What is an elevator pitch and why is it important?

An elevator pitch is a term that originates

from the movie Business,

and it's the idea that if a up and coming director

finds him or herself in the lift with a big studio exec

that they could pitch their movie,

they could do justice to their movie

before the lift doors open and the executive gets out.

So that's called an elevator pitch.

You know, as part of developing your signature style,

your singular perspective as a photographer,

you also need to learn how to describe that

and how to talk about it

because that will invariably become how you describe it,

how you talk about it when you're networking,

and when other people are talking about you

will invariably become an important part of your business.

And it will evolve, it will change,

it doesn't have to be a fixed set of words

but getting your head around the ability

to talk about what you do in one sentence

is really, really important.
