The one thing that Dewayne

And he wanted to grow up as,
uh, what he saw as just a

regular kid.

I think that he sort of
had that dream of,

uh, a mother and a father
and a house in the country,

maybe a horse or a
bicycle to ride on.

He just wanted what every
kid has a right to have,

I think.

At the funeral home,
there was his father.

There were guards, prison
guards, because of his dad's

status.

Three other people, all three
who worked with Dewayne in one

way or another as part of
the Social Service Agencies,

and that was it.

So it was pretty much
as his life has been.

It was a pretty lonely,
pretty skimpy affair.

- Lord, in our
lives, we are often confused,

and we often ask, "Why?"

But it is times like these when
our why becomes our strongest

cry.

- Get a
girlfriend, have a house,

or a car, or somethin'.

Have a little money in
the bank, get a job.

That's what I
expect out of life.

Not much.

- I love
you, and I'm sorry,

but I'll see you.

- It's my
understanding that Dewayne will

be, uh, uh, cremated and, uh,
his ashes spread on Puget Sound.

Dewayne was a, uh, street kid.

Dewayne drifted all his life.

And, uh, it seemed better for me
than just putting him in a hole

in the ground in a box
where's he's got to be there.

He's free.

He's never been that way before.
