And next thing you know everyone
on the lake who had a boat

starts decorating their boats,

and it became a local tradition.

You know, after my dad passed,
all the locals got together

and decided to keep
the tradition going

in honor of his memory.

That's incredible.

But soon after
all the year-rounders

started moving away
and replaced by seasonals.

Tourists.

Yeah.

I mean, they kept the tradition
of the festival going.

But they didn't know how
or why it started.

Why did all
the locals move away?

Well, this used to be
one of the best kept secrets

of cottage country,

and then some
rich guy came along,

bought up one of
the old cottages.

And he renovates it
to the point where

it's not a cottage anymore.

It's mansion on the lake,

and more people
came to the same thing

and soon price of
living got so high

that the locals
couldn't afford it anymore.

I've even felt the crunch,

It's gotten so expensive
just to moor the boat,
