into the rocky mountains

And that's over the highest
paved road in North America.

Not many of these cyclists have
ever raced at this altitude.

In Europe, for instance,
the courses through the alps

are much, much lower.
It's a torturous course.

And even the fittest athletes
can't get enough air

to maintain a normal speed.
