found themselves orphaned.

killed in battle,

their mothers taken
by disease, or grief.

Many ended up
on the Orphan Train,

a program to relocate children

from the decimated
northern cities

to families
in other territories.

rode the Orphan Train,

cold, hungry, and scared.

We ended up moving to Montana

and used the land
the government gave us

to start an orphanage.
