about composites, 3 00:00:05.05 --> 00:00:09.08 which really powerful, super useful attributes. 4 00:00:09.08 --> 00:00:12.09 But within a building material, 5 00:00:12.09 --> 00:00:17.01 we have different sets of priorities. 6 00:00:17.01 --> 00:00:19.06 And so each of these elements 7 00:00:19.06 --> 00:00:22.06 are represented as building materials. 8 00:00:22.06 --> 00:00:24.09 And so what priorities are, 9 00:00:24.09 --> 00:00:26.08 so if we look at this, 10 00:00:26.08 --> 00:00:32.04 so this edge condition is showing us a couple things. 11 00:00:32.04 --> 00:00:37.08 Right now, what I'm seeing is I'm seeing a wood floor, 12 00:00:37.08 --> 00:00:43.01 diving in to a gyp wall. 13 00:00:43.01 --> 00:00:46.01 And if I wanted to make an adjustment 14 00:00:46.01 --> 00:00:49.03 to how that is reflected, 15 00:00:49.03 --> 00:00:51.05 I would need to adjust the priorities 16 00:00:51.05 --> 00:00:53.03 of these building materials. 17 00:00:53.03 --> 00:00:55.07 And one way to do that, 18 00:00:55.07 --> 00:00:59.06 is to select the two elements 19 00:00:59.06 --> 00:01:01.07 that you want to make the adjustment to, 20 00:01:01.07 --> 00:01:06.09 and then use your Alt or Option command and select it, 21 00:01:06.09 --> 00:01:10.03 and then go up to options. 22 00:01:10.03 --> 00:01:13.00 And then we're going to go to is building materials. 23 00:01:13.00 --> 00:01:14.08 We did talk about this earlier, 24 00:01:14.08 --> 00:01:16.07 but this will help you understand 25 00:01:16.07 --> 00:01:19.07 a little bit more about why the priorities 26 00:01:19.07 --> 00:01:22.05 within the building materials is important. 27 00:01:22.05 --> 00:01:27.01 So I'm going to do two things, I'm going to select priorities, 28 00:01:27.01 --> 00:01:30.04 and now it's sorting the priorities of all the elements 29 00:01:30.04 --> 00:01:34.04 from least important to most important. 30 00:01:34.04 --> 00:01:36.06 And so I'm going to click this button, 31 00:01:36.06 --> 00:01:40.05 which will gather the things I've already selected 32 00:01:40.05 --> 00:01:42.00 within the two elements, 33 00:01:42.00 --> 00:01:44.07 the wall and slab that have already worked with. 34 00:01:44.07 --> 00:01:46.08 So one thing I want to do is, 35 00:01:46.08 --> 00:01:52.05 maybe I want to adjust where that gypsum board 36 00:01:52.05 --> 00:01:56.05 is interacting with the floor there. 37 00:01:56.05 --> 00:01:59.09 And maybe I want the floor to go to the wall 38 00:01:59.09 --> 00:02:05.05 and the gyp to stop at the top of the wood floor. 39 00:02:05.05 --> 00:02:08.00 And I have the wood flooring here, 40 00:02:08.00 --> 00:02:10.09 and then I have the gyp board here. 41 00:02:10.09 --> 00:02:12.02 And you can see here, 42 00:02:12.02 --> 00:02:16.08 so the gyp board has a priority setting of 300. 43 00:02:16.08 --> 00:02:20.03 And the wood floor here has a priority set of 250. 44 00:02:20.03 --> 00:02:23.06 And whether or not that's actually how we want to do it, 45 00:02:23.06 --> 00:02:28.00 let's just alter this so that it's inverted. 46 00:02:28.00 --> 00:02:29.09 And I just want to warn you that, 47 00:02:29.09 --> 00:02:34.03 when you make a change like this, it is a global change, 48 00:02:34.03 --> 00:02:38.08 it will affect every single place that this occurs. 49 00:02:38.08 --> 00:02:41.04 So one thing that you might want to do, 50 00:02:41.04 --> 00:02:43.06 is if you see two things 51 00:02:43.06 --> 00:02:45.08 that you want to make an adjustment to, 52 00:02:45.08 --> 00:02:48.09 it might be a good idea just to create a new one 53 00:02:48.09 --> 00:02:50.04 and duplicate it. 54 00:02:50.04 --> 00:02:52.09 But for now, we're just going to make a change 55 00:02:52.09 --> 00:02:57.06 even though we know that it could have drastic effects 56 00:02:57.06 --> 00:03:01.01 on everything from details to how things interact. 57 00:03:01.01 --> 00:03:04.00 But I just want to warn you that that is a possibility, 58 00:03:04.00 --> 00:03:05.06 but we're going to change it anyway. 59 00:03:05.06 --> 00:03:07.02 So I'm going to put this at 300, 60 00:03:07.02 --> 00:03:09.06 I'm going to put this at 250. 61 00:03:09.06 --> 00:03:11.04 And so when I change it, just push enter, 62 00:03:11.04 --> 00:03:12.07 and you can see right there 63 00:03:12.07 --> 00:03:15.08 that those two things now interact in a different way. 64 00:03:15.08 --> 00:03:18.05 So what I'm going to do, 65 00:03:18.05 --> 00:03:20.04 is I'm clicking on this wall, 66 00:03:20.04 --> 00:03:25.07 and I'm going to drop this wall below the slab, 67 00:03:25.07 --> 00:03:27.06 and I'm going to show you what happens 68 00:03:27.06 --> 00:03:30.01 because of the priorities. 69 00:03:30.01 --> 00:03:33.03 So I have a wood wall, the framed wall here 70 00:03:33.03 --> 00:03:37.08 and I have the concrete slab that represents the foundation. 71 00:03:37.08 --> 00:03:41.00 And so all I'm doing is using the elevate tool 72 00:03:41.00 --> 00:03:42.01 or adjusting the base, 73 00:03:42.01 --> 00:03:43.09 and I clicked on the node at the end. 74 00:03:43.09 --> 00:03:46.08 If I click on this edge here to kind of define 75 00:03:46.08 --> 00:03:49.03 that that's where I want the bottom of the wall, 76 00:03:49.03 --> 00:03:52.06 and I click, now we can see that that wall 77 00:03:52.06 --> 00:03:55.01 is going past the concrete. 78 00:03:55.01 --> 00:03:58.07 And that isn't how we want those two elements to interact. 79 00:03:58.07 --> 00:04:02.04 And in pretty much no instance would we want that. 80 00:04:02.04 --> 00:04:07.00 And so this is just a generic 10 inch floor. 81 00:04:07.00 --> 00:04:09.03 So let's look at these again. 82 00:04:09.03 --> 00:04:11.06 So I'm going to select these, highlight them, 83 00:04:11.06 --> 00:04:17.03 push your Alt command and go to building materials. 84 00:04:17.03 --> 00:04:20.02 So actually, what's occurring here is, 85 00:04:20.02 --> 00:04:21.05 that's not a concrete floor, 86 00:04:21.05 --> 00:04:24.01 that is actually a wood floor 87 00:04:24.01 --> 00:04:27.05 and the wood floor 88 00:04:27.05 --> 00:04:30.08 and this wood structural wall 89 00:04:30.08 --> 00:04:32.06 are at different priorities, 90 00:04:32.06 --> 00:04:35.06 and the wood floor is significantly less priority. 91 00:04:35.06 --> 00:04:38.02 And, you know, in reality, that might make sense, 92 00:04:38.02 --> 00:04:40.05 especially if you're doing a two storey structure, 93 00:04:40.05 --> 00:04:42.01 you would want that to occur. 94 00:04:42.01 --> 00:04:44.03 So let's just make that adjustment. 95 00:04:44.03 --> 00:04:45.09 And we'll just have a good idea 96 00:04:45.09 --> 00:04:48.04 of how powerful these priorities are 97 00:04:48.04 --> 00:04:51.06 and how much you need to pay attention to them. 98 00:04:51.06 --> 00:04:54.06 So we have the word structural at 647 99 00:04:54.06 --> 00:04:57.00 and I'm going to go to the wood flooring 100 00:04:57.00 --> 00:04:59.09 and I'm going to make it 648. 101 00:04:59.09 --> 00:05:04.08 So it's just one priority stronger than the wood floor. 102 00:05:04.08 --> 00:05:06.02 And let's see what happens. 103 00:05:06.02 --> 00:05:08.00 So I'm just pushing Enter. 104 00:05:08.00 --> 00:05:09.09 And you can see what happens there, 105 00:05:09.09 --> 00:05:16.07 is now that wood floor and the wood flooring itself, 106 00:05:16.07 --> 00:05:20.05 as well as the structure is going through that wall. 107 00:05:20.05 --> 00:05:23.02 So let's just change it back. 108 00:05:23.02 --> 00:05:25.04 So go back to building material, 109 00:05:25.04 --> 00:05:29.05 so I have to use the Alt and select it. 110 00:05:29.05 --> 00:05:31.05 And I'm going to go to building materials, 111 00:05:31.05 --> 00:05:36.04 and so I'm going to put that structural, 112 00:05:36.04 --> 00:05:38.02 I'm going to put that back to, 113 00:05:38.02 --> 00:05:42.02 I believe it was 300 and push enter. 114 00:05:42.02 --> 00:05:46.02 And then I'm just going to bring this back up. 115 00:05:46.02 --> 00:05:51.04 So I'm clicking on this node along that blue line, 116 00:05:51.04 --> 00:05:58.06 and I bring it back to the top of that slab 117 00:05:58.06 --> 00:06:00.01 or that wood structure. 118 00:06:00.01 --> 00:06:01.03 And there you have it. 119 00:06:01.03 --> 00:06:04.05 That is building materials in a little bit more depth. 9525
