square miles of the festering

atchafalaya swampland,

the veteran survivalists
begin the 60-day challenge

in four groups
of three to the north.

The team of matt,
riley and ryan,

bring battle-tested skills
into the swamp's dense maze

of gator-filled waterways.

This is a proper challenge.
This place is gonna be tough.

You know, for me, I've always
said that my skill set

can survive
anywhere on the planet.

Jungle warrior
just struck again.

I'm dangerous when I'm hungry.

But to come out
here in the bayou

and try to survive butt naked
for 60 days is crazy.

This is not gonna feel
nice on a naked body.

No.

You're at the end
of your gas tank at 40.

So you still got to get
by on another 20 days

and that's something
I've never dealt with

and it is going to be intense.

But every single adventure
I've ever done I've completed.

I will literally do whatever
it takes to support my team.

I've done it before,
I'll do it again.

There's a nice, a nice big
gator laying up there.

We just got to stay
off the menu.

Sleeping out here naked for
60 nights is just insane.

Fifteen miles to the south,

of blood-sucking mosquitoes.

and you just grab it.

I'll be nervous before

I put my ball sack
on the back of his neck.

Clenches its mouth closed and
I'm gonna be a little nervous.

I am the only one here
that's ever done

a 60-day challenge before.

This is
what I live for right now!

And what I can say is 60 days

is exponentially
more difficult than 40.

It's gonna be brutally cold.
Humid.

- Wet.
- Yeah.

- And the mosquitoes.
- Constantly.

Absolutely. Yep.

I've always kind of
considered myself legendary.

Got dinner! Right here!

Oh my god!

Hello!

Kind of a big deal.
I keep telling you guys.

And I love when people tell me
that I can't do something.

Because 60 days in the swamp
is almost an impossible task.

You're gonna have some
incredibly talented people...

- Absolutely.
- ...Not make it out of here.

And that should put
the fear of god in anybody.

Absolutely.

I've actually never
felt more prepared

for any challenge
than I do for this one.

Yeah,
so I have had several taps.

You left with the firestarter.

On accident this morning.

That's irrelevant.

In africa, I thought I was

the only opinion that mattered

and I didn't care about anyone
else or what they thought

and I'm like, just suck it,
if you don't like it, suck it.

I have to prove that I am
a legendary survivalist.

Finish or die. That's really
my only two options.

I really want us
to all cross this finish line

together, you know?

I have doubts about lacey,
because steven and I,

we know
how to do this challenge.

Sixty days. Ready to get naked?

And on a 60-day
challenge, I'm telling you
right now,

she must pull her weight.

- Oh, if you like, bellies?

And yes, I have tried
to put on as much fat

and muscle as I possibly can.

Insertion day, baby.

Six miles to the west,

the trio of max, amber and gary

navigate a dank tangle
of murky tributaries,

crawling with copperheads
and water moccasins,

the most aggressive and deadly
snakes in north america.

Look how thick this is!

Yeah!

I think the greatest
fear is not, you know,

we'll see what's in
the water and then we're going

to be walking across it.

Kind of the unknown.

What scares me the most
is the water moccasins.

They taste good,
but they are very deadly.

If we get bit, we're out.

You know, you go
into these challenges

and you put it all on the line,

because everyone here
is a proven vet.

We all have
the mental fortitude.

We chose the path
so we can't complain

about the path we're on.

Right on.

This swamp can eat
us alive, though

that's true. And I'm gonna eat
the swamp to stay alive.

I see opportunity where
other people see disgust.

I scavenged a dead...

With maggots all over it.
Wish not, want not.

I ate my way through
whatever I get my hands

on to make it, and I made it.

You know,
that's the thing about it.

Even finding a dead fish
out here's a resource.

And this one is going
to be a true test.

Looks like this is it,

And that's what makes
this one of the scariest
challenges

I've ever attempted.

But the truth is, you
always have to support

your brothers and sisters.

And that's what matters,
accomplishing the mission

and getting it done.

fire ants, damn it.

Eight miles north,

the final team of e.J.,
sarah and suzanne

arrived deep in the dark heart
of the atchafalaya.

Yeah!

We're here to swamp, girl!

Yeah!

E.J, he's like the
granddaddy survivalist.

We've got fire!

Yeah! That's dinner,
there's extraction.

And he has conquered, in my
mind, the hardest challenges.

I trained ranger students
for three years in the swamp.

People are always talking
about the everglades.

That's a petting zoo
compared to this place.

I put this place on the same
danger level as the amazon.

I have a wealth of experience.

And if you don't have
the skills to be out here,

the swamp will smell you out.

Going to get cold.

Yeah, that's a big concern
of mine is the cold.

That's the swamp suck,
we call it.

It is, it'll get you.

That creeps in,
that cold, that wet.

Bone-chilling.

We better be able to plan ahead

and really prepare
for the long haul.

It's 60 days,
we're building a home.

Good point.

We can't be a shelter.
It's got to be a home.

If we don't do that,

mother nature will take us out.

I see our beds.

All right, let's get it on!

Had to pack the extra
weight on for this one.

Be careful, spread yourself
even across the top.

There are venomous
snakes around here.

There are diseases.

There's any number
of crazy things

that can happen out here.

But I think that the strongest
people are the ones

who have been through
the toughest things.

We've got...

So, it is my very clear
intention to make

it the full 60 days.

Oh, the smell, e.J.

welcome to the swamp.

Oh my god.

Opens up down here,

On the other side of the web,
I recognize that.

- Oh the bags!

How do we get there, though?

Just go for it.

It appears this is our baptism
into the louisiana swamp.

- Let's do this.

I do not know
what is in this water.

This is loaded with
alligators. Can't see

it's... For me.

I always
show up to the challenge.

I always give it my all.

Taking down that alligator
in the everglades,

that is a huge advantage,
to me personally,

out here amongst
these other survivalists.

But, I absolutely see
this 60-day challenge

as a time to redeem myself.

9 out of 10 pain.

Oh, god.

It's not the best time to be
sick. Lions, I can hear lions.

I've never failed at such
a big challenge in my life.

And that really weighed heavy
on me for some time to come.

You know, I'm a very
highly-motivated person.

And I'm not leaving
until I get to day 60.

- Made it.
- Heck yeah.

All right. Looks like
we found our bags here.

There they are.

Voila!

For the 60-day challenge,

each survivalist has chosen
their own personal blade.

Now that's a knife.

- A big one.
- Nice.

Each team receives
a pot to boil out the giardia,

cryptosporidium,
and other killer microbes

lurking in the brackish water.

- It's a swamp pot.
- Perfect.

Are those hides?

Plus deer hides
for protection against

the frigid winter to come.

Oh my god, they are fresh.

And as a team, they must choose

three additional survival
items from a group of four.

Magnesium fire starter,
no brainer. We need fire.

Well, yeah, for sure.

550 paracord,
we are taking this.

What about this hook,
this thing is a monster.

And it's
got a little weight to it.

You know, that that
is a gator getter.

Fishing line and hooks.

Unfortunately,
we can't keep all of them.

The boat,
that can give us the food

we need to actually
thrive for that sixty days.

Raccoons, boars, you know,
and even alligators.

And every one of us
is plenty capable enough

to hunt any pig or deer
that we find.

I guess it depends,
do we want to go ambitious?

We want that big game?

I mean, there's definitely
fish out there.

You could catch small
fish every day.

We're not all here
for small game, though.

- No, no.
- Yeah,

it's go big or go home.
Right? Yeah.

We're passing on this.

Yeah.

Now, we've got to
have fishing gear.

Yep. Here we've got fishing line

with some hooks in there.

- Okay.
- Yeah.

I'm not much of a hunter. I'm
more of a fisher
and a gatherer.

Honestly, I think we should
take the treble hook.

I'm with you 100%.

With the amount of alligators
that we saw just on insertion.

Well, I mean, we're
literally surrounded by water.

So if we have to leave anything,

we'll leave the bow and we'll
feed ourselves with our hooks.

Our trifecta is going to be
crawfish, catfish, and gator.

Whoo!

- I was hoping you'd say that.
- Gator, right?

Yes, that's for,
that's for alligator.

I mean,
that is more than enough.

So, you guys want to
go without the bow?

I think so. I think
it's probably our best bet

because right now,

there's just so much
food in that water.

Smaller fishing kit.

This is number one. Done.

This is good because there are
deer and there are boar here.

So, that's good for big stuff.
And even birds, small mammals.

I don't think we really
need a gator kit

because I've jumped
on them before.

I know I can stick this knife
right through their skull.

We'll have some gator
dinner and having a bow

with those kinds
of arrows with broadheads.

Some of them get larger
animals like hogs or deer

and we're going
to need it for 60 days.

- I would like to have the bow.
- Yeah, are you okay with that?

Does anybody have the map?

- I have the map.
- My man.

We need to get to the
highest elevation possible.

Looks like the highest
elevation on here.

Yeah, that's somewhere that way.

And if we're there,
we're going to really walk.
This is pretty far.

I think we just got
to look for the tallest trees.

Here might be some high ground.

Yep. And we're still close
to water, a lot of gators.

We could probably hang around
'cause that's where our main
food source will come from.

Our best bet is going this way.

We're losing daylight so,
let's go.

There's nothing stable
about this ground.

- Feels like it.
- Wow!

Oh, yeah. Oh,

she's, she's deep.

In this environment.

There are so many things
that will take you down,

but I believe in my skills.

This is what we call
dinner in the amazon.

I have enough experience
with snakes and fishing

or wrestling alligators.

There you go.

And I know I survived
two combat tours in iraq

and I've been injured
and I can get through it.

It's so marshy. Oh, this is
gonna be a little tricky.

Soppy, soaky, wet and muddy.

And like quicksand.
It's hard to walk.

That's deep.

- Whoa!
- Oh god, no.

I don't know, guys. So dense.

Feel like we just dropped
down a little lower

in elevation right now.

The ground's got a bit
of moisture to it.

Oh snake right here,
snake right here.

- Snake?
- Yeah!

Copperhead.

Baby copperhead.

Be careful.

Baby venomous snakes
actually are more dangerous

than the adults, because they
don't really give dry bites.

And when they bite you,
they release all of the venom

they have inside of them.

- Where is it?
- There it is, there it is,

- there it is.
- Whack it!

Hurt it.

Got it.

Cut its head off there.
I've got it pinned.

- Oh no. Here we go.
- Got him.

I'm not hungry enough
on day one to eat it.

So I think it's a good idea
to use that as bait.

A couple 100,000 to go.

We'll be watching for snakes.

Oh, yeah.

You've got to watch where
you step.

It can really make your
life terrible out here

if you don't have
a good team dynamic.

I mean, animals better be aware!

The amount of screaming
jeff is gonna do,

is gonna be deafening.

I should have brought
earplugs as my item.

Oh god! Don't go that way!

Oh, no.

Okay, we're good.

Graceful like an angel.

I've never been called
an angel before.

And lacey.

She'll say what she means
and she'll say it in a way

that can kind
of come across as a, you know,

a little kind of snarky.

I think this might be the
water we pointed out.

That must have been
a gator jumping.

That's exactly what
it sounded like.

Let's... It looks like
it keeps getting

higher over here.

Yeah, this is like the highest.

All right. Looks like
it doesn't flood up here.

So that's a huge bonus.

Like just access to resources,

this is the best spot for sure.

I'm hoping we'll be
able to stay here

for the next 60 days.

So depending on the rain,
depending on the tides,

we're gonna have to
play that by ear.

Let's divide and conquer.

But people don't live
out here for a reason.

Because
it's basically impossible.

And we're going to do it
for 60 days,

naked with a knife
and a stick, basically.

It does actually get pretty
high over here, you guys.

That does provide
a good little area.

I mean, if we clear it out

I'm fine if this is where
we're gonna start working.

I think with this, at least
if we have that log,

In my previous challenges I've
had some difficult partners.

I'm out here with people that
I know they know what to do.

Just like I know,

It's a lot of opinion, and the
opinions can all be correct.

You know, there's more than
one way to make a shelter.

And that can be hard.

All right, let's start
clearing it out.

Let's do it.

Right now it's about
getting up off the ground.

Get the fire going.

And boiling some water.

Because the swamp's
the last place

you want to be without shelter.

Oh my gosh, it stinks so bad.
It smells like sewer in here.

Oh, that sucks. I'm in the
water now. that noise.

It's pretty hard
to just move through this.

Oh!

The environment is dangerous,
biting flies, poison ivy,

water moccasins
and alligator being the worst.

It's almost like you need
some snowshoes.

And the clock is ticking,
because the sun is dropping.

Feels like quicksand.

It's like we've been through
quicksand out here.

Here. It's a little
harder over here.

It's incredibly dangerous
because as soon

as it does get dark,
it's pitch black.

When you have
predators everywhere,

it's pure hell at night.

- Dammit.
- Oh!

Come on!!

This is deep, deep mud.

Please let there be
higher elevation.

Okay.

Okay.

I've never walked through such
a gnarly marsh lagoon.

The amount of energy
that we've burned already.

It's crazy.

But, you know,
you go into these challenges

and you put it all on the line.

- Shark!
- Right there!

Holy crap! Go! Go!

Yeah!

So there's a lot of pride
in this challenge.

I'm out here to crush it.
Just got to keep on pushing.

This is okay. It looks
like there's land ahead.

Definitely getting drier.

Here's a nice little opening.

Yeah.

We're near the channel.
Seems like a high spot here.

But it's awfully
close to this water.

So close.

There's not much high ground.

Slim pickings
for our high ground.

We're completely surrounded
by open water and swamps.

So, our area to build
a shelter is very limited.

For once in this challenge,
we actually have an
opportunity

to make a long-term shelter.

- Right.
- I'm talking about

a three-person smaller size,
almost wigwams.

This tree. We have a ridgepole.

I love that. And I think on
this mound with the runoff,

we start bringing
other bendy saplings

and other things in
to make that framework.

Yeah.

Wigwams are round
traditional native american
huts,

which use a framework of
arched wooden poles to create

a domed roof covered in hides,
grasses and reeds.

I am really strong
at primitive skills.

So, shelter building,
gathering, primitive fishing.

We're out here for 60 days

and I think it's going
to come in handy.

I think it's, it's gonna be
a nice little place

once we get it all done.

I couldn't be happier with the
partners I've got out here.

We work really well together.

We're motivated,
everyone just stepped

right up on shelter-building.

When do you think
we should try to get a fire?

We need to get a fire going,
get some smoke out here

because this place
is riddled with dangers,

venomous snakes,
the alligators and mosquitoes

are going to get bad.

to actually help us

keep all the dangers away

and repel some bugs
with the smoke.

It never truly feels like home,

until you got a fire
in the fireplace.

Wow! This is really dry guys.

Yeah, I mean,
this is definitely the most

consistently dry spot I've
seen since we've been looking.

And look,
we got a beach to fish off of.

I'm really kind of feeling

like the three
separate cots thing.

cause then we can all
tend to fire in the middle.

I'm trying to make it 60 days

so we've got to be able
to sleep.

It's crucial
to get off the ground,

because that's where all
the creepy crawlers are.

It's a conductive thing. As
soon as you're on the ground,

that cold ground
will just suck the heat

right out of you.

First reaction
of meeting my partners,

they're very outgoing,
very eccentric,

you can tell we have
alpha presence with max.

He likes to set the pace,
which is great.

I hope I can hold up
to them and show them

my skills as well
and make it happen.

Amber brings significant fishing

and gator know-how
to the challenge.

While max boasts a perfect
survival track record,

and gary's toughness
and scavenging abilities

are unmatched.

Their starting 60-day

is set at 54%.

Max has never tapped out
on any of his challenges.

He's proven himself.
He's arrogant.

Oh, yeah.

But, I'm absolutely
viewed as arrogant too.

So, maybe that's
the personality traits

that come out here
and give this a shot.

Because they're crazy enough
to go do it. I like it, man.

Oh, man, this is like,
memory wood mattress.

Setting up camp
in the swamp, it's not ideal.

We have tons of bugs.

We've got crazy mud.
But, you know what?

If you're not positive, the
elements will break you down.

But, luckily, mentally
is where I'm strong.

I never struggle.

I'm pretty happy
for our first day.

Got the first part
of our a frame up,

solid firewood,
water on the fire.

I mean, you can't really ask for

more than for our first day.

I'm waiting for bug o'clock.

what that's gonna be like.

Yeah, my biggest
concern is definitely

what's going to happen
when the sun goes down.

Those mosquitoes tend to erupt.

they're only 110 pounds each,

I, look like two bookends.

four challenges
across three continents,

sarah's grit and innovation,

and suzanne's high survival iq,

this team's chance of
completing 60 days is 47%.

Got fire. We can try
to get some smoke going.

Watch your fingers,

But from
my experience in the amazon,

there's no true answer to...

When the mosquitos want you,

they're going to come for you.

They're so mean!

It is night one
and the mosquitoes are out.

We are all thoroughly
getting bit right now.

I looked at my legs
and they're on fire right now.

I have bugs eating me alive
and my legs hurt so bad.

Bayou

it is a bug-filled night.

It is bad, real bad.

The mosquitoes are, like thick,

you can actually move
your hand through the air

and actually feel
them hitting mosquitoes.

I covered myself in clay.

You know, we're doing
everything we can to keep,

to keep these mosquitoes at
bay but right now it is thick!

We're going to do our
best to make it through.

It's going to be a long night.

My god, man, that is so bad!

The mosquitoes
are emergency level.

Literally,
just standing around the fire

in the smoke,
miserable, complete misery.

At any one time
you have 10 mosquito bites.

I want to go
and jump in the river.

And sit in the river
up to my neck in water

just so the bugs can't get me.

But, of course,
alligators feed at night

and we would be killed.

And that's my best idea,
right now.

And that should tell you how,
how bad this is.

Oh my god. This is horrible.

They are whacking us.
Trying to lay down,

trying to get comfortable,
trying to get some sleep

and it's definitely difficult.

This is not just annoying,
this is pain.

This is like hypodermic
needles going into your skin.

Louisiana mosquitoes suck
and are fierce.

It is all-night relentless
attacks.

Right now, my feet
are unbelievably swollen.

I don't even recognize
my feet anymore.

Our bodies are just
solid welts right now.

It is unbearable.

This is the worst night
imaginable on planet earth.

It is at the borderline of
what human beings can endure.

Not once in 135 days doing
these "naked and afraid"
challenges

have I ever once even had the
thought of going home early,

but this location
is insurvivable.

Damn it.

We went through hell last night.

- Yeah.
- We may still be in hell.

Last night was the
worst night I've ever had

in my entire life.

It was brutal,
mentally and physically.

And drained me in a way
I've never ever felt before.

I think this is a location
unlike any

that we've ever done
on this challenge.

We all have thousands
of bites on our body.

My body is reacting right now.

And my feet
are incredibly swollen.

I cannot articulate
my ankle back and forth.

I am exhausted.

I think we're all
just in a daze right now.

We didn't get a minute
of sleep last night.

Our bodies hurt. And it's just
the start of day two.

I'm just not a quitter.

You know,
yesterday we killed it.

- We kicked butt.
- We did.

We had fire, we had firewood,
we had a decent shelter going.

This trio? Unstoppable.

We're gonna finish our shelter.

- Oh, yeah.
- Gather some more firewood.

I'm fried, man.

Poor jeff.

I finally have partners
that I am compatible with

and I can't survive out here
without the legends.

So, we got to kind of just try
to pull each other up.

All you can do is push
through the next minute,

the next hour, the next day.
And that's my plan.

We just gotta keep trucking man.

Just make victory
that much sweeter.

Oh, so, it is the
morning of day two.

Night one was horrible.

There's no possible way to sleep

with these mosquitoes around.

They're awful.

My biggest concern is the roof.

So I'm thinking we're going
to get two beams

to make the a frame, have a
cross beam to another a frame

and then we just start lining
beams up to the ground.

Why don't we sit down
and just talk about

what we're going to do.

And that way I feel like
we're being productive

- yet, we're resting.
- All right.

Okay, so I'm gonna start
just gathering poles

and figure out this roof system.

- If you guys are...
- So, which way

do you imagine a roof, then?

Two poles?

And then, that way with the roof

or we could just do
totally asymmetric

and go from there to here,
and then down that way.

Yeah.

My suggestion is that...

Or actually, maybe this is the
back, and that's the front.

Yeah, I mean...

We're gonna have to dig down
and then cordage it to that.

- I mean...
- And then put other logs
around it.

I'm getting a little
frustrated with the workflow

because I'm a workhorse.

I'm a get in there,
get it done kind of guy.

And they've got great attitudes,

they want to pitch in.

But, I think we have
some conflicts in terms

of structure design.

Or if we have an a frame
that's going like this,

it'll kind of hopefully smoke
out all those damn mosquitoes.

There's a lot of ideas
floating around.

I want to be a supportive
teammate.

I want to be a good
teammate for my team.

But right now,
we just need to get a shelter.

I'm just gonna
let everyone know.

I'm a mission-oriented guy,

and I will start getting antsy.

Like this shelter.
So just letting you know.

We all got tore up
by mosquitoes last night.

So today is operation
pimp our shelter

and make it
as airtight as possible

so the smoke lingers and keeps
out most mosquitoes.

I'd say our shelter
is pretty far along.

All we have now
is the final touches.

Yeah, agreed.

We haven't eaten yet.

that we've been
letting marinate.

I've hunted gators
for a lot of years.

And I know alligators
hunt strictly

by their sense of smell
and sight.

So, if they can smell this
copperhead cooking on a hook,

then they're most likely going
to come in and become dinner.

Sitting up some gator lines.

It'll be so... To eating gator.

Did you hear something
that way? Like a splash?

Oh, gator right there.

Oh yeah.

Right there's about
a six and a half foot gator.

Yeah.

Close, but not close enough.

The only way to get
one in this deep canal

body of water
is going to be the hooks.

No, I know.

For deeper waters
we have to use the hooks.

I don't know any other way
to go about harvesting

an alligator in water
that's over my head.

I'm not even going
to get in there.

If we can find an area that's
a little more ankle-deep,

knee-deep water we might be
able to be successful

with the bow and arrow
in an alligator

or, or the alligator
boomstick noose.

- We put one here.

We tie it here.

We can drape it over that way.

And then have a good,
nice visual.

We have to extend
our paracord long enough

that that alligator
will take it and we could try

to pull him in from shore.

is if he feels the hook

to finish up our shelter.

So, now it's more about
a hunt for palms

because we need
shingles for our shelter.

The thing

here was the most difficult

thing I've ever done.

But we made it and I'm
committed to this challenge

and my teammates.

We're all pitching in together.

We're banding together
and we're making it happen.

We've seen a lot of gators
already this far.

We know they're out there.

My gosh,
if we could reel in a six,

eight-foot gator, we'd be
looking really, really good.

And I'm gonna hang it

There's definitely gator
markings right over there.

Gators definitely sunbathe
there in the afternoon.

So what you want to do is you
want to dangle a hook,

about eight inches
above the water surface

hanging from a tree.

The gator will launch
up out of the water,

ingest the hook, take it down
with him and swallow it.

And then he's stuck.

Cross our fingers,
we might kill something today.

We got to keep vigilant.

Alligators, you know,
that's food.

But, it's also terrifying.

And it's very dangerous.

Alligators have 82 teeth,

and they have a bite force
of over 4,000 pounds

per square inch.

It's one of the highest
bite forces

in all of mother nature.

That's something
you don't want to be on

the wrong end of.

That's the end. Not just the
end of the challenge.

It might be the end
of our lives.

This is a fairly
ambitious shelter build.

We've got quite a large a
frame that's going to require

of greens to cover it.

The raised platform in
the middle is going to include

a very nice mantel piece,

with a billowing smoke fire
that not only provides warmth,

but also smoke helps
to deter insects

in a place like this where the
mosquitoes are literally hell.

night of my entire life.

This is not for the faint

We were blessed to have
an area just big enough

to fit our three bodies

We have to move camps.

This camp is not going to last

to the amazon jungle,

I contracted a rare flesh
eating bacteria on my foot.

We received the test
results back

and the type of bacteria
that came back

is a lot stronger than
what we can treat out here.

Well, hell, I even thought maybe

I'll just cut off those toes.

I don't need a couple
of those toes.

Well, this is a different
ballgame, people.

There is something
happening to my boys.

They're not getting cut off.

And I'm damn well hell not
getting tapped out of here

for some kind
of a testicular issue.

This kind of looks like one
of these things

that's here local in the swamp.

It's called nutria itch.

It's from the feces
of the nutria

that live in the swamps here.

It's a microscopic roundworm,
they can get into you

from getting in the mud
too much and having

that moisture against
your skin too much.

I rubbed that mud on
myself for mosquito repellent.

Nutria are large
aquatic rodents that can grow

up to 20 pounds,
and release parasitic eggs

into the water
through their feces.

That's a new one.

I like to break the barrier
here on this challenge,

so might as well be
the first one to get

them nutria poop worm
parasite on my nut.

I need you to try to stay
as dry as you can

and stay out of sitting
in the mud.

Try not to have too
much moisture in there

throughout the day, like this.

Out here to say that something
should stay dry is, is tricky.

We're only a foot above
sea level in a swamp.

So whatever I do,
I've got to keep,

keep my nuts out of water.

Something so small like that,
an irritant like that

it's not something that you
want to take lightly.

best hunter, most experienced.

And if matt were to be
taken out,

that would be a huge danger
for myself and riley.

This kind of stuff scares me.

It's something
I've never quite seen before.

In these challenges, I really
do apply the scavenger style.

I really try to develop a diet
of the plants around me,

and so I can sustain myself

while I'm looking for the
other opportunities.

So a little bit of nectar,
a little bit of sweetness

what the bees go after and
then the pollen is in there

which is one of the richest
sources of vitamins in nature.

And high on protein.

I'm a survivalist.

I know my stuff.

Have you ever seen
me eat anything

We use that tree right there
to hold the meat up on

and give it... As soon as the
gator bites it, pulls it down.

It will go into the water
with the gator.

We have very limited
resources on bait.

We have the rotting deer
hide with a crawfish.

for two crawfish.

They're
in all these holes, but...

Should we just go
with crawfish without that?

No. I think that the
deer's rot smell,

that's what they want.

They don't like things
that are alive.

When I look at my partners,
I know that I had the most

experience with alligators
due to the fact that I go out

and wrestle them multiple
times throughout the year.

I was taught how to manage
them, how to hold them.

You know, at some point there
might be a 12-footer that I

put a noose around his
neck and ripped out the water.

Right about there.

I got it.

I'm grateful enough that
max is willing to listen to
me.

And you know what?
It is going to work.

We are going to catch a gator.

I'm going to give it about
12 feet.

Because then it can't
go anywhere

and I'm going to tie it,

shelter and a sun shelter

the space so that smoke

the mosquitoes

By tying
a treble hook to paracord,

he team hopes to toss it
out far enough

to snag the gator
and pull it to shore.

He's turning around, give him
a second, just be patient.

He's just got to get
a little closer.

Is as soon as you reel him in,

about a six-foot alligator.

It's so crazy to see that

It's rough to see it.

But we do have, you know,
hooks in the water,

your odds go up
with hooks in the water.

So, hopefully he meanders
around and gets an interest

in our hooks because
that would be amazing.

could lead to more
serious matters.

into the challenge.

are having problems.
