on those dolls.

..but unearth more
than they bargained for.

Thing touched me.

are capturing the unexplainable

of evidence,

I get really excited

because it's putting one more
piece of the puzzle together.

I'm open minded
to the possibility

but, as a hardcore sceptic,

I will always turn to
the natural explanations first.

I've been a medium all my life,

I was born this way.

I think there's so many things
that we don't yet know,

we don't understand and we don't
have enough knowledge about.

I've got well over
20 years' experience

in the paranormal field
and, as a technical investigator,

I've seen, heard
and experienced things

that are truly unexplainable.

Unexplained: Caught On Camera.

This episode begins
in the Atlantic Ocean,

50 miles off the coast
of Massachusetts in the USA.

On board a trawler
is commercial fisherman, Ryun.

I've been commercial fishing
for about five years now.

I love my job,
there's no other job like it.

As someone who gets horrifically
seasick and terrified of the sea,

this is my absolute idea
of hell, already.

I've always thought there was,
like,

something in the ocean
we didn't know about.

What I've seen with my own eyes
and caught on camera

has changed my life.

One night, Ryun heads out to sea

entirely unaware
of what's waiting for him.

It was a normal day,

I got a call from the captain
of the boat I was working on.

He said, "We are going to be
leaving, you know, at 10PM."

But it was very foggy.

We couldn't see, like,
two feet in front of us.

And, all of a sudden,
I start hearing these noises.

What's chilling?

We're out here...

I hear it.

I hear. Where's he at?

What is that noise, bro?

What is that noise?

It wasn't just coming
from one area,

it sounded like it was
surrounding the boat.

This is crazy.

I heard it.

I heard it.

I hear it.

It literally sounded
like it was coming

from all different directions.

Oh, my god.

Wow.

This is crazy.

I heard it.

Seriously.

What is that noise?

I heard it. I hear it.

Oh, that's weird.

It's like a screech, almost.

Soon, Ryun hears words among
the wailing from the water.

It's so uncanny.
It literally says, "Jump for me."

When it's happening,
it's so funny.

Like, the hairs on the back
of my neck will stand up,

like, when I hear it.

Like, I'll get, like,
butterflies in my stomach.

I could hear that myself.

I definitely think that
was said to him.

In folklore, mermaids or sirens
would sit on rocks

and sing beautiful songs,

that would
really entrance sailors

and lure them to their deaths -
into the sea and on the rocks.

So could this be a siren's call

or could it be something rather
more boring and mechanical?

I mean, I'm hoping for a mermaid
but I'm not too convinced.

It would be lovely to say that
there is a mermaid in the sea -

trying to entice Ryun
into the sea and drown him -

but the only evidence
that we've got

is a really dubious audio footage

of what sounds like, "Jump in".

But that's interpretation and it
could be so many other things.

Oh, my god!

Upon hearing those screams
and sounds,

my immediate thought was
are they marine life animals?

Are they dolphins?
Are they whales?

Are they created by something
that lives in the sea?

But I don't think they are.

Is that the sound of, like,
a mermaid or a siren at sea?

Where are you?

Cornwall,
in the south west of England,

is home to mum of one, Candice.

When it comes
to paranormal experiences,

Candice started early.

We had lots of experiences

in my mum's haunted house
growing up,

we saw shadow people...

..reflections of people
in the mirrors, voices.

We've always been fascinated
with the paranormal -

obviously,
growing up in a haunted house -

and we wanted to pursue
that more.

Feeling that her experiences
have left her

with a spiritual sensitivity,

Candice is ready and waiting to
try and snap some spectres.

I like to take pictures

because I like to cover all areas
of the paranormal.

You can miss so much
if you don't.

One night, she's visiting an old
familiar haunt with friends.

One of my favourite places
to go in Cornwall

is a place called Bodmin Jail.

It's just a very dark history,

there's been a lot of torture,
a lot of hangings there.

Just gave me the chills.

We took pictures around there
and we got the photos developed.

And I was looking through
the photographs

and I noticed it straight away,
as clear as day -

there was somebody
in the photograph with me.

The photo shows an old man
crouching down wearing glasses,

a shirt and jacket.

Oh! Oh, my god! Look at him.

Oh, my god.
I wasn't expecting that.

Wow!

Wow, that is cool.

That particular picture
was just...wow.

I couldn't believe it.

But the surprise spirits don't
stop there when, one night -

on a trip down
to Minister Church Boscastle -

Candice and her friends stumble
across something astonishing.

The church is very old.

There's a witch buried there,
apparently - a real witch.

And there's meant to be spirits
of witches around in the woods.

On the way down
to the church found like...

It looked like
an abandoned little cottage.

It's not a usual thing
to come across

but the door was open.

We thought we'd have
a little nose through

and take some photographs.

On the floor there
was a wooden pentagram,

which was quite disturbing.

Candice snaps a photo
on her mobile phone

but what she sees,
when she zooms in,

leaves her speechless.

It was blurry

but you could see a perfect shape
of a little girl's face.

Wow,
that's one of the best pictures

that I've seen
in a very long time.

That is a little girl floating
about six feet off the ground.

I mean,
it certainly looks like a face

but this is pareidolia to me.

I have no idea who she is
or why she would be there.

It was just quite sad

that she was probably stuck
there.

If this is not real,

I just don't have any explanation
for it -

it's too good to be true.

Unless, of course,
it has been photoshopped

or some form of photo editing
has taken place.

I can't explain it.

It's so good.

It is a genuine spirit
photograph,

in my opinion.

Our next unexplained event
takes place in Texas, in the USA.

The man behind the footage

is choosing
not to appear on camera.

My name is Coby and I work at
a grocery store in Texas.

I come out to my car
after I get off work,

get inside my car
and I hear a really loud bang.

I get out of my car and I found
the buggy stuck on my fender.

It wasn't busy,
there was no wind.

I didn't know if I was going to
have to call my insurance or not.

So I went to get the footage...

..and that's when I recorded it
with my phone.

Coby and his boss watch
as the CCTV footage

shows him passing
the shopping cart

on the way to his car.

Watch.

You got in right there
and it started moving.

We didn't see nobody close
to the buggy.

Oh, look at this.

It made a whole entire turn,
wheels turned - everything -

and shot straight towards my car.

You're still not in yet.

Oh, oh. See. Oh, oh.

I'm coming for you!
And you sat there.

Of all the cars,
it has to go to you.

Wow.

Oh! It's... Ooh!

Oh, wait. Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Holy shit, it's chasing him.

Oh, look!

It misses that one and then
it's going right into it.

That's actually, purposefully...

..going straight for the car.

That's definitely being
controlled by something.

Obviously,
there's no living person there

but something is controlling it.

It misses that one and then
it's going right into it.

Brilliant.

he hasn't brushed up against it

or hit it, in any way.

It's unfortunate.

Some people thought
that it might have been

me fooling around
with some string -

maybe, like, fishing wire.

I tried telling people that
that wasn't the thing.

I wasn't playing.
it wasn't no prank.

In fact,
Coby has a strong suspicion

about who is behind the collision.

The day before,

he'd visited a haunted house

and made contact with
the spirit of a young boy.

I do believe it was the spirit

that pushed the buggy
into my vehicle.

His theory was that a ghost
has followed him home.

That can actually happen

because,
just like with living people,

spirits can see somebody that
they quite like and they think,

"Ah, they may have
an interesting life."

I love the concept of possession

but a possessed shopping trolley
is a little bit too far for me.

Now what causes that shopping
trolley to suddenly start moving?

And I think
that's the difficulty here.

I'd be turning
to my old friend vibration,

just to give it
that initial nudge.

If you look very carefully
at the clip -

off in the right had corner -

you can see what appears to be
a very busy highway.

And you can see
some quite big vehicles

travelling along that highway.

So, therefore,
that could be my prime suspect

for how the trolley has initially
started to move.

Yeah. Oh, oh.

See, oh, oh. I'm coming for you!

It's very unfortunate
that it hit his car

and I certainly hope it
didn't cause too much damage.

But I think we've all been
around supermarkets -

when we've got the trolley with
the wonky wheel at the front -

that just has a mind of its own.

Doesn't mean they're possessed
and I think this might just be

a very unlucky day
at the supermarket.

It misses that one and then
it's going right into it!

Coby's cart isn't the only object
moving mysteriously.

All around the world,

unexplained items
are caught on camera.

One of these wheelchairs,
outside a hospital in Thailand,

seems to have gotten sick
of sitting still.

At first,
onlookers suspect a stiff breeze

is behind the bewildering sight.

But - when the wondering
wheelchair turns abruptly -

they're likely left
feeling unsteady themselves.

This playground in Pakistan

looks like something out
of a horror film,

as the swing set seemingly swings
without anyone on it.

You can see from the trees
that there's no wind

and there are no children around.

The person behind
the footage can't explain it

so he wisely decides
to call it a night.

And,
if you thought that was weird,

take a look
at this outdoor apparatus

moving on its own
in Northern India.

When police arrive at the scene,

they are initially baffled
by the beguiling sight...

..but they now believe
the spooky spectacle

was caused by excess grease
applied by pranksters.

Strong work, guys.

Back in the Atlantic Ocean...

This is crazy, I heard it.

..Fisherman Ryun
is hearing unsettling sounds

from beneath the waves.

What the fuck?

It was dark out.

It was very dark
and then all of a sudden...

Yo, what is that?

What the fuck is that?

Those two trails were coming on
the side of the boat.

I've got another one over here.

Wow.

It's not a whale or a dolphin,
is it?

What are those?

You can see the size of the trail
in the water

was at least 15 feet long...

What are those trails?

Something is swimming fast
underneath that water.

Something is swimming real fast.

..and we were going about
15 knots.

That's pretty fast.

What the fuck's going on?

I'm not sure
if he's captured anything new

or certainly anything mystical
on his journey but, certainly,

being in that pitch darkness -
50 miles out at sea -

it's gonna play some weird tricks
with your head.

Come on, Mr Crab!
Actually, you know what?

How about I throw you back
in your ocean?

'Cause we're not catching you -
be free.

Be free, homie.

But Ryun's convinced that whatever
is in the water is coming closer.

Oh, yo!

I'm in such shock at this moment

because
there's an interaction now...

Oh, yo!

..a physical interaction.

Oh!

Wow, weird.

Wait? Nah, no fucking way!

Wait,
I just threw this overboard.

Y'all saw me throw it overboard.

No, it's a different crab.

To use the evidence of a crab -

apparently, being thrown
back into the boat -

as evidence of a mermaid or siren
of some sort

is just farcical.

You can plainly see
it's a completely different crab.

But, later,
Ryun makes a revealing discovery.

Look at that.

From off-shore Massachusetts
to around 40 miles inland now -

to the Freetown-Fall River State
Forest...

..reputedly one of the
most haunted forests in the world.

Drawn in by the stories,

friends Jasko and Ben
decide not just to visit

but to stay the night.

After researching this forest,
we found some insane details

about some of the things
that occurred.

They found killings,
animal sacrifices,

things that are connected
to the satanic cult.

Investigating
an open space is one thing but -

when you're enclosed
and shrouded by tree cover

and bushes, foliage and stuff -

you cannot see what's lurking
in the woods.

We wanted to be
as secluded as possible,

way off into the back roads.

We got our chairs set up.

We got our camera set up
and we were, basically,

just having a good time.

The pair set up a spirit box -

a device stored
with banks of words,

that supposedly allow spirits
to communicate through it.

We were about
to experience something

that we weren't ready for.

Why do you want us to stop the...

Oh!

Ah!

Did I jump?

Why do you want us

Oh!

We heard a blood curdling scream
to the left of us,

we were absolutely shaken up.

It came from down here.

Alright, are you ready?
Yeah.

Let's keep on going.

We decided to get up
and investigate,

see if we could figure out
where that scream came from.

And we went down this trail,

that seemed like it
was never-ending...

..and we kept hearing
what sounded like voices.

Whoa!
What the...

After a while,
the spirit box said to us, "Run".

Whoa!
What the...

Run? OK. OK, alright.
We're running.

Go, go.

Go this way, this way.

"Run now."

Don't run in the forest at night.

What the hell was that?

I don't know,
we'll keep on going.

Keep on going.

Earlier,
when it said stop the camera,

we didn't stop the camera
and we heard that scream.

It was all at once.

I was wondering -
if I didn't run -

what would happen?

It scared me to my core,

to the point where my fight
or flight kicked in

and it was the flight.

I took off.

It seems to be, like,

the spirit was intelligently
communicating with them,

telling them to turn
the camera off and then run now.

Wow.

We better get back to the tent,
bro.

Yeah.
You know what?

I say we call it quits for now.

At this point,

it was either we sleep
or we drive six hours back.

We chose to stay in the tent.

I'm going to try it again.

Back in the relative safety
of the camp,

Jasko and Ben set up
a night vision camera

and bed down for what they hope
is a quiet night.

Shut the door, no way.

Oh! Something moving the camera?

It seemed
that something pushed the camera

to a point where
it completely turned

and then fell off the suitcase.

There's really no explanation
to it

and we didn't notice up
until about an hour after.

Definitely that was moved by
something otherworldly.

And it kind of goes with that
whole thing of stop the camera.

Obviously, something there really
doesn't want to be filmed.

Just grab my flashlight.

There it is.

I actually woke up
about 20 minutes before 3

and I really needed to go
to the bathroom.

Jasko heads off into the forest,

leaving Ben to wonder
where he's gone.

I was sleeping
and I had a feeling

that Jaz
wasn't next to me anymore.

And I have no idea where he is.

But I went out to go find Jaz.

OK. Yo, Jaz?

I'm calling Jaz's name

and I hear him call Ben -
coming from the left.

And as I'm heading left -

maybe, like,
15 seconds later from my right...

Jaz?

Ah?

Way down,
I hear Jaz call my name.

Ah?

What the...

I'm over here.

So I have Jaz calling my name
from the left and the right.

Ah?

It's almost as if
some kind of spiritual entity

has tried to mimic
his friend's voice.

Voices can bounce off
trees differently

and sounds can echo strangely.

So it's not uncommon for things
like this to happen,

for you to hear a sound
where it shouldn't be.

Jaz?

I'm right here, right here.

What's up? You OK?

Uh,
I heard you call from that way.

I had no idea
what I was experiencing.

It didn't make any sense.

I felt like
I was starting to lose it.

What happened?
I heard your voice over there.

You called me from over there.

No, I was right...
It was coming from...

Yeah.

There's no way.

I'm literally right here.

I remember you
started throwing up.

You weren't feeling good.
Yeah.

He actually had to leave.

I had to take him back to the car
and get him out of there.

Wow,
what a camping trip that was.

I mean, there's so much going on
in there, isn't there?

They don't want living people
coming into their space.

They will do something to try
and terrify you

so that you run away
and you never want to come back.

No, that's going away from it.

I can easily say that
this is the most haunted location

that I have ever been.

I would say it's, like,
the most terrifying moment

I've ever had.

I mean, what I heard that night
was beyond unexplainable.

Unexplainable events are caught
on camera all across the globe -

but nowhere are they more baffling
and bizarre than the animal world.

In China,
locals are surely baffled

by the egg-straordinary sight
of this hen with three legs.

The footage -
captured in Guangdong Province -

clearly shows the hen's third leg
protruding between her front two.

According to the owner,
this feathery phenomenon

lives a perfectly normal
and happy life -

despite her extra appendage.

And she's not the only one.

In the north of China,

this baby bull has been born
with a fifth leg

protruding from the centre
of his back.

No one seems to know how
it happened - or why -

but the happy little guy

certainly doesn't seem
to have any beef with it.

You're so sweet.

And this American eskimo dog,
near Niagara Falls,

has not one but two noses.

While the startling sight

initially appears to be
unexplainable,

it is actually the result
of the animal being born

with a cleft palate.

Hi, buddy.

And,
even with the unusual addition,

he sure nose
how to have a good time.

Back in Cornwall,

Candice
is photographing spooky sites

and capturing the previous
occupants still inside.

With her camera at the ready,
the adventure continues.

We found
an abandoned little chapel

on the side of the road with
a little cemetery.

It was amazing inside,
it was all derelict.

And we took a few photographs
and did a bit of filming.

And there was just, like,
a black mass in the photograph.

Whoa, what the hell is that?

Oh, I can kind of see
something there.

That's a fantastic capture.

That is absolutely fantastic.

Oh, that's good.
I think that's good.

That's a good effect.
I mean, it's right by the window.

Yeah, it's not exposure because
all of this is quite sharp.

So, yeah, that's impressive.
I'll give you that one.

I'm sure
I didn't see anything like that

when I was walking around
taking photographs.

These photos
are just some of the many

that Candice has taken
over the years.

These are, certainly,
very evocative pictures.

Candice definitely knows
how to take a good photograph.

I mean, wow,

what an amazing collection
of paranormal photos

or spirit photography.

Spirits can be photographed -

I know,
because I've done it myself.

But a few of the photographs here

could be just forms
of pareidolia or matrixing,

where the human brain wants
to interpret images

and things that it sees
as things that are relevant

and relevant to us.

My opinion
is that each of these pictures

are absolutely 100% real.

There's no fakery and it's
definitely not pareidolia.

For Candice,

the phantom photo-bombing
is just part of our experience.

When I show people
my photographs,

they are
just absolutely stunned -

they can see exactly
what I'm talking about.

I love our photographs

and I feel that proves
that there is things out there.

I think it proves there
is a life after death.

Hereford, almost 200 miles
north of Cornwall,

is home to Ben and Georgia -

who don't want to be interviewed
but do want to share their story.

When renovating a house
they bought at auction,

the duo discover a hidden room.

A room sealed off
is always, always a red flag.

A big red flag.

Inside, hanging from a hook,
is an old Bible.

That's a pretty hefty Bible
to be hanging from a ceiling.

And the couple's
disturbing discoveries

don't stop there.

In the attic,

there's a crucifix wrapped
in bloody cloths.

The couple's story takes
an even stranger turn

when they come across a small box,

stashed in their chimney.

It's kind of like a paranormal
treasure hunt, isn't it?

That looks like quartz crystal -

probably for protection

but there's too many pieces
all gathered together for that.

Along with the crystals,

the box contains
an old photograph -

the address of a Bangkok market
and a letter written in Thai.

This is all really weird stuff.

None of it really makes sense,
though.

Why do I never find this
in my house?

Intrigued, the couple make
the astonishing decision

to fly to Bangkok,

to find the market
in the photograph.

No, they actually went
on a plane?

In Bangkok, locals help
the couple locate the market

and a shop worker tries
to translate the letter.

But, when Ben shows him the box,
the man asks them to leave.

And, back at their hotel,

the couple come down
with a mysterious illness.

When they start coming out
in these strange, red blotches,

that's very much an
indication to me

that something's been released

and they are paying
the price for that.

The narrative
for these video clips

is all about a curse
or a curse attached to items.

Now, I do believe that curses
are real.

And the only way to break curses
is to go back to the source

of the curse, essentially.

But I'm not fully convinced.

Witchcraft is very real,
curses are very much real

and they are very powerful.

Anything you think is cursed -

make sure you get rid of it,
as fast as you can,

to somewhere pretty safe.

And that's exactly what
Ben and Georgia decide to do.

That was quite the story.

I feel like I've watched
a full feature length film.

For me,
this is just a bit too much.

It's like an ice-cream
with all the toppings.

We like a bit of a spooky story

but when we've got Bibles -
and God knows what else -

it all just gets
a little bit too much,

a little bit too curated for me.

People all around the world

are capturing unusual occurrences
on their mobile phones,

especially
in the north of England.

At this castle in York,

a tourist has seeing something
she can't explain.

After taking photos
of Clifford's Tower at night,

she later notices
a mysterious figure

with, what appears to be,
a hole in his head.

In her next photo,
taken only seconds later,

the figure seems to be fading.

If it was a cold night,

it wouldn't have been the weather
that gave her chills.

Not far from York Castle
is this popular antiques store,

that has been dubbed
"Britain's Most Haunted Shop"...

..for obvious reasons.

The store's CCTV

captures a number of items
moving mysteriously

and falling from shelves.

According to the owner,

the building dates back
to the 19th century

and once housed a funeral parlour.

So they are some pretty loyal
customers.

Deep in the desert,
south of Las Vegas in the US,

lies an abandoned mine

that's rumoured to be haunted
by so-called tommy knockers -

evil spirits who lure miners
to their deaths.

It's a place
that intrepid adventurer Xavier

is keen to explore.

We're at the tommy knocker mine.

Today, I'm joined by my friend
Katie and her daughter, Emily.

We've brought
several dolls with us.

We're going
to leave the dolls here

and, hopefully, the spirit -

of whoever is roaming
around in this mine -

can take on one of these dolls
and live in it.

Oh, we need to keep a close eye
on those dolls.

Xavier is using dowsing rods -

an ancient water finding tool
that's believed, by some,

to tap into the frequency
of spiritual energies.

Is there any spirit in here
with us,

that wants to communicate,

can you make

That's some
pretty strong movement

from the dowsing rods.

There's a lot to take
into consideration here

with subconscious movement.

We can think that
we're communicating with a spirit

but really, in some instances,
we could just be moving

but not so much that we are
conscious of these movements.

As the activity increases,

it seems Katie's taking
a turn for the worse.

Still, Xavier is determined to
carry on with the investigation.

Potentially, those people
that are physically scratched

by these spiritual beings,

are more susceptible
and more open to being attacked.

So, therefore,
they feel nauseous -

they feel sick,
they feel a physical change,

a physiological change -

just moments before
they're physically attacked.

When anybody reports a scratch
in a haunted location -

and a scratch
as if by unseen hands -

I'm always very conscious
that we need to see footage

of that area of their body,
where the scratch was,

before it happened
and then afterwards.

So we've got a comparison there.

We don't have that here so it
raises a little bit of doubt.

and there's no doubt
that there's nobody near it,

that could be causing it to move.

If you're going to ask spirits
to move something

you've always got to make
sure that, prior to that,

the object is secured.
