are becoming scarce.

Still haven't seen
any alligators

in like four days.

And signs of
a dangerous predator

pose new threats.

One of the biggest
black bear tracks I've seen.

That's a big bear.

We've got visitors.

Day 30, my friend.

Mmm-hmm.

Yeah, it's a holiday.

- Yeah. - half way, baby.

Today is a very special day

I'm grateful for all
that has happened,

I'm grateful for all that
steven and I have overcome

and for all that
we have achieved.

Although, I know

from my previous
60-day challenge

in the philippines, that,

it only gets more
difficult from here.

And we need a medic.

I feel myself starting
to walk slower

and my peripheral
vision is starting to blur.

I'm gonna make it.

I'm gonna freaking make it.

The difficulty is an
exponential scale

from day one all
the way to the end

it gets exponentially
more harder.

Because your body becomes weaker

and famished

and dehydrated

and each day
becomes more difficult

and that's something that
we're gonna have to overcome.

We're also going
into the worst season.

It's going to be colder

and the weather is
going to get worse

as this challenge goes on.

But we will be there at the end.

Man,
some slow fish in the last few days.

Yeah, man.

Can't even hear 'em jumpin'
out there like we used to.

I mean,
we haven't seen a gator in forever.

- And I've been up and down...
- Yeah.

...We've been crossing the river

and checking over on that side.

I've not seen any gator movement

but these weather patterns
and these temperature changes.

I guarantee every
one of these alligators

is sitting at the
bottom of the river,

uh,
waiting for the sun to come out,

so they can warm
themselves back up.

Nothin' there.

Not a thing, just weeds.

Yeah.

And it's a little nerve-wracking

because not been able
to see those food sources

that we've been
seeing every single day

and have them suddenly
disappear like that,

it kind of puts a
chill up your spine.

And that bear track
we saw the other day

could mean that bears are also
having problems finding enough food.

I'm gonna go check my snares,

try to get some
food on the table.

Nothin'. Not a thing.

Those are bees.

I think I just found
a beehive up here.

Right in that nook

of that tree,

there's a lot of 'em.

Well...

Usually where there's bees,
there's honey.

And sugar is worth
more than gold out here.

If there's honey up there...

That explains why we saw
the biggest black bear print

I have seen in a long time.

Problem is,
it is about 40 feet in the air.

I have no idea how
deep into that tree

the honeycomb is.

Or the hive.

It could be way deep in there.

I have no idea.

Another problem is if
I shimmy up that tree,

I might really tick him off

and then I'm 40
feet up in the air,

surrounded by stinging bees.

Which is also not good.

The fact that there's
this many bees

tells me that there's
probably honey in there.

Ah, it's just how to get it?

Fifteen miles north-west,

team savages' second
gator of the challenge...

this is at least
two weeks' worth of food

off of this one alligator.

...Had them surging once again.

This is where I thrive

and you know what,
it makes you proud to come home.

Until rylie's
health took a shocking turn.

but I don't feel nauseous,

I don't have the sharp
pains but I think it's because...

Dehydration out
here on these challenges

is one of the worst
things that can happen.

replace those fluids,

dehydration can easily take someone out.

So rylie's gonna take the day,

to rest herself in the shelter.

We gotta figure out a
way to get out over this water.

The water out here
is solid shoreline

and then it drops off into
straight muck after the roots.

So when we go
to try to catch fish,

it makes us almost have to
dive into the water to get it.

And as we've learnt,
this water is no place to dive into.

With this whole, you know,
nutria parasite we've got going on.

This will be nice. Nice,
little launching spot.

So the first x is
probably gonna go

right in front of where
we put these logs.

If you bring me back
to the amazon jungle,

I made a platform

200 yards into the amazon.

Perfect.

throw the cast net and fish.

I was like, "yeah,
I can make a dock."

just gonna make two sticks here,
bring them together,

and then we're just gonna
lay the dock on top of it.

We can do that without
getting in the water.

so I'm gonna put it about here.

Look how far down that goes.

That ain't going nowhere.

That's four feet in the mud.

That's why I did not
expect it to go that deep.

You take one step
and that's waist deep.

Then I'm gonna
bend 'em together.

This shouldn't be too bad.

We're making two flexible y's

that I'm sticking
straight in the mud

as far as I can get 'em.

I flex 'em together

and when that happens,
it actually creates an upside down v.

That upside down v now
is pushing inside the mud

at an angle that doesn't
allow it to sink any further.

And because of that,
it'll support the dock.

We'd lay some poles in there

and now,
we have got waterfront property

with a beautiful dock.

By constructing this dock

and getting us eight
feet off the shoreline,

now we're able to
walk out to the end of it,

and get out a little bit
further into the water

because the mud
is just everywhere.

And me and mat need
to stay out of the mud,

um, due to the new tree itch.

thousands of calories.

That's a big-ass tree.

So, I'm gonna try that, I think.

I'm thinking that's a prime spot

And when the boys came in here,

they had gator
hooks with paracord.

I didn't have that asset,

they showed up with it,

and it really, uh, helps.

almost a month for that.

to replicate it,

but you can't do it

So, this morning,

we saw a massive
alligator across the way,

we've named him zeus.

This guy's at least 12 feet.

The girth on this guy?

He's, like, three of my bodies,

that's where his
torso looks like.

It is frickin' amazing.

Just knowing that that
monstrosity's in there,

just gives me the passion,

it gives me the drive
to wanna catch him.

I'm glad we
could combine forces.

You know, we're like the
missing keys to each other's link

- in order to keep succeeding.

We're going out,

moving like a
well-greased machine.

We set up all of
our gator hooks,

we literally put in
ten fishing hooks

within, like, 30,
40 minutes, which is huge.

What you do is,
that you build a tension on it...

So it's bent a little bit.

Why? So, it, like,
hooks into the mouth?

It just helps give them play

- in the water. - yeah.

And it works... It's a real...

It's a neat little trick.

I'm stoked to soak
up all of the knowledge

that ej has when it
comes to survival.

So,
now that I've finished this dock,

it's actually a huge
benefit for going out fishing.

You now can step
out past the ledge

eight feet into the water,

to where you can actually
see fish in the water better.

So, I'm gonna make a spear,

so that I get out
and spear fish.

Concept behind it is,
these prongs

are gonna be situated like so.

Once I notch them into place,

they're gonna
provide a spear set up

when the fish goes in.

It's a paralyzer tip,
it's called.

As these spread apart,
it holds on to it.

So, it doesn't actually have
to have a barb necessarily.

You know,
I love foraging and looking around.

I'm really gonna
try to make sure

every leaf is over turned here,

and we're not just
sitting on a resource

that we're not aware of.

be rehydrated anytime.

These can be dried
like little soup crackers

and then rehydrated.

This is another way to make,

like, a lasting food store.

There's a lots of deer tracks.

how to try to
address this problem.

Out here in the swamp,

there's no way that you
can traverse this area by foot.

You just can't.

You walk 20 yards
in each direction,

and you end up knee-deep in mud.

And so,
we're gonna have to build a raft,

and we have to navigate
the waterways here.

These little rivers and streams.

The problem is,
we happen to be in an environment

- where there's no good buoyant trees.
- Yeah.

What we have going for
us is all these cut trees

- we've already used for our shelter.
- Yeah.

And they've already dried out

around the fire
and everything else.

And so if we can use
those to construct a raft,

we're one step ahead.

Yeah.

Uh, steven and I,
we have a plan.

We're gonna take
apart our shelter

and all the poles that
we have already cut down

in this forest to
create this shelter,

and we're gonna convert
those poles into a raft.

And this is gonna help us

to get to a new location
and do it relatively safely.

I say we start shoving.
Let's see what happens.

It is. Let's start
setting the poles to the side.

It's, uh,
it's a little intimidating,

not to... Not having a shelter.

Especially with the death beast

that's been haunting
us every night.

this is something that has to be done.

For us to cut down more trees,
clean 'em, debranch 'em,

and put 'em together
to make a raft,

we're burning a ton
of excess calories,

we're wasting materials

we already used
calories to chop down,

and, um,
it's just not a smart move.

But, um,
the raft is a full-day project.

Once that's done,
try to get some good rest,

and then we got a
big voyage tomorrow.

That's a lot of wood.

About this,

you wanna take this up to here,

I know the other side has game,

I hunted it,
and when I got back from hunting,

I actually ended up
getting that nutria yet again.

So I know I can't
get in the water,

but I know it's possible
that on the other side,

there's greener pastures

and more ground
for us to explore.

So what we have to do

is we have to extend
our dock long enough

that we can get out
over the open water

to the other side
of this channel.

Hoping that all works.

Now the balancing act.

I'm not sure it's gonna even be

getting these things out
there any sort of distance.

You know, the best bet was probably
gonna be to just stand this sucker up,

just like if we were to try

to set a telephone
pole out there.

Go ahead and step
on the base of that.

Now we can just get another one

like almost as tightly
beside that as possible.

The same concept with the dock,

is where I'm driving each
stick straight in the ground,

bending up together.

By doing this,
it's creating a support,

but it's also distributing
that weight evenly

over that mud surface
so they don't sink.

Doing those at each
one of those post blocks,

it's actually creating
a primitive but yet

architecturally-designed
bridge that will

hold all three of us,
no problem.

This actually works really well.

So we will need
about six supports

8 to 10 feet apart,

and then we will cover
those with 40 long poles

to make one continuous
path to the other side.

Tell me when you've got
it for the weight transfer.

Thankfully,
we all have really good balance, uh,

because we basically built a
bridge off of a balance beam.

This is awesome.

Improvise, adapt, and overcome.

That is what we've
been doing since day one.

a whole new world has opened up .

over a hundred
sapling posts and poles.

We're gonna strap
those together,

make two buoys,
like on a pontoon boat.

a flat surface on top.

that'll be able to keep our hides dry,

everything we don't want submerged,
above water.

I'm feeling physically
and mentally

and in spirit like it's day one.

It's not a guarantee,
because they have so many of these,

but this is a great spot,

a natural funnel,
a little nutria highway.
