when the weather starts to get colder.

one Christmas Eve morning

when we were little.

and the entire place was covered in snow.

brought two old coats out,

dusty.

They were two sizes too small,

but he fit 'em on with duct tape.

- Then we went out into the
backyard and played in the snow.

We made igloos and snowmen

until we couldn't feel our
fingers and toes anymore,

and then we went inside, and
Mom was asleep on the couch,

Tippie in her arms.

God, she must have been two.

Then Dad and Grandpa made us
hot cocoa and ham sandwiches.

Mom was too exhausted to cook.

Then we sat around by the
tree and ate and drank,

watching TV until we fell asleep.

Grandpa must've put us in
our beds later that night.

And then we woke up the next morning

and tore into the presents.

I'd give anything to have that day back

before we all fell apart.

(bells chiming)

getting her to spend time

45 minutes outside of town,
