You know, I’ve hosted this show
many times in the past,

but I feel truly honored that
I’ve been asked to come back

on such a special occasion,

the 40th anniversary
of this amazing tradition.

I had this on my bucket list,

and I know that some
of the global superstars

that have performed
on this show over the years,

they’ve had this
on their bucket list as well.

And speaking of superstars,

I’m talking Ariana Grande,
the Jonas Brothers,

Sting, even Beyoncé.

And honestly,
I could keep going.

I know we don’t have that kind
of time, so guess what?

We’re celebrating
some of those great moments

from over the years,
and here’s one of my favorites

from when I hosted back in 2018,
to kick us all off.

This artist grew up coming
to the park with her family,

and now she brings her kids here
every single year during the holidays.

But this was definitely
a magical moment

far beyond even
her wildest dreams.

She arrived like a princess
riding in Cinderella’s coach,

and she performed
an all-time classic

in front of Sleeping Beauty’s
Winter Castle

right here
at Disneyland Resort.

Here’s three-time
Grammy Award-winning,

multi-platinum-selling,
global superstar

and friend of the show,
Gwen Stefani.

Gwen always knocks it
out of Disney Park.

And since she grew up practically
down the street from Disneyland Resort,

you’d be hard-pressed
to find a bigger Disney fan.

to Neil Patrick Harris,
we had some extremely big shoes to fill.

And how awesome is it
that we get to celebrate

the 40th anniversary
of this great show

during the Disney100
celebration?

And because we love
anniversaries so much,

we’ve got a special treat
just for you.

In September of 1982,

the finishing touches
were being put on Epcot Center,

and it was about to open.

And they said, "We want
to do a parade live on ABC

on Christmas Day.
Would you host it?"

I said, "Sure."

And on Christmas, 1983,

we did the very first...

Oh, a very Merry Christmas,
everybody.

It was called
"The Very Merry Christmas Parade."

I was the host
for almost 15 years.

We’ve been doing this parade now
for six years,

and I think you’ll agree
it’s getting better each year.

It was always fun.
It was always the most fun job

you could ever ask for.

If you are going to host
the Disney parade,

don’t be there to report on it.

Be there to embrace the magic,

’cause it is so special.

That is what you want
to give to the viewers at home

so that, as they sit
in their living room,

that they can kind of have
that childlike, magical feel.

We are kicking off
the 40th anniversary

of this spectacular show,

and being here
at Magic Kingdom Park on Christmas Day

with all of you,
experiencing the parade,

is a huge part of what makes
this tradition so special.

And here comes
our first float right now.

Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse
welcome us home for the holidays

as they host a party
for some of our dearest friends.

I remember watching
the Christmas Parade growing up,

and now I watch it every
Christmas morning with my son,

so being here today makes me

probably the coolest mom
on the planet.

Ooh, look.
There is Mary Poppins.

She has been creating
Disney magic

since the movie premiered
in 1964.

And that tree is spectacular,
12 feet tall.

And you may not know this,

but you can actually smell
the pine scent

as the tree goes by.

Now, back to you, Julianne.

This Christmas Day celebration
is going to a whole other level,

because an Emmy and two-time
Golden Globe nominee is here

to take the stage.

You might recognize her
from the hit series This Is Us.

Here to perform
the Christmas classic "Silver Bells,"

it’s Chrissy Metz.

is the longest-running Christmas
morning special currently on the air.

Performers on the show
have won a total

of 204 Grammy Awards,

and two are even Rock & Roll
Hall of Fame members,

Stevie Wonder and Sting.

The Disney Christmas Day Parade
has been hosted

by 46 remarkable people
over the last 40 years,

including Ryan Seacrest,
Kermit the Frog,

and the beloved Suzanne Somers.

The holidays bring out
the best in us

and remind us that we have
so much to be grateful for.

And I really am so grateful
for you, sis, truly.

And I love hosting the show
with you every single year.

Family is what the holiday
is all about,

and right now you’re gonna meet
a very special family

with an inspiring story.

Take a look.

My name is Jason Smith.

Father to three amazing boys.

Tayveon, Ireon, and Tayvon.

My dad grew up
in Demopolis, Alabama.

Just like you would see on TV,
a proud papa, that was our daddy.

We really were inseparable,

and when I got the news
that he had passed,

it was pretty devastating.

As a son,
the fact that I was not able

to provide him with grandkids
in his lifetime started to sink in.

I was really compelled
to do something about that.

I’m doing the brownies.

The purpose of fostering

is just to temporarily
house kids

until they can return
back to their birth parents.

But there are instances,
unfortunately,

where the children
can’t go home,

so they are eligible
for adoption.

He said, "I’m looking into it."

Next thing, I get a screenshot
of these three little boys.

And he says, "I’m getting ready
to meet them."

All three of ’em?

They run in, and the questions
just start firing.

"Are you our new dad?
Can I have your hat?"

He takes my hat off my head.

I’m like, "What?"

He was like, "I got approved.
They’re moving in."

I said, "They’re moving in?"

I told Jason it moved
really, really swiftly

because of your character.

God is in this plan.

He got something special
for you.

The boys were at five
different foster homes

and on a pretty
strict regiment.

Jason, he’s trying
to break ’em out of it

to say, "Run outside.
Go ride your bike.

You’re home."

It’s nice to know
we never need to move again,

’cause this is the place
that is right for us.

What is the one word
you think of when you think of Papa J?

Our dad.

Our protector.

Also our dad.

Ooh, and...

our savior.

We’re here in my house
in Las Vegas.

with Jason’s friends and family.

We’re all here to surprise them
with a cruise from Disney.

We couldn’t be happier
for him and the kids.

little guy I have ever met,

Olaf. Look at that smile.

Frozen is one of the most
popular Disney films ever.

I can’t believe
it’s been ten years

since that movie premiered.

Its message of self-love
and sisterhood is really wonderful.

Not to mention
all the awesome songs.

Now here comes
Anna and Kristoff.

I just love their story.

but the first time, I would say,
was the most magical.

really put it into words

what it’s like to see so many
iconic Disney characters,

dance troupes, marching bands,

people lining the streets.

It’s just a slice
of Disney magic.

I have so many favorite moments

from hosting this show
over the years.

Too many to name.

Always the performances

were so big and spectacular

with the costumes,
with the lighting,

with the confetti,

the songs that are so iconic.

Seeing it all put together,

it’s more than one
singular moment.

It’s just the totality
of how great it is.

This one is for all of you
with a sweet tooth out there.

Check out Vanellope

from one of my personal Disney faves,
Wreck-It Ralph,

riding down Main Street, U.S.A.,
in her custom gingerbread car.

Nice wheels, Vanellope.

And here comes everybody’s
favorite BFFs, Chip and Dale.

Chip ’n’ Dale
made their first appearance

in the 1943 cartoon short,
Private Pluto,

although we didn’t actually
learn their names

until four years later.

Looks like they’ve been
hard at work,

cooking up some delicious treats
for Christmas morning.

I hope I see them
later today in the park

so I can get a selfie with them.

Clarice’s candy house
looks delicious!

If I lived there,
I would eat the ribbon candy,

the chocolate chip cookies,

and the candy canes,
all in that order.

We would have to do
renovations daily.

Clarabelle is mixing
some gingerbread cookies,

and she’s got
all the ingredients

for her secret recipe
right there in her bake shop.

I can literally smell
those cookies baking.

Delicious.

The Candy Cane Girls
are working it!

Those outfits are fab!

Oh, and look, there’s Goofy
getting some cardio

and powering the candy factory
all at the same time.

That guy is talented.

Did you know that Goofy
stands six feet tall

and wears a size
18 and a half shoe?

He is one of the most beloved
Disney characters.

Every great attraction

And the story
of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

takes place after the events
of The Princess and the Frog.

Princess Tiana
is a character.

However, she comes
from a very real place

and a very real culture.

One of the things
we paid a lot of attention to

is trying to be as authentic
to New Orleans as possible.

How do we bring
the magic of New Orleans

into this experience?

This is a physical model tool
that we use

as a part of our design process.

And you can see
it’s very representative

of what the guests
will experience.

The way that this is designed,
the queue is part of the story.

They’ll hear period music
of New Orleans

from the late ’20s.

We’re privileged
to have Terence Blanchard

and PJ Morton helping us
with the music,

both of them from New Orleans.

I think people gonna
be tapping their feet

and snapping their fingers.

Once we’re in the bayou,
even more magic happens.

This is an exciting time
for our company

to have this attraction
open up on both coasts.

Here comes the Seven Dwarfs.

And you know when you see
the Dwarfs,

Snow White is not far behind.

I need an entourage like that.

And I’m pretty sure
I’d call them the Guyton Gang.

Yes, I’ve been working
on that name for a while.

Snow White is part
of the original

three Disney princesses:

Snow White, Cinderella,
and Sleeping Beauty.

And there she is now
with her prince,

and it looks like
they’re doing the waltz.

Very classy.

I used to love those stories
growing up, and I still do.

And now I get to share them
with my son

along with the stories of some
of the other Disney royalty.

And I think I see another
Disney princess right now.

Could it be? Is it she?

Why, yes, it’s Cinderella
and Prince Charming

heading to a royal holiday ball.

I guess my invitation
got lost in the mail.

It’s all good, though.

I don’t have anything
to wear, anyway.

Wait, I think I misspoke.

It looks like the ball
is coming to us.

And nothing says royal ball
like 12 waltzing dancers.

Oh, and the castle
is so beautiful,

and it’s fit
for all Disney royalty.

There’s Belle and the Beast,
Rapunzel and Flynn,

Ariel, Eric, Aurora,
Phillip, Tiana, Naveen,

and my personal favorite,
Fairy Godmother.

Fairy Godmother, I have
some wishes that need granting,

fairy tales from my childhood

come to life
here at Walt Disney World.

This is definitely one Christmas
I’ll never forget.

I’m Wayne Brady,

former host of Disney Parks
Magical Christmas Day Parade.

As someone that grew up
in Orlando, Florida,

I grew up a couple miles away
from Disney World,

and was a former cast member
in the parks,

it was a dream of mine

to be able to host the parade.

It’s still one of the bucket list moments
of my life.

I’m gonna go ahead
and hang out with the monsters.

Back to you guys.

My favorite Disney memory
is when I was cast

in the Disney Christmas Parade.

I’ll never forget it. I still
remember some of the routine.

It was amazing.

And I think that’s one
of the times in my life

when I saw the magic
that Disney has

and that the holiday has,
and that, as a performer,

that you can bring to people.

I knew that this
was what I was gonna do

for the rest of my life.

In 2013, we kicked off
the Christmas show

with Neil Patrick Harris,
Nick Cannon, and R2-D2.

That’s right, we went
interplanetary that year.

And we had some of the biggest
pop superstars performing,

but there was one unforgettable duet
you just have to see.

There’s a total
of 25 Grammy Awards

between these two performers,

and I promise
after you watch this,

you’re gonna be wondering
why they don’t have any more.

So here’s a look back
at these two icons

at Disneyland Resort
during the holidays.

It’s the incredible
David Foster and Mary J. Blige

with the classic, "Have Yourself
a Merry Little Christmas."

The magic doesn’t stop.

Michael Bolton brings us joy
at Christmas.

My name is Enrrique Garcia.

I’m nine years old.

And I am the Diabetic Superkid.

This helps me track
my glucose levels.

-Okay. You just have to hear that click,

and then it’s all done.

We had to do a lot of research

when we found out
that he got diagnosed

with type 1 diabetes.

At first, when I was diagnosed,

I was really sad,
because I thought

I couldn’t really eat
the things that I wanted to.

We tell him all the time,

"Everything you want to do,
we can do it."

We just have to be
a little more responsible

with things that we eat.

Gracias.

Cooking is a big part
of diabetes.

Like, knowing how
to balance things.

This is an added responsibility

that you have.

Today, we’re making
tortas de milanesa.

In my Instagram,
I cook for my diabuddies.

"Dia" for "diabetic,"
and "buddies" for his followers.

He says, "They’re not followers.
They’re my buddies."

They’re his support group.

I like to show them

what they can make
step-by-step.

And I bet
they’re gonna love it.

My favorite thing about cooking
is raising awareness.

He’s learning
as much as he can.

He’s teaching other people.

And he’s just thriving
off of it.

I’m showing all my diabuddies

that diabetes is my superpower,
’cause it didn’t make me weaker.

It made me stronger.

They look up to him.
Like, that’s just amazing to me.

He is the Diabetic Superkid,
after all.

Enrrique thinks that we’re gonna
be having a family movie night.

We love movies.
We love family movie nights.

But he’s actually finding out

that we’re going to Disneyland.
We can’t wait.

What’s your favorite attraction
since you’ve been here at Disneyland?

I like Haunted Mansion.

And I also love Space Mountain,

because Haunted Mansion
is a little bit spooky.

And Space Mountain,
it goes really fast.

It goes really fast.
Space Mountain’s actually

my favorite roller coaster
in the entire world.

So we’re together on that.
And finally, how does it feel

for you to be spending
the holidays here at Disneyland?

What’s so special about it?

It’s special to me,

because I get to spend time

with my family.

I also get to cook
with the chef.

I also get
an interview with you.

And also, I get to also
explore the park.

This has been special for me,
