Sweetie, we're talking about what is a sock puppet account and why do we need one?

So what is a sock puppet?

So it could also be referred to as a burner account.

However, a sock puppet is more widely referenced.

So this is a account that we can use that's not associated to us in any way.

Typically, we'll use a fake name.

We could use a fake location, job, image, personality, cetera.

So your sock puppet account should never contain your real name, your real address, real job, real

phone number, links or associations that will come back to you.

So depending on your use, your account could be as real or as you want or as minimal as you want with

as in minimal in terms of filling out your profile.

Now a a of posts making it look real or whatnot.

So again, depending on your use, you might just have a bare bone.

You have an account and you're able to view people's accounts.

You may want one that actually looks like a legitimate account, so it doesn't scare off whoever you're

doing investigation on.

Again, this is going to depend on your use case.

So why do we need a sock puppet account anyways?

Well, depending on who we are investigating, they may be dangerous.

These individuals may DOCSIS with our own information.

These individuals may not want to be found, and we may spook the targets if they know that we're reviewing

their page or if they draw so, or if we draw suspicion rather.

So this is generally why we want to sock puppet account, especially for dealing with things like,

say, a criminal.

If you're investigating a criminal, you probably don't want them to be able to identify who you are

and find out more information and check on your Facebook page and your friends and family or where you

live and vacation and whatnot.

Again, this is why a sock puppet that's completely disassociated from us comes in really handy.
