He used to go shoot at some target

there was no way we were going to
take any chances.

And that's when they laid a trap
to arrest Slawvey

at his apartment building.

I got two cops with me, young cops.

They were never involved
in any shootings.

So they gonna be nervous, you know,
especially a guy like that.

So we waited in the garage
till he got in, you know,

You hear the car going in.

It takes a long time, you don't hear

And then we start hearing steps.

The guy is walking, I can hear him.

So when he comes I yell at him
"Police" and then he stops

and looks at me and he said:
"I'm not armed, I'm not armed",

so I move forward, you know.

Then all I can remember and I seen

They put something like 27 bullets
into John Slawvey.

His girlfriend later said he was
reaching for his cigarettes.

That he didn't have a gun with him.

and people in the West End Gang were
