All language subtitles for 1. Report writing

Report writing is extremely critical when it comes to ocean investigations.

Weather is going to be for us or it's going to.

We're doing this for a client.

You want a good ocean report.

That way it's easy to follow, especially if you're conducting an investigation for someone.

So we should be able to pick up the report.

Read it.

It should be professionals spell, check and outline for them to be able to understand.

Now, building your own template from scratch can be daunting.

There's plenty of free templates out here.

For example, this one is one I found online.

It was free, free to use and I just kind of changed some stuff around to make an example out of it.

And this is in a word document.

Do you always can create one in a Google doc or whatever word editor that you want?

My preference is Microsoft Office.

For me personally, it's a little bit more robust.

The downside is if you some like Google Docs, that's of course backed up to Google Drive, which is

fantastic and you can find it anywhere.

Or is this a if I created?

I want to make sure I save it to, well, say, Google Drive or or OneDrive or whatnot.

And the disadvantages, if I put this into a Google drive and try to open up and Google Docs, it's

going to look really weird because Google won't be able to handle that formatting, which is another

reason why personal preferences.

Microsoft Office but definitely go with whatever is going to be useful for you.

So first, let me show you this document.

So the basis of this is we have a report no hidden here.

It's investigation report summary, and our target prepared for this is going to be whoever is hiring

you or asking you to do an investigation prepared by.

And then I just put our diggers and D.H logo here and we have scope of work in here.

We have a timeline report, so.

As you start doing your own investigation, you're going to have a timeline report, so I found this

linked that information where you find any information.

The executive summary page is going to be important, especially if you're writing this for someone,

essentially executive summary page just means that it's a very compressed report is just so we can pick

it up is generally like a one page report where someone could just pick it up and get the real quick

facts about what they're looking at.

Very simple, straight to the point.

We also have sites you sell the websites that I use to collect this information and a appendix here,

so different tools like for.

Investigating Twitter, these are the tools I use.

Investigating Reddit, these are tools they use imaging tools, tools are used to analyze the images

I found under their profile.

These are different tools that are used, so this is all important information.

The other thing you want to make sure you have when you do this is the who you're contacting, who you're

supposed to contact.

The scope of work again is right here.

Find out what your client needs or what you can and can't do, and you want to make sure you stay within

that scope and you do want them to sign this report to acknowledge, OK, yeah, everything looks good

here.

We agree with your scope of work.

We agree with two of your contacts or go for it.

The last thing you want to do is do an investigation.

You write this report and you find that your client goes, No.

You went outside of what we want it.

You should not have done X or Y.

So this is why it's important to draft out the scope of work.

Make sure you have all your contacts listed down there in that your client reads it over and signs or

signs off on it before you begin your investigation.

Now you could also do a Google Doc, which is simple.

You go in your Google Drive or your OneDrive, and you can simply just kind of right click in here and

you can set up a new Google doc.

And again, the nice thing about this is you can just start typing away and it's saved on Google Drive

and.

The Google Drive is backed up to.

Or the Google Doc rather is backed up your Google Drive.

So be careful if you're taking a word document, especially one like I just showed you here with a lot

of different templates in here.

Usually, if you copy and paste it into a Google doc, it's going to look really weird.

It's not going to translate a lot of it.

So keep that in mind.

But again, Google Docs is a pretty good option.

You may need to start typing in everything manually, kind of the template that you want to use.

Otherwise, go ahead and look online.

See if there's a Google Doc OSU template.

I'm sure someone has went out there for free that they're willing for people to use.

So again, report writing extraordinarily important and make sure that you are very detailed and always

write an executive report.
