Before I became a UX designer,

I worked in a few areas.

I worked in event planning.

I also worked as a business
development analyst.

I also worked in marketing

and at one point,
I was a paralegal.

In order to do that,
I had to be really

detailed and organized
and stay on top of

the different tasks that I had to

handle in order to move
the project forward.

I feel the skills

that I gained from
being an event planner,

of being very detailed
and organized,

really helped me be successful
at leading projects here.

I got into UX design
when I was working as

a business development
analyst and I was

taking continuing ed
classes at night.

I discovered interaction
design while I was taking

an information design
class, and we were asked

to make an infographic
that's interactive.

I did a search online

trying to figure
out what that meant

and somehow stumbled
across interaction design.

While I was working full time,

I started to put together

a portfolio to apply
to grad schools.

My favorite part about
being a UX designer is

being able to work
on complex problems

and trying to simplify
these problems

into solutions that
work for users.

I get into a flow state.

I'm very focused and my mind
is just focused on designing

the different connection points
going from one screen to another

and all the different ways

that the app could flow.

I really like being
able to think about,

"I have these findings
that I gained

from talking to
research participants.

How do I bring it
back into my design,

like a fully developed product?"

It feels amazing to
see the work that you did

in wireframes in real
life, in people's hands.
