He is a drug addict

Long story short, picked up
on a target last Tuesday.

We ran into an issue
arresting her

because she's nine months
pregnant.

She's not gonna
tell you any more.

[James] The plan is to wait
until she has the baby,

and then we'll arrest her and
see if she's ready to play ball.

So what's the relation
between him and her?

[James] We're pretty much
100 percent confident

this is [bleeped out] cartel
currency and narcotics.

[Andrew] When I was a kid,

my parents loved me
unconditionally.

But I was constantly
in trouble.

Smoking a lot of marijuana.

In high school,
OxyContin was really big.

My sister, growing up,
she was always

very anti-drug.

But she was living
in an apartment.

A bunch of guys moved in and
they were just partying it up.

They were using heroin.

And I think my sister
just thought, you know,

"I'll try it."

She just didn't expect
how hard it was gonna grab her.

She would call me,

and I would go yank her out
of the drug houses.

It kind of piqued my attention.

Maybe I'll try it.

For probably the first year
and a half,

I would just snort it.

And then my sister, she said,
"Oh, you're wasting it.

You're wasting it."

And finally,
she convinced me to shoot up

and it's the greatest feeling
I've ever felt.

I just-- I couldn't stop
at that point.

I wanted it more
than I wanted to live.

[man] Hey, Andrew! Time to go!

Uh, just... sick and tired
of being sick and tired.

Yeah. It'll do that, man.

Pain will overcome anything,
eventually.

It'll overtake you,
you do something about it.

[Andrew] Yeah.

I knew I could change.

I just want you to know
I'm proud of you for doing this.

It's a big step, brother.

in this alone.

about addiction.

I was a drug addict
and an alcoholic.

I knew if I kept using,
I was gonna die.

We have 33 years being sober.

My kids have been going
to meetings with us

since they were born.

And they still turned out
to be addicts.

there was stealing,

lying, prostitution.

It wasn't the same person
I raised.

The overdoses started.

And then, um,
my husband got a call.

[sobbing] And he just said
she was gone

and there was nothing
they could do.

And that was it.

I lost my baby.

[Dan] My son's a mess
because he blames himself

for my daughter's death.

Because his best friend sold
her the heroin that killed her.

So until he can get past that,

he's gonna have
a really tough time.

of meetings.

I've been in AA for 31 years

forming new friendships,

sober support.

I didn't have any kids,
and he's like my son.

I thought I was
out there living,

and I mean I was just dying.

a completely different life.

that I've put you in.

If I give you the opportunity
to go and live with Miss Knoll,

what assurances can you give me
that you're not going to run

and you're gonna let this
program work for you?
