been struggling

for the past few days
with energy and stuff,

days of this is really gonna...

I love the balance that we
have when we work together,

do anything that I can

I mean, she's had
five partners leave her.

I'm the last and only partner
that has stuck it out with her.

So, it's really important for
me to be by her side at the end.

I'd like to take a break on this

because while extraction

is so close, we still
have three more days.

And it's just gonna muster us a lot
of energy to continue this challenge.

And I know that we're building
each other up and we can do it.

It's just really
taxing on our bodies.

Like I can feel every
beat in my chest.

is a really important to me

'cause it's the first time I'll
ever have 40 days in the jungle.

I had a really hard struggles
last year in Louisiana

and having to leave
really hurt my heart.

So, I'm glad to be given the
opportunity to have my redemption.

And this is it.

I'm gonna push my limits
every day with these guys.

to find some different protein

It's a marathon.
It's not a sprint.

So, you need to make sure that you're
keeping enough stores for the second half.

general, a lot of food

to give us the
power to really thrive.

These fish aren't gonna do it.

maybe 100 some feet up a tree.

Those are protruding
chunks of meat.

and visibility is good.

At this point, it's become like a
personal challenge with these birds

because they go sit
in the tree and make

the loudest sound
in the whole Amazon.

You want to take a big
bird down with a bow?

First, you better get
damn good with the bow.

Second, you better get
damn good at hunting.

[Matt] What I want to accomplish
is a feast for everybody.

it's almost like a death trap
to try to... try to swim through.

looks at all plucked out.

And we are about to eat a
fantastic horn screamer stew.

We've had it before.

And I'll tell you what, it
is absolutely delicious.

We'll smoke it for
a couple of hours

and then get some flame sear
on the outside and then stew.

Stew it up for a
few hours until done.

This is survival, man. This
is what we come out here for.

All right, so, we
lightly roasted

and smoked this
bird over the fire.

And what it's gonna do here,
it's gonna have a little bird,

the bird, a little smoky flavor.

But also, it's a... it's gonna
be going in the pot, so.

It's gonna just be that
little extra that we needed.

- Got our stuff.

Saw a big caiman
out there yesterday.

I got one large hook left, the
other one I left at my other camp.

But we're gonna
get a caiman, guys.

[EJ] We're gonna
kill something today.

Then we're gonna eat.

It's a mile and a half
down a mile and a half back

just to the nearest
fishing spot.

That's not sustainable
in my experience.

We need a big meal.

So today we're heading
to get a big caiman.

I need to put good vibes for
that caiman line and pray over it.

I'm a badass girl.

I'll jump on the back of the
caiman and rip its head off.

I wrestled a ton of alligators.

I killed eight large gators in
my life, hooked seven of them.

And I can tell you what, I have
the skill set. That's why I'm here.

And that's why I brought
it here to this team.

[Steven] You want to rig it up?

Sure, I can go out
there and rig it up.

[Amber] We got a ton of
rope, so I should be okay.

[EJ] That's a good
spot for you to battle.

[Steven] It's great spot 'cause
it overhangs right in the middle.

And it's... we can get
in there and deal with it.

[Amber] I'm using this 80
pound test line braided together.

So hopefully this caiman
doesn't rip my line with their teeth.

This would be a blessing.

Grab the bait and
then we're good to go.

[Steven] It's like
caiman bait to me.

That looks yummy.
Barbs out, two fish heads.

[Steven] We got some really good,
bloody gross armored catfish heads.

We got some Oscar heads.

The grosser the better when it
comes to these caiman, they love that.

[EJ] Steven and Amber are going
out there, putting out our caiman hook.

I'm not liking
this tree, though,

'cause last year I was out on
a tree just as similar like this.

It broke. I fell in the water,
I speared my testicles.

[EJ grunts]

[EJ] Oh. Oh, I got speared.

[Steven] When he breaks that, makes
sure he has plenty of slack to go swimming.

[Amber] I know. I'm on it.

[EJ] Here, take this one.
Break it to the size you need.

[Steven] You're

- [EJ] There's quite a bit. About six feet.

or however much we have.

That way he can grab it and
run and wrap himself up in it.

the hook, Amber's feeding him

and I'm feeding out line, making sure
we got about 20 some odd feet of slack

and I'm gonna anchor it.

- Trigger set.

I've got 32 gators
that I've taken.

Been down this road.

We're gonna get some
down in this jungle.

[Steven] I'm seeing some
aggravation and some tension

with EJ and Amber.

We're all equals out here. I
don't need a micromanage.

We're all professionals.

We've all done this time or two.

- Yeah.

[Amber] To come on
a challenge for 60 days,

it's incredibly easy
to get frustrated

with anybody out
here in survival mode.

You know, you really have
to pick your battles out here.

[EJ speaking]

[Amber] Trigger
mechanism set here.

Perfect height, brother.
I think we crushed it.

We need space to
do battle with him.

Well, we're gonna come up with
a plan if we catch one for sure.

Yeah. Haul him in. Kill
him. Put him on the plate.

[Birds screeching]

[Matt] Right. We've got the
horn screamer here in the pot.

It's been probably
3 hours cooking.

Well, it's been 2
hours smoking first.

The aroma. It's
just like a turkey.

Oh.

- Wow.
- Delicious. It's screaming with flavor.

- Oh, my god.
- [Matt] But, yes.

I have no idea what that is. I think
it's like the top of the drumstick.

Some sort of deliciousness, some
smoke through it, some fat through it.

Warm. It's juicy.

[Dan] Yeah. That smoke
penetrated in there good.

[Matt] I feel happy. I feel
motivated, and I got food in my belly.

We're gonna be filled. We're
gonna have a calorie reset.

We're gonna feel
like it's two weeks ago.

Oh, man.

Smoky good.

I think I found the perfect Y

for one of our first paddles.

Nice.

[Jen] It should be long enough.

And I think the Y should be
the right size for a paddle, I hope.

[Trish] Tomorrow we
are setting sail on a raft.

So now we're making
paddles. It's the last thing.

So, this is the stick
Jen's been working on.

And we are gonna
put some vine in there,

and we're gonna weave
this whole section here

and make a little paddles.

And here's Amber's
bed, all disassembled

and take some of these vines off

and start weaving them into
my paddle and Jen's paddle.

[Jen] Today is day 39
and we are so close.

I'm just excited 'cause
it's tangible, you know,

it's almost like three time the time of
what I've done in a previous challenge.

And so, I know
I'll be really proud.

Looking pretty good.

I really like how
this turned out.

I think the cordage
and the weaving

is really strong and
will work great out there.

There is a storm brewing, the
likes of which I have not seen

since I've been out here.

[Dan] It's raining down there.

It just started downpouring.

get cocky about doing 60 days.

we've got a huge rain storm

coming in right now, so.

It's getting our

The Amazon is ruthless out here.

Well after midnight going
about 7 hours of storming.

down in buckets.

It is pitch black
and pouring outside.

feel like we were in a bar brawl.

of storms last night.

up, it did not stop raining.

intertwined and just go on forever.

So, it's not gonna be easy.

But Jen and I, we will make

the 40 days to the finish line.

And especially with that
open part in the channel,

I'm thinking that we
head out that way,

so we just have to dig
through all this hyacinth

and venture down

I started as a fan
and I wasn't sure

what would come out
of these challenges.

But if I can get
through this extraction

and complete this
40 day challenge,

that would be a
huge accomplishment.

fortitude that I knew I had.

for a long-term solution

to what our food situation is.

Because in my experience
and I've been through this a lot,

you know, where
we're currently at,

sure, if we have to walk to get
the fish, we're going to do that.

But at this point in the game especially
with my partners about two weeks ahead of me

I don't believe it's
gonna be sustainable.

We're expending a lot of calories
going down and coming back.

And what we catch in fish,

we're just putting back in
our system what we just used.

So we're never getting any
gains, never getting ahead,

and we're not gonna
be able to keep that up.

looking out into the unknown
and hoping for a win like this.

I'll never forget today

the day we got the caiman.

How much do you think he weighs?

Probably 90 pounds.

Yeah, I would've guessed 100.

Hundred pounds maybe. Yeah.

We could do this,
this is... there you go.

So this is about 40
pounds of food here.

This is 40 pounds of
pure protein and fat.

We're three hungry dudes.

All right, let's grab some
of this cordage here.

Gonna tie him up in the
tree so we can process him.

This is exactly... exactly
what I needed moving forward.

What we all needed.

He's long.

That's a 6' 6" caiman, easy.

Even though this caiman,
it's probably about 100 pounds,

I would say it's maybe
going to last about six days.

We could extend it.

But when you extend
it, you take the risk.

And that risk is not
always worth the reward,

because if we extend it and that
meat goes bad, then that's wasted meat.

So we have to eat as
much as we possibly can

to make sure that
this environment,

with all this humidity and
everything doesn't spoil that meat.

Waz, you could use my knife
just kind of for this first part

just because it is your
first time, it's mine as well.

And you should both be able
to kind of just keep your hand in,

you know, where you won't
cut each other, of course.

And then when you go to
cut it, use it at like this angle.

There you go, like that. Yep.

Luckily, Matt has a ton of experience
cleaning gators and related species,

so he knows right
away how to butcher this

and how to use all the part of
it and not waste a damn thing.

The only way I know
how to do a challenge,

I think, is to have
massive amounts of meat

and, you know, figure out how
to preserve it and consume it.

So I've learned a lot
in these challenges

that there's various
steps you have to follow.

Parts of the meat can be
processed and turned into jerky.

That's gonna be, you know,
the tail, some of the back.

Then there's gonna be other
parts like with the neck bone

as well as kind of
the hip bone section.

Those have to be in a stew pot.

But in between that,
you've got the organs,

the liver, and the heart
are going to saute that

and have some
fried liver, fried heart.

And after that, you're just
gonna have a ton of jerky up top.

What about that
meat chandelier, boys?

You guys kept saying you
wanted a meat chandelier.

There it is.

We're just living it up
in the shelter right now.

This is absolutely amazing.

This is a caiman leg, people.

And this should
be sold everywhere.

We're thriving.

We've had a heck of a heck of
a double whammy on this one.

Had a horn screamer, and bam,

get a 6 1/2 foot caiman
full of fat, full of protein.

And out here in the
Amazon, survival is good.

There are so many little things

that I've been
wanting to get to,

just like little quick things that
I haven't had the energy for.

Just been like wasting
away and doing the priorities.

But after yesterday and today, I
have so much energy right now.

Would could homestead
this place a little bit, you know?

it needs a couple
comforting touches.

I've got an abundance of
calories, abundance of energy,

and now we actually have time to do
some of the stuff we've been putting off,

I've been wanting to build a
treehouse overlooking the water,

to support a frame
before lying down

the smaller logs to
complete the raised platform.

It's not gonna get
us any calories back,

but at the same point in
time it'll give us a place

that we can rest and just
recharge a little bit and just get us

in a nice mental
mindset to push through

and do the jobs we've got to do.

So, I'm looking for
some Y branches,

but some tall ones that are
gonna be about shoulder height

that I can start building
this treehouse with.

That's the perfect
size right there.

We don't want to
just survive out here,

we want to thrive, and
we don't want to just thrive.

We want to thrive in luxury.

We're making life
comfortable for ourselves.

We're doing it in style.

Yeah. It's not going anywhere.

Just looking for the best points

that I could just
slide something in,

and it will just sit there.
Even though this is moving,

what I can do is I can strap
both of these together really tight.

And then a branch will
just sit it here perfectly.
