by the warmth and support
of his friendship.

And, yes, it has to be said,
by his sharp rebuke.

If you did not meet the high
standard, he set out for you,

a standard he set out
for himself

and once rebuked,
never forgotten.

He says he is retiring,

but I find that very hard
to believe.

He has never
been retiring.

I know he has a speech,

and I know as a point
of principle

it will be far better than mine.
