One of the coolest new features
in Resolve 18 is the Cloud collaboration.

It lets you share any
with anyone anywhere in the world,

and you can both work on that project
at the same time.

So you can have somebody working on

an edit while somebody else is color
grading all of the footage as you edit.

Somebody could be working on visual
effects infusion or graphics or something

while you're editing
and you can all kind of share one project.

It's really slick.

Here's how you get that set up.

First of all,

down here in the lower right
corner, let's open project manager

and we need to be on this right section
where it says Cloud.

When you click on that
for the first time, it's

going to ask you to sign into your black
magic cloud account.

If you don't have one of those,
you have to go to the upper right

corner of Blackmagic
design icon and click log in.

We'll select a project server,
and if you don't have an account,

you'll have to sign up, type in your name,
email, all that kind of stuff.

And once you're signed
in, you want to make sure that you're

in the project server,
and any projects that you make

will show up here in your project library.

You do have to create a project library

and it's $5 a month to host
a library on the Black Magic Cloud.

Now, what a library is is kind of like
a database has been in resolve.

It's basically
just a big group of projects.

So you can have near infinite projects
in a library,

but the library is kind of how you control
how you share it.

So you might have four different users
on this library.

And if you want to have a client,
just be able to access

a couple of different projects
instead of every project

you ever put on the cloud,

you'll have to make a separate library

and just give them permissions
to go into that library.

But it's $5 a month
to set up that library, and that library

can have up to ten users
so you don't have to pay per person.

It's per library.

Once you have your Blackmagic cloud
account and your project library set up,

you can sign in through resolve.

And all of the projects that are in

that library are going to show up right
here, just like a normal project would.

In your project manager,
we can create a new project

with this button here and we'll call this

project just because I'm super original.

After that, it pretty much acts exactly
the same way as a normal project would.

You can import media,
do all the things that you'd normally do.

The only difference is
this isn't saved locally on your computer.

It's saved on the cloud.

So you can use this.

I'll just open up

one of our other projects here.

I'll just open up our walk
through project here

and you can edit
and do everything that you need to do.

And you can access this project
anywhere in the world

as long as you have your media
and you know the log

in to your blackmagic cloud account.

And so even if you're not working
with somebody else,

you can kind of use this
as a central place

to kind of keep your project
and you can work on your laptop

and do some edits
and then go and sit down on your desktop

and pick up right where you left off
without having to transfer anything.

Again,
as long as you have a copy of the media

in both places

or you have some kind of shared storage
or something, you can access this project

from the cloud. Now,
something to clarify a little bit.

The only thing that sync to the cloud
is the actual project file.

It doesn't send any media or anything
like that, so you have to either

have a shared storage system
if you're all kind of on a network,

or you have to send copies of the media
to whoever you're collaborating with.

So you do have to kind of manage
those files yourself.

But the beauty here is that multiple
different users and locations

and everything can access the same project
at the same time,

and you guys can actually do the work
together in this project in real time.

So let's look at
how to kind of set that up.

So I have two different
PCs here, the red PC and the blue PC,

and on the blue PC will need to sign in
with our Blackmagic Cloud account.

And if
we are signed in, we should be able to see

any projects that are in a library
that we have access to.

So these are both my account.

So I have access to both these libraries.

But if we wanted to give somebody else
access to this, we can click

on the details here of the project library

and go down and hit share
and type in an email address

that belongs to somebody else's
Blackmagic ID.

Here I have one
shared with our editor Sam,

and now he'll have access to anything
that I put here in this library.

So all of these projects.

So now here on the blue PC,
I have access to all the projects.

But we'll notice
that this one here is locked.

The reason this is locked
is because when we make a project,

this shared on the cloud, and if I have
this open here on our red PC,

then I won't be able to access it with
the blue PC until we switch a setting.

So on the red
PC, I'll go over here to file

and here will select multi-user
collaboration.

And once I click that,

then that will allow multiple people

to connect
and open this project and mess with it.

So here on the Blue PC,
a double click on collab project.

And that will let me load it.

And now I can open up a timeline
like Walk Through Finished

and I have access to the same project
at the same time as the other PC.

A couple other things to mention.

Down here in the lower right,
we have a couple icons here.

One of these buttons is called
Collaboration lets

you see all of the users
that have access to this project.

This red PC is called ED.

The blue PC is called Colorist
and we have a little chat

If we click on this little
collaboration chat icon

that will

bring this up and I can send messages

to the colorist using this little chat.

Very slick way to do things.

So now let's jump
in to how this actually works.
