There's nothing like
descending on the shipwreck.

a Norwegian merchant ship

known as the SS Benwood
was on a routine voyage

to Norfolk,
Virginia, when rumors

of German U boats
in the area force

the ship to travel blacked out.

At approximately 12:45
AM, a black object

was sighted off her starboard.

She was on a direct
collision course

with another freighter traveling
under the same conditions.

The Captain made a last
minute ditch effort

to save it by ordering
the engine full astern,

but the roaring of the motors
alerted the German submarine.

And now, the SS Benwood
lies under 60 feet of water.

They've been down
there way too long.

oxygen before help arrives.
