I was burned many years ago
on over 60% of my body.

And for the better part of three years,

I was in the hospital with

I became deeply intrigued
by this idea that we repeatedly

and predictably make the wrong decisions

in many aspects of our lives.

And research could help
change these patterns.

I began doing experiments.

And I found the nurses were wrong.

So I went back, and I told them.

And they promised that they
would change their practices.

One nurse admitted
that she simply assumed

that fast was better,
because for the nurses,

inflicting that pain slowly
was much worse.

I had never considered their pain.

There are great lessons
to be learned in this.

and a small shopping cart,

and I instructed them
that they had two minutes

to get as much food as they could.
