Since our show first lit up
the screen a decade ago,

we've given out over
$3 million in prize money

to the brightest displays
across the country.

It's a dream come true.

Thank you so much.

We celebrated
the first five seasons

of "The Great
Christmas Light Fight"

with an electric
all-star special

featuring the most
incredible displays

from seasons 1 through 5.

And now we're back to celebrate
the past five years

with the best of seasons
6 through 10.

I'm Folepi, and this is
the Festival of Lights.

This isn't just your regular
Christmas display.

This is a parade of lights.

We have 40 floats that were
handmade here in East Peoria,

steam trains, dinosaurs,
whales, ducks,

you name it, we've got it
going down the street.

Most of them have controllers
that animate.

We've got a million lights to
display in our parade of lights.

Here we come.

Let's go and do this!

Oh, my gosh!
That is so cool!

Long-necked Brontosaurus

with some palm trees
on the bottom.

Look at this Chinese dragon,
fire breathing.

Look at this!

Oh, I love the smoke.

The Clydesdale.

- These are massive!
- 84 feet long!

I am so impressed
right now!

Our life-size,
built to scale fire truck.

Oh, man.
Fire ladder truck.

Yeah, this one gets it,
right here.

Steam train, 165 feet long,
65,000 lights.

That is a big boy.

Each float is like
a sculpture.

It's its
own piece of art.

The massive size
and the artistry

that it takes to figure out
how it's going to look.

We have a huge welding table,
then draw it out on lines,

and then we just
start bending steel.

That is
so impressive.

These things
are brought to life

and scaled
based on toys.

The exact toy
that we used to scale.

so realistic.

Our goal is truly
to bring these toys to life.

This parade is bringing
Christmas to town.

We're bringing the

The gummy bears
are looking great.

We create mostly
everything from scratch.

We take it to the next level
by our usage of recycled items

as props that look like you
want to eat the house.

It looks delicious!

The whole house
seriously looks like

it just came out of the oven.

Look at the gumdrops
on the roof!

And they're all lit up.

Pretzels on the garage,

an actual gingerbread car
in your driveway.

Of course, where else
are we gonna park it?

This is incredible.

Is that a chocolate bar I see?
Yeah.

I love how you covered
your front lawn with white snow.

It looks like frosting!
No way.

I have to get up
close and personal

with this life-sized car.

A lot of this
was packaging foam.
Packing foam,

when we had a move,
even the wheels.

They look like
the most delicious cookies.

Guys, I've got to take
a look at this big, giant tree.

Made from recycled
shipping container insulation.

How do you
get it to look so real?

A lot of love.

I was doing some expanding
foam projects

and some fell on the ground
and I said,

"Hey, that kind of
looks like popcorn."

We catch a lot of kids
licking certain props.

I can't blame them.

I'm a grown adult and I want
to take a bite out of this.

Now it's home-grown DIY
rooted in Mother Nature

with Floral Inspiration.

90% of my display is handmade.

I'm going to start
with little, tiny swirls.

My meadow creates
a peaceful serenity inside you.

It's just really cool.

There's over
80,000 lights.

This is where it all started.
I bought two little deer.

What do deer do?
They will eat flowers.

I'll show you
how I make my flowers.

So it all comes
from icicle lights.

I recycle coat hangers,
good ones that don't rust.

Tape it together.
What?

So now I've got
to put stamens on them.

Okay.
So I melted the ends
of a big industrial brush.

Those are just bristles
from a brush?

Yeah.
Wow.

Every light is
from glass paint.

So are you telling me
that you painted each light?

Each light.
And the little ducks?

I made them with
a 3-D pen.

Get out of here.

It's just such
a beautiful scene.

When you look over here,
you see the perspective

of the different heights
of the custom-made flowers,

of the trees,
of the mountains.

That's unlike
anybody else's display.

Yeah, it's really
cool to see.

My brain is exploding.

We're naming our favorite
all-star displays

from seasons 6 through 10,

and this next one built
an entire street

I'd want to visit again.

It's Facade Fabrication.

I'm Chas Fiore
from Wilmington, Massachusetts.

And we're the Christmas crew!

And this is
my vision of precision.

We are going to build a town.

People can come down here

and feel like they're walking
down a Christmas street.

Every single light bulb
in our display

has to be spaced
2.5 inches exactly.

Chas is
a total perfectionist.

Absolutely.
Down to the inch.

Break the wall! Break the wall!

Wow!

Yes!

Oh, my gosh.

Wow, that's amazing!

I feel like I'm in
a fairytale!

I've never seen
anything like this.

So how long did it
take you to build all of these?

This was
about three months.

That's it?
Yeah.

That's unbelievable.

I mean, I see clock towers and
balconies and windows and doors.

All of these lights
on the walls,

they're all spaced 2.5 inches
throughout the entire display.

And the reason I chose
2.5 inches

is because
the lights on a strand,

the bulbs are spaced 2.5 inches
from the factory.

So I spaced
the strands 2.5 inches.

You are just --

This is music.

I hear music
in my ears right now

when you talk about this,
seriously.

You have got to show me
how this is all constructed.

I cannot believe
my eyes right now.

I mean, it feels like
it took as much work

to build this as it did
probably out front.

To hold them down,
we took 55-gallon drums,

filled them with water.
Wow.

And it was just as hard to build
all these supports to make

these buildings stand as it was
to build the faces of these.

Wow.

This is like,
its own separate reveal.

It's just mind-blowing.

Now with some of
the highest tech

I've seen throughout the galaxy,
it's Technological Integration.

So these are the wispy trees
and we call these the facets.

And these were all
3-D printed.

You 3-D printed
all of these?

How long does it take?

This large one takes
about 16 hours to print.

Does it really?
Yeah.

The star up on the top again
is 3-D printed.

The other pieces,
we're just using tube

from the hardware store.

I want to
talk about the matrix.

It was so cool.

We liked that
it kind of has that 8-bit

kind of retro video game
feel to it.

Sure, totally.

How did you make these
gumdrops that I'm seeing here?

It is literally
just a piece of plastic

that you guys
have formed?

One of those took 10 hours
to do, total.

And how many of
these gumdrops do you have?

We got 60 of these.

You're talking about
600 hours.
Yeah.

You guys have spent
a month just making gumdrops.

How did you
figure this out?

Just trial and error,

and I wanted
to try different stuff.

This is so cool,
these angel wings.

Tell me the story.

So one of the days,
we were picking up water bottles

on the ground,
and we're like,

you know,
this would be cool to do,

like, angel wings with
300 water bottles.

Is that how many
water bottles are here?

I just love all these soft
colors and these tones.

It's something
that has turned out beautiful.

Welcome to Robolights!

Robolights is an annual
art and light display

on two acres of land.

But it's more than
just a light display.

It's an experience.
People ask, why robots?

Well, I say, well,
why not robots? Robots are fun.

Let's go robots!

I'm looking at acres of land
that are covered

with handmade art by Kenny.

This is so interesting.
This is so different!

This is only the beginning.

Kenny found a way to take
robots and Christmas

and merge them together into one
big, happy Christmas display.

Wow!

Where have you brought me to?
What is this land called?

What you're looking at here
is the Candy Cane Palace.

Santa Claus has a stagecoach
being pulled

by 20 bipedal robodeer.

It's just so cool!
My brain is exploding.

This is
the robotic carousel.

There's tires,
there's vacuum cleaners,

watering cans,
shoes, pool skimmers.

It's really cool.

You look at the art as a whole
and it looks like one thing,

but then you get closer
and closer and closer,

you keep seeing more and more
and more and more.

It's a robot made out
of nothing but power strips,

and it's 10,000 watts
of light.

Get out of here!

That's like,
the robot of all robots.

This is the Iron Giant.

I created this
when I was 18 years old.

There's lamps,
there's barbecues,

and that's all made out of
microwave parts right there.

The amount of giggles
that I've had walking through

this display already
is unbelievable.

The world needs
more giggles.

Now the nightmare wait is over.

It's one of my favorite
holiday movies,

brought to life
in Cinematic Adaptation.

it's a wonderful movie.

You have all of
the Halloween characters in it,

yet you have a Christmas story.

All of the characters
are built from scratch.

this is so themed out.

look first?

At the toy factory!

You start on the right
with the Harlequin Demon.

Ha!
This is so cool.

I love the fact that the movie

Barrel
is looking legit.

The arms are made out
of yellow flexible gas pipe.

Oh,
that's so smart!

So you can put them
into position.

The Harlequin Demon
is made from planters,

two different sized
plastic color pots.

Wow.

The brain on the duck
is half a walnut.
Yeah?

No!

The brain on Dr. Finklestein,
that's a Jell-O mold.

That's so creative!

Am I crazy as the mayor's
head turning around or what?

He has a Christmas tree motor
inside the body,

and it rotates
at one revolution per minute.

This "Nightmare Before
Christmas" display,

it is spooktacular.

Magical Winter Lights
is the largest

Chinese lantern festival
of its kind.

The Chinese lantern originated
as a paper lantern.

Nowadays, lanterns are made
with synthetic silk fabrics.

Metal structure, light bulbs,
and fabrics on top.

It's rooted in Asia,
born in the United States,

so it's a perfect combination
of two cultures.

Magical winter lights!

Wow! That is unbelievable!

I truly have never seen
anything like this before.

An entire city of lights!

Oh, my gosh. I had no idea that
you could make a lantern so big.

Alvin and I travel a lot,

so when we go to a different
country and we see a landmark,

"You know what?
Let's make that into a lantern."

There are trees,
enchanted forests.

Look how many trees are here,
Penelope. Whee!

Is this an igloo?
This is an igloo.

I feel like I'm walking
into a disco ball.

These are mirror-like papers.
It's a metal structure.

You have fabric on top,
and then you have lights inside.

Talk about a mega tree.

It's about 60 foot tall.

It takes a couple of cranes
to build this tree.

This is just incredible.

These structures
are so ginormous.

This could be one of the coolest
things I've ever seen.

Now a ride down memory lane
kicks into overdrive

with Sweet Transportation.

We're the Pratt family
and we bake magic.

Sweet Street is a full
ride-on attraction

where you go through the
wonderful, yummy world of candy.

You ride through rooms
like marshmallow

and peppermint and lollipop.

It's a unique experience
that I think

you can't get
anywhere else.

It's working! Oh, yeah.

Oh, my gosh.

That was so good.

I can smell it!

We have
a surprise for you.

This is
the Sweet Mobile.

how did you make this?

We actually took just two
electric wheelchair motors,

flipped them
parallel to the ground

so they're
pinching the track,

and when you get on it,
it's actually squeezing

the track,
so it pulls you forward.

That was really smart,
by the way.

We actually had to bend
the track with a pipe bender,

and once we got the turns down,
the straightaways were easy.

We used 2x4s, just tapped
into the ground.
I know, I see that.

Oh, my gosh.

You got to
toot the horn

to get the Sweet Mobile
to move.

Yeah, there we go!

What a way to start.

that we put motors with.

We can take any parking lot

and transform it into
a world of lights.

That's where all the cars
are going to be queued

into eight lanes.

Our million plus
pixel lights

run off of over 450
controllers and receivers.

We went from 92 tons
of steel last year

to 125 tons
of steel this year.

Of course,
we push the limits

on creativity, hardware,
software, technology,

all those things
that are expected, we did it,

and we brought it
big time.

It is colossal.

That is a massive snowman!

They have a mile
of synchronized light.

I love the messaging.

It really sets the tone
of this entire mile-long drive.

What is going on?

It's the world's
largest RGB tunnel.

that touched my heart

in a way no other display has.

It's Nativity Recreation.

We are
the Bocanegra family

from Corpus Christi, Texas,
and...

We have the biggest
nativity in Texas!

My display is all about

when Jesus
was born in the manger.

It symbolizes peace, hope, joy.

Our nativity scene is truly
the reason for the season.

Let there be light!

Oh, my gosh.

And there was light.

Wow.

That is just absolutely --

wow -- breathtaking.

I feel like I'm in Bethlehem.

I just stood there speechless,
and I had no words,

just a feeling
that came over me.

A calmness just took
over my body.

What is taking my breath away
is that five steps away,

I'm on the street
in Corpus Christi, Texas,

and then five steps later,
I'm in Bethlehem.

It's staged beautifully.

I have never felt so little

in a display before.

Look at this guy!

Yeah, he's about eight
or nine feet tall.

Do they have eyelashes?

Yes, they do have eyelashes.

They are some good
eyelashes.

- Is this driftwood?
- Oh, yes.

It's so beautiful
because it adds texture.

And then you pair that
with the Spanish moss,

so it looks even more beautiful
and it fills in all the gaps.

And then I see
you have the angels

and the Star of Bethlehem.

That was an old
disco ball we bought.

Oh, no way!
Yeah, actually. Yes.

That is really amazing.

Exactly.

This is the moment
I've been waiting for.

It makes a statement
what Christmas is really about.

It really does.

I have never seen anything
like this before in my life.

Every single detail
is just magical.

Welcome to Luminaria
in Lehi, Utah.

We invite you to experience
the light!

This property is
a 55-acre estate gardens.

6,000 luminaries.

They're all pixilated,
so we can do designs in them,

and it's all to music.

They're typically
called luminaries.

They're just basically
a paper sack with some sand

and some candles.

They originally came from,
like, Mexico,

and the Spanish Catholics
brought them over,

and where I'm from
in New Mexico,

luminaries are like
a staple of every house.

We are done.

Yay.
Yeah. Up top.

Oh, that is amazing!

throw cares away ♪

It is by far the biggest screen
we have ever seen.

There's just so much
you can do with that.

Visually,
it's so interesting.

I've seen lights light up acres,

but never so precise
and so detailed.

You might be able to
see this from space.

It's so much cooler
to be down here.

Yeah, we're right in the
middle of the Merry Mosaic.

Look at this.
It's a great view.

We have to pound
each of these stakes in,

and so we watered the ground
really well, make it soft.

It takes us about
two weeks to --

To put them all?
...put them all in, yeah.

We just have some set screws
that you place the bucket on.

You hit the stake in,
pull the wire,

attach the light bulb with
the bucket, and it's done.

This is gorgeous
on every level.

Now a farm-to-holiday
table experience

that makes me want
to eat my veggies.

It's Garden Reimagination.

We're the Reynolds family
from La Verkin, Utah...

And we grow Christmas
from the ground up.

On a day-to-day,
we harvest from the garden,

growing vegetables.

We've got the

a part of an orchard.

There's peaches and apples
and apricots and figs.

This whole set-up
with the ladder

and the basket filled
with "apples" --

on these elves.

Hundreds of little elves.

You got elves having picnics,

elves cutting wood,

ice skaters, ballerinas,
swinging.

Elves just doing everything.

You've got elves decorating
the Christmas tree.
Climbing a tree.

You've got elves everywhere.
Yep.

Wait, what's up with all the
buttons here?

Okay.

You get some magic
to happen with the elves.

We got three girls
on saxophone.

That is so much fun.

And this is, like, just a great
landscape of elves and snow.

So, we use a giant tarp.
Yeah.

Under that tarp,
we have now put lights.

That's so sweet!

So we get that glowing effect
of having snow.
Yeah.

Talk about Santa
and the sleigh.

17 feet long.
2 1/2 feet wide.

It weighs
about 700 pounds.

Oh, my gosh.

Man, this is like
the North Pole right here!

100%. The North Pole.

That is so fun.

Now it's
the biggest tree trimming

I've ever had
the privilege to join

with Christmas Ornamentation.

This beach ball

a Christmas ornament.

It means so much

it's, like, life-sized.

I didn't even notice
all of the presents behind me.

That's what children want!
They want presents.

How did you make the bow?

This is aluminum
behind here.
Okay.

And then we have a special glue
that never really dries.

The fabric has to be able
to stretch

because when you bend it...
Yeah.

...it has to stretch.
Otherwise it'll pucker,
right?

Yeah.
Like, they're
really gorgeous.

I see how you got ornaments
down here,

but how did you get them
all the way up there?

I have a special way
you get up there.

Yeah!

Tom, how tall
is this tree?

60 feet.
It's a Norfolk Island pine.

Jerry had it as a houseplant,

and then it grew too tall
to be in the house,

so we put it outside.

What are these
ornaments?

Is that a beach ball?
Yeah.

And they're wrapped
with tinfoil?

Well, some are.
These have mesh on them.

Right.
These have glitter on them.

Then we have little cups
you put on top

to make them
look like ornaments.
Cups?

Is that what that is?
Yes.

And then
it looks real, right?

This whole display is just
a big, happy place.

It's time for our "All-Stars"
special to finish bright

with the heavyweight display
that lit up the night.

It's Illumination Domination.

Welcome to the Legendary Lights
at Clifton Mill.

Last year we had
3.8 million lights.

But Carter's coming.
You know what that means.

I want 4 million lights.

1 million lights,
you're a lightweight.

2 to 3 million,
you're a welterweight.

You want to be
the heavyweight champion

of "The Great
Christmas Light Fight,"

4 million lights
is what it's gonna take.

Three...two...one!

Oh!

Oh, wow!

The entire property
is literally covered

in a blanket of red lights

with a beautiful stream
meandering through it.

You guys,
this is gorgeous.

There's lights everywhere,
whether they're 90-foot trees

or the top of the cupola

or all the way down
to the river.

These guys have used 4 million
lights in an amazing,

attractive way.

I was not expecting
any of this.

My eyes
are still trying to adjust

to what I'm seeing right now.

Do you guys want to go

This is fantastic.
The view.

These are single strand,
one at a time,

and I work my way
down section by section.

And over there is the cliff.

That's the 30-foot drop.

I repel down there,

and one by one by one,
we work our way across.

That's incredible.

It is unbelievable,

the magnitude of the display
that you have here.

We've made it through
our list of All-Stars,

but we better check it twice.
