John Dudley the first Jew

Cumberland was born in 1504 there

1537 and took naval matters very

progressed and rebellion sat down the

to manipulate each other in a series of

political manoeuvres Dudley was

appointed Lord President of the Council

with the authority to debar councillors

and appoint new ones Dudley would also

have his sights set on the Dukedom which

would be awarded to him on October the

11th 1551 with summer suits

participation he was appointed Duke of

Northumberland within the week Somerset

was arrested charged with treason he was

acquitted but fell guilty of felony he

was executed of January the 22nd 1552 as

summer said no longer presented a

problem Dudley was at liberty to place

particular men into the roles most

suited to dudleys plans by Henry the

eighth's own hand his daughters could

not inherit the throne should Edward

died that being the case and ended his

defense he supported the young king in

his decision to have Lady Jane Grey

become queen this was the case and after

Edward's death Jane was proclaimed Queen

unfortunately Dudley was unable to

secure Mary from contesting this after

many deaths in battle the Privy Council

decided to give in to marry and

proclaimed her queen it would be Lord

Arundel who had come to arrest Dudley

and take him to the tower where he

awaited execution during this time

Dudley requested the services of the

priest to confess the returning to his

childhood faith has been seen as his way

of protecting his family from Queen
