,

but what it also revealed

was that contrary
to what Tim had said,

that there was no indication
that CPR had been performed on George Young.

[Rob] After the murder,
I was trying to spend

as much time as I could
at the house with Tia

supporting the family
and being there for the boys.

And she said,
"Before you go,

can you please come upstairs
and help me find

the life insurance policy?"

It was weird to me,
out of all the things

that could be
going through her head,

that she wants me
to go upstairs and try to find

a life insurance policy.

So there we are, digging,

and it appeared like
she knew exactly where to find it.

So then she calls
and then she starts

asking about the policy
and she was stating,

"Oh, it's that much?
How fast can I get it?"

[Tony] Turns out
this life insurance

was a whopping
one million dollars

and that Tia was
the sole beneficiary of this.

[Rob] Tia seemed
a bit giddy and said,

"When this money comes in,
it's gonna change everything."

[Stacy] A million dollars
is a lot of money for anyone.

The question is,
did Tim know in advance about the policy?

And was he the one
who convinced Tia that they should try to cash it?

[Dana] We were ultimately
able to get a search warrant

on Tim and Tia's phones
and get a forensic download done.

Cellphones can provide
a mirror to our hearts.

In this case, they certainly
have the potential

to reveal the secrets
that are hidden

in this seemingly happy home.

When the forensic examination
of their phones

come back to detectives,

the detectives confirm
what they had always suspected

about the relationship between
Tia and Tim.

We quickly were able to
determine that

everything they told us
up until this point was a lie.

That they were in an intimate,
sexual relationship.

It was clear as night and day
that there was an affair going on.

They were talking about
their intimacy

and what they're gonna
do to each other and all of that.

[Dana] They tried to
cover their tracks.

They had tried to
delete their messages,

but we spent hours
going back until we found

that they, in fact, had been
in a sexual relationship for quite some time.

[Tony] Investigators suspect
that Tim was partially trying to track his friend.

So Tim and Tia
would be surprised at home

when they're off having
their secret affair.

But looking back on it,
friends noticed some suspicious things going on.

The sons,
friends who'd come over

talked about many times
seeing Tia

in Tim's bedroom
with the door shut.

[Stacy] You can see
how this happened.

Tia resented George
for always being away.

She could've seduced Tim
so he would help her escape her marriage.

Or Tim, who had envied
his best friend's perfect life

could've seduced Tia
to get back at George.

[Sabrina] On Tia's phone,
the police actually find

a meme of a fortune teller
who is telling a woman

that your husband will meet
a violent death.

And the woman's response
in the meme is,

"Will I get convicted?"

That indicated that she knew
what was gonna happen.

And so, that's something
that we found very alarming.

After locating
all of this evidence

on Tim and Tia's phone,
we knew we needed to bring them back in

and sit down with
both of them again.

If you can talk to Tim
and I'll be back with you, okay?

Sure.

[Dana] We had
a long conversation

with Tia that day
in regards to, kind of, everything.

And towards the end
of that conversation,

we wanted to also
confront her

with evidence we found
in regards to her and Tim's relationship.

[detective speaking]

[Dana] We actually, physically
had printed off the emails

and just put them
in front of Tia

and let her read her own
sexually explicit email that she had sent

and she then finally
admitted it to us.

[Dana] But she still claims
it had nothing to do with the murder.

That's not the reason
that George died.

When we sat down with Tim,
we confronted him

with the evidence
of the emails

that we had uncovered
in his phone,

specifically in regards to
him and Tia's relationship.

[Tony] At that point,
Tim Lee immediately

asked for a lawyer
and refused to talk anymore.

He didn't have a way
of getting out of this one.

[Sabrina] In April of 2018,
both Tia and Tim are arrested,

each charged
with malice murder,

felony murder
and aggravated assault.

Both Tia and Tim
enter pleas of not guilty

and a judge denies
both of them, bond.

[Stacy] Police have the proof
that the two were lovers.

But an affair doesn't
always lead to murder.

Who came up with the idea

to get rid of the other member
of their love triangle?

[Dana] Tim and Tia's trial
began in March of 2019

and we as investigators

as well as
the district attorney's office

asked ourselves
prior to the trial,

how did this happen?
Why did this happen to George?

[Rob] Tia definitely started
feeling a little disenchanted

in the marriage
and when Tim showed up,

she figured this would be
her best opportunity

to get out of the marriage.

[Dana] I think that Tia
took advantage of Tim,

that he was willing to
do whatever she wanted

and I think that
she absolutely

convinced him
to pull the trigger

and killer her husband George.

She knew George had
that million dollar life insurance policy.

And she also knew that
she had feelings for Tim.

And she started to
talk to Tim

about possibilities
and give him false promises

of basically him
becoming George.

[Rob] I've had a pretty decent
relationship with Tia

to know what kind of person
that she is.

But I knew her enough
to tell you

that Tim was not bright enough
to put this thing together.

Tia's definitely responsible
for putting this whole thing together.

[Sabrina] At trial,
one of Tia and George's sons

testified that he had
in the past,

had taken some sleeping aids
to help him sleep.

On the night of November 16th,
he was, in fact,

given that
sleeping medication.

And so, that explained to me
as an investigator as to

why those kids were so
peacefully sleeping upstairs

and sleeping
through the sirens

and sleeping through
all the commotion

that was happening downstairs.

As a mother,
you would hope that it's

maybe because
she didn't want her children to be traumatized.

But I feel in my heart that
it was more so that

she didn't want her children
to jeopardize the plan that she had in place.

We'll never really know
what exactly happened that night,

but with the evidence
and the testimony,

we're able to, kind of,
piece together

a pretty good timeline
of the events that occurred.

[Sabrina] The state felt that
Tim was sitting there

at the table and he was
very closely monitoring

the movements of George Young
as he was traveling home.

He was watching the tracker
and he was able to determine

the exact time that
George would arrive home.

He essentially waited
for George to come up

to the door
and ambushed George

by shooting him two times.

[Dana] At that point,
Tim then probably

tried to find
both shell casings

knowing that there were two,
but could only find one.

The shell casing that
we actually located

was tucked in the stairway
groove a little bit,

so he probably
did not see that.

But he knew
he didn't have time,

so, he then
stepped over George,

went and retrieved
that tracker

from George's car
and then began to

try to clean up the evidence
the best he could before police arrival.

[Tony] Police realized
there was a ten minute gap

between the shots being fired
and the 911 call.

[Dana] I imagine that
they were finding a place

to put the murder weapon,
getting rid of that evidence,

but also making sure
that they were

getting their story straight
the best they could

before they actually dialed
that 911 call.

The murder weapon
has never been found to this day.

I think that Tim took
that murder weapon

and disposed of it somewhere
in their backyard area.

In April of 2019,
after a two week joint trial,

Tia Young is found guilty
of felony murder,

aggravated assault
and two counts of criminal attempt

to tamper with evidence.

But she is found not guilty
of one count of malice murder.

On April 15th of 2019,
Tia Young is sentenced

to life in prison with
the possibility of parole.

She will be eligible
for parole in 2049,

at the age of 73.

Harvey Timothy Lee
is convicted of malice murder,

felony murder
and aggravated assault.

Tim is sentenced to life
without the possibility of parole

and he will spend
the rest of his life in prison.

Throughout the whole trial,
this guy didn't have no remorse.

He showed zero,
and I mean zero empathy

at all, not an ounce.

Tia had no remorse.

No facial expression,
no nothing.

She didn't even look sad.

It's a lot of mixed emotions
at the time,

but one thing is clear.

George wasn't gonna
walk in that court room.

George wasn't gonna
show up somewhere.

He was not coming back.

A little short time
after the murder,

George's sisters had
approached me and said,

we should really try to
do something

in memory of George

and so we created the George
F Young III Foundation.

This foundation help children
who are victims of

parents or family members
who'd been murdered.

[Tony] George was betrayed,
and not just by a good friend,

but betrayed
by his own spouse.

[Sabrina] Seduction
can be overpowering

and I think that
that was the tool that Tia used

in order to get Tim

to assassinate
his best friend.

[Rob] The people who you love
can betray you

and the people that you trust
can come back and hurt you.

I will continue
to share this story

about George Young
until the day I die.

I miss you, brother.

There's not a day
that goes by

that I don't think about you.

The firefighters found the
remains of a body.

What would be the motive for
this? Could it be revenge?
