So let us not discuss the case study I told you about in the interview.

Put yourself into the shoes of a data analyst.

Data loaded profiles come with different names such as business analyst, business researcher or a business

insights head.

Let's say you are the business insights head for E!

Company, which is selling products online.

Your job is to provide relevant insights from data based on which the company can take appropriate business

decisions.

So basically you have the access to all the data that the company is storing and you take out useful

information out of this data to take decisions.

When you are in such a position, you cannot be working in silos.

You'll be interacting with all the teams in the company with sales and marketing or finance or operations.

That is the supply chain team.

And all these will be reaching out to you to find out what data has to tell about the issue they are

facing or the information related to decisions they want to take.

So one day you receive an email from the marketing manager.

She's planning on starting a fresh marketing campaign and is trying to finalize the marketing channel

for the same.

She has several options.

If she chooses social media, she will be primarily focusing on the younger age group people.

Whereas if she chooses newspapers, she'll be focusing on the aged category of people.

So she decides to figure out the profile of the customers of card company in different regions.

If there is a particular category of customers more prevalent in any particular region, she will use

the corresponding channel to target that segment of customers.

Therefore, she's asking you to provide the number of customers belonging to the three age categories.

That is less than 36 years, between 36 to 54 years and above 54 years.

From all the four regions that is central, east, west and south.

The next email is from the supply chain manager.

His job is to maintain the inventory of all products at the same time, saving the warehouse cost.

Now the supply chain manager is facing a problem.

The warehouse in the south region is full, even over utilized, whereas the warehouse of East Region

has a lot of space that it is underutilized.

He needs to take action quickly and order highly selling products in the East region and return back

the low selling products in the South region.

So he's asking you to provide a list of top five selling products in the East region and top five non

selling products of the South region.

Third meal of the day is from the finance manager.

His job is to ensure revenue.

His job is to ensure that the revenue is maintained or even increased while containing the expenditures.

He just realized that a lot of revenue is let go due to the discount coupons given to customers.

He's asking two things of you.

First, he wants to know the total revenue loss due to the discounts given till date.

So again, he wants to find out which products have higher discount redemption compared to the revenue

they generate.

Once he identifies such products, where the ratio of discount is more than the revenue they generate

for such products, he will either change the price or he will discontinue the discount coupons.

So you'll see that different teams are approaching you and are asking for your help.

Once you learn a skill, you can answer all their queries.
